Joshua's POV

As Jeonghan walked away with the older woman who was waiting for him at the top of the stairs, I was alone with Jeonghan's friend...or that's what I think she is. I awkwardly smiled at her. I recognised her from the mall, she was one of the girls that Jeonghan was hanging out with while he was wearing girl clothing. 

"So you're Jeonghan's friend?" I question, trying to start conversation.

"And you're Jeonghan's boyfriend." She replies in a smile. 

I lightly chuckled to her response, nodding my head before saying "yeah, that's me." 

"You know, ever since you started dating Jeonghan, he's had this weird smile on his face. It's kind of nice." The friend says, sitting down on the stairs where I gladly sat down next to her. Once we were sitting down next to one another, she continues to explain "Jeonghan ever so rarely smiled before...that's why it took everyone by surprise when he started smiling." She explains, looking at me with a smile of her own on her face. 

"Jeonghan wasn't happy before then? Is there a reason for that?" 

"I have no clue...I'm the closest friend Jeonghan has, but he hates talking about personal problems. I don't know, maybe it's because he doesn't want to bother other people with his problems, but it's like he's always trying to help other people but never himself. That's why he always runs away from his problems whenever something bad faces him head on. Because he has no one to talk to about his problems so he just runs away from them." 

"Do you...know why he was like this before?" I question, looking at her curiously. 

"There could be a lot of reasons, I have clues on maybe why...but I don't know if they'd be the right one." She explains, looking down at her legs while playing with her hands. 

I nodded meaning I understood before asking "when I came here with Jeonghan...everyone seemed to be so worried when he came back when he wasn't even gone for a full on two days. When he came back everyone seemed really relived and happy. I wouldn't say you guys were over reacting but-" 

I got cut off there, the girl interrupts me by explaining "I know it might look like we were over reacting with Jeonghan coming back home, but we were all really happy. When kids run away from places like this, orphanages, they usually don't come back. They're usually never seen again. I don't want to go all dark here but kids like us have no one. We have no one to go to when we run away. Some of us don't make it back even if we want to. In this case, it wasn't the first time Jeonghan has ran away from this place." 

"He's ran away before?" I question. 

"Oh yeah, a ton of times. He always ended up either being brought back here by the police, or comes back on his own."

I looked around the house, kids were running around, just thinking that none of them could have parents made me a bit upset. At the same time the door opened, both the girl and my head turned to see who was entering the house when we see Hyunwoo. Hyunwoo lives here as well?! 

"You?" Hyunwoo says in surprise, looking at me confused on what I was doing here. 

"Nice to see you too, Hyunwoo." I say, standing up to greet him. 

"What're you doing here?" He questions, walking up to me and the other girl who were still on the stairs. 

"So you two know each other?" The girl questions, looking from the both of us with a smile on her face. Something tells me that she already knows we knew each other from before, she's just trying to act surprised. 

"We go to the same school" Hyunwoo answers for the both of us, then turning his head to me and staring at me. I guess expecting me to answer his question from before. 

"I brought Jeonghan home...the older woman outside invited me for dinner so I'm going to have dinner here as well. I didn't know you lived with Jeonghan...was that convenience store  story an excuse?" I question and Hyunwoo said nothing, like he was a bit embarrassed. 

At the same time, Jeonghan came walking down the stairs where I was and grabbed a hold onto my hand. I turned my head to him to see if he was alright and he was smiling down at me. "Joshua, come with me" he says, leading me up the stairs, leaving Hyunwoo and the other girl. 

I looked back at them but then faced forward to continue walking with Jeonghan, seeing where he was bringing me. 

As Jeonghan pulled me into a room, the bedroom had two beds inside of it with a closet. The bedroom looked cramped and small. "This is my bedroom" Jeonghan says before sitting on what I'm guessing was his bed. 

I sat down beside him, placing one hand on his thigh and smiling at him. "So, how did it go, what did you two talk about?" 

"Nothing, she just scolded me...nothing big." Jeonghan explains, looking down he didn't sound so happy while explaining it. 

I nodded meaning okay, deciding not to question him about it anymore since he didn't sound like he was up for it. "We just need to record the last of our project before editing it all and putting it altogether." I explain, trying to change the subject to the English project we still had to get done. 

"Yeah...it's due by next week, isn't it?" Jeonghan questions and I nodded. 

"Tomorrow after school, why not we go downtown and continue shooting the rest of our video?" I suggest and Jeonghan nodded along to what I was saying as well. 

An awkward silence filled the room until I cleared my throat and question "I didn't know Hyunwoo lives here too, was that convenience store thing a lie to cover up that both of you live here?" 

Jeonghan sighed a little before admitting "yeah, I wasn't comfortable telling you anything about myself, or my home life. I guess Hyunwoo hasn't told his friends about his home life either. We were lying for each other." He explains while looking down. 

I nodded meaning I understood and looked off to aside. "There are a lot of things I don't know about you I guess."

"What?" Jeonghan questions before we get interrupted, getting called down to eat dinner.  I stood up but Jeonghan instantly stood up after me, holding onto my wrist while questioning "what did you mean by that, Joshua?" 

"Nothing...come on, let's go eat." I answer in a smile, pulling my hand away and leaving the room to go downstairs and have the dinner that was prepared.
