Joshua's house
When Jeonghan and I got back to class, I could tell Jeonghan was always sneaking glances at me, because when I was sneaking my own glances at him, he was always looking up at me.
Whenever I caught him looking at me, I couldn't control my heart from thumping. I felt like I could have a heart attack because my heart was beating so fast around him. Is it good to have my heart beat so fast for someone...is that even normal?
When the end of the day came, I walked up to Jeonghan's desk where he was putting his textbook into his backpack. "Jeonghan" I say in a smile to catch his attention.
He looked up at me with his big brown eyes when I called out his name and he looked a bit embarrassed. "Yes" he answers in a quiet tone, wanting to know what I wanted.
"I'll walk you home today" I answer in a smile.
"No" he quickly responded which kind of hurt me.
"Why not?"
"I just...don't think you should come to my house, we're not that close yet." He mutters, looking back down at his bag and zipping it up to close it.
"I see, I see...then do you want to come to my house?" I question and he looked up once again while putting his backpack on his back.
"You want me to come to your house?" He questions in an uncertain tone.
"Yeah, I just want to hang out with you a bit more after school. You know, so we can get to know each other better." I explain, trying to convince him to go along with me.
He looked down at the ground and scrunched up his face a bit, I guess thinking about it. "Fine...I'll go." Jeonghan hesitantly says, after taking a while to answer.
I smiled brightly after hearing so and my emotions quickly brightened up. "Yes! Let me get my backpack and we'll head out." I say, turning around and going back to my desk to grab my backpack which I had already packed.
"Joshua, you coming?" Hansol asks, calling out to me from the front of the class.
"Coming...where?" I ask, looking at him confused.
"We're all going to go bowling, want to come with us?"
I looked at Hansol and then back at Jeonghan who was still waiting for me at his desk. "I'll meet you outside, hold on." I answer and Hansol nodded, walking out of the classroom with everyone else following him.
I walked back up to Jeonghan and ask "Jeonghan, are you good at bowling?"
"Bowling?" He replies with his eyebrow raised.
"Yeah, my friends wanted me to go bowling with them right now, you want to come?" I ask, looking at him with a bright smile but an instant frown fell upon his face when I asked. "Did...I say something wrong?" I ask, watching him frown.
"No, I just...don't like bowling." He says in a quiet tone.
I observed his face a bit more before saying "fine, then I guess we're not going bowling."
"B-But Joshua, your friends asked you to go bowling with them. You should go with them." He says, insisting that I go bowling instead of hanging out with him.
"I don't want to, I'd rather hang out with you then go bowling with a bunch of guys I hang out with every single day." I explain in a smile while pointing over my shoulder with my thumb.
I could see Jeonghan lightly smiling like someone was tugging on the end of his mouth. "Lets go to my house!" I say in a big smile, grabbing his wrist and bringing him out of the classroom with me.
Once we got into the hallway Jeonghan shook my grip off of him so I wasn't holding his wrist anymore. I guess he's embarrassed that I was holding his wrist in the hallway, with other people around.
I understood and let him, walking out of the school to see my huge group of friends waiting for me at the gate. "So, let's go." Chan says once he saw me walk out of the school.
"Sorry guys, I can't go. I have to go home and work on the English project." I explain, trying to make up an excuse to get myself out of their hair.
"What, but the teacher will give us time tomorrow in class to work on it." Mingyu explains, looking at me confused on why I was going home to do my project.
"I know but I...uh...won't be at school tomorrow so I want to get the things done tonight that I'll miss tomorrow in class." I explain, giving them a little chuckle after my explanation.
Hansol stared at me for a long time like he was trying to look through me. He then says "fine, then I guess you'll miss out on all the fun." Before turning around and walking away. I could tell he was upset, but he'll probably forget about it.
"Have fun doing your work." Seungcheol says before turning around himself and everyone walked away from me to go bowling.
When everyone walked out of sight, Jeonghan walked up beside me and asks "are you sure you don't want to go with them?"
"I'm sure, come on let's go to my house" I say in a smile, turning in the opposite direction to start walking to my house.
Jeonghan was walking beside me and an awkward silence fell between us. How am I suppose to start a conversation with him when I know nothing about him. I then thought about something. "Hey, why don't we go to the convenience store that you always go to, to get some snacks for my house. Maybe the guy in the older grade that you know will be there." I ask in a smile but he was frowning.
"I...uh, maybe we shouldn't. It's in the opposite direction and I don't think we should turn around just to get some snacks for your house. Don't you have things to eat?" Jeonghan questions.
"I guess I do...fine, we'll go there another time then." I say, walking into a neighbourhood.
"Your house is close to the school." Jeonghan points out while he was walking into the neighbourhood with me.
"I know, it's a good thing too because I don't have to take a bus!" I exclaim in a happy tone, walking up my driveway to get to my house.
Once I opened the front door I say "mom?" I didn't want anyone at home, but my mom doesn't have a job so she was usually always home.
"You're back from school Joshua? You always come home so late, I thought you would go out with Hansol somewhere after school." My mom questions, sounding surprised that I was home so early after school.
"Nah, I decided to come home. I brought a friend over if that's alright." I say while taking off my shoes.
"A friend?" My mom repeats, leaving the kitchen to walk up to us, I guess to see what friend I was talking about. "Oh, this is a new face...who's this?" My mother questions, putting on a smile.
"My name's Jeonghan, I'm working with Joshua on a project." He explains while bowing, jeez he's too polite.
"Oh, well it's nice to meet you Jeonghan. I'm Joshua's mom." She says, putting her hand out to shake.
"I think he knows that" I mumble under my breath which I think my mom heard.
Jeonghan shook my mothers hand back and I say "we'll be in my bedroom if you need us."
"Do you two want anything to eat, I can bring you up some snacks while you're working?" My mother asks, sounding extra polite since Jeonghan was someone she didn't know.
"Yeah, just bring us up anything" I say, bolting up the stairs to get to my bedroom so my mother couldn't ask me any more questions. I expected Jeonghan to follow behind me but when I turned around, he wasn't there.
I slowly got to the top of my stairs and looked down to where the front door was to see Jeonghan stuck in my mothers trap! The 'getting to know new friends' trap where she asks them a bunch of questions to see if they're a good influence or not.
I sighed deeply, going down the stairs and grabbed Jeonghan's hand. "Mom, we have a project to do." I say, making the excuse to get Jeonghan away from her, and so that we could both go into my bedroom.
I basically dragged Jeonghan up the stairs because he kept looking back at my mom since she was still trying to have a conversation with him.
Once I got Jeonghan into my bedroom I closed the door shut behind us and let a big breath of air out. "Sorry about that, my mom likes getting to know everyone I'm friends with...or anyone I associate with for that matter." I explain while walking over to my bed to sit down. "Don't you hate it when your mom does that?" I ask, looking at him with a tired expression on my face.
"I guess, but I can tell they care about us when they show concern like that." Jeonghan explains in a light smile and I shrugged, agreeing with him.
"I guess you're right." I faintly say, standing up and walking over to where Jeonghan was, standing in front of him.
Jeonghan looked at me into my eyes with his own eye shaking. "Lets...do something" I say in a smile which made him open his eyes a bit wider.
~~~~~~~~~
Thank you guys for reading this update, I hope you're all enjoying it so far. As you can see Joshua's kind of ditching his friends to be with Jeonghan, and Jeonghan doesn't have friends anyway so it doesn't matter for him.
