Chapter 6

Benson

I once again have the twins, especially Faith, on my mind. I'm trying to think of a way to see them again when an idea comes to me. I've been toying with a new project they would be perfect for. It doesn't hurt that it'll allow me to get close to them.

I don't have to think twice. I give the twin's office a call, something that I never do myself. Their pretty receptionist answered, and without hesitation, I asked for Faith. There is something special about the younger twin that has me asking to speak to her. When I hear her voice, I strongly desire to see her no matter what. I asked about a late afternoon meeting, but she mentioned an interview with a magazine. I know that it's Lance Crawford, and I find myself jealous that he'll be spending time with my girls.

At least I was able to get a dinner meeting scheduled. I don't know if both of the twins will be there, but I find that it's Faith who I want to see. I want to make her blush with just my smile.

My meeting with Lance Crawford is in about twenty minutes. As I make my way down to the lobby, I call my driver and ask him to bring my car to the front of my office building. My driver is there waiting for me when I arrive. I get into the back, and we make the short ride to the restaurant. I exit the vehicle, enter the restaurant, and see Lance Crawford waving me over. I walk over and extend my hand.

He stands and takes my hand in his. We greet each other with a handshake, take a seat, and he waves over the waitress.

A pretty, petite blonde comes over and gives us both a sweet smile. "Can I get you a drink while you look at the menu?"

I grin at her. "I'll take a gin and tonic with two limes, please."

Lance holds up his empty glass.

"Another one?" she asks.

"Yes, please," Lance replies.

We both take a look at the menu so that we are ready when she gets back. She returns shortly with our drinks, and we place our orders.

"Are you okay if we get started and then take a break for our meal? Also, I'll record our interview if you don't mind?"

"That's fine with me," I reply.

"Great." Lance takes out his phone and sets it up to record our conversation. "Tell me how you got involved in real estate," he asks me his first question.

I take a moment to gather my thoughts. "There was no big moment when I realized real estate was for me. I was more into architecture. That's what my degree is. I was more interested in renovating existing buildings to their original beauty to resell them for a profit. So I got my real estate license, and as they say, the rest is history."

Our meals arrive, and we take a break to eat before continuing the interview. We don't talk much during our lunch, which I appreciate.

The waitress clears our plates, and Lance continues to record. "So, tell me about your roots. Where did you come from, and what kind of child were you? Were you always ambitious?"

I lean back into my chair before responding, "My roots are here in San Diego. I was born and raised on Coronado Island. My parents were both lawyers. They're now retired and still live in the same house where I grew up. I was their only child, and they spoiled me rotten. As for being ambitious, I guess I have been for as long as I can remember. I always wanted to succeed, to be the best at everything I did."

"How old were you when you made your first million?"

I respond proudly, "I was twenty-six."

Lance does not even look surprised by my answer. "Where do you see yourself in ten years?"

I smile. "Sipping a Mai Tai on the beach of my very own island."

Lance raises his eyes in surprise. "Sounds perfect."

What I didn't mention to Lance is that in ten years, I plan on sharing that island with gorgeous brunette twins. Which reminds me, "Are you planning on interviewing the owners of Double Faced Advertising for this article?"

Lance's eyebrows furl, "Yes, why do you ask?"

"No real reason. I do business with Double Faced Advertising, and I think they'll be a good fit for your article," I explain, trying to appear nonchalant.

"I couldn't agree more, and it doesn't hurt that they are easy on the eyes. You know what I mean?" Lance says with a smirk that I want to wipe off his face.

"I have no idea what you mean." I bait him.

"You have to have noticed how gorgeous those twins are; they're intelligent, and they're from old money. That's the fucking trifecta!" he says without an ounce of professionalism.

Who the hell does this guy think he is? I need to get out of this interview before saying or doing something that can get me arrested.

He asks a few more questions. When he pauses, I stand up, and he looks at me.

"If there's nothing else, I really should get going." I make it clear that I'm ready to get the hell out of here.

"Yeah, I have everything I need." He looks at his watch. "It's about twin time anyway." He winks at me. Damn! The nerve of this guy.

He requests the check and pays it. We leave together. He holds his hand, and I shake it even though I don't feel good about this guy meeting and talking to the twins. If he does not treat them respectfully, I will drag his reputation as a journalist through the mud.

My car is waiting for me, but before I step in, I turn back to Lance. "For the record, Grace and Faith Henson are incredible women. Don't do or say anything that would paint them in any other light than that; I will not let you live it down." I get into my car and leave him on the curb with a shocked look on his face.

I arrive back at my office in less than twenty minutes. It takes everything in me not to call Faith and warn her about fucking Lance Crawford. I know that I have no right to alert them when I was just as bad as Crawford was when I first met them, but there's just something about Faith that makes me want to protect her.

I'm looking forward to seeing Faith and maybe Grace at dinner. I'll ask them outright what their thoughts are about Mr. Lance Crawford. I don't trust the man. I chuckle as I realize the same could be said about me when I first met them. However, they quickly changed my mind. Those two are extraordinary, especially Faith. I care about what she thinks of me. Another thing that is usually not me. I could give a fuck about people's feelings.

Dinner cannot get here fast enough. At least I know Faith will be there. I find myself not even caring if Grace joins us. It's Faith that has got my attention, and I want her with everything that I am. She's different; there's something special about her. I haven't given up my dream of having both twins together, but for whatever reason, I feel that Faith would be enough for me.

I plan on showing her exactly what she does to me. If not tonight, very soon!
