Chapter 3

Faith

I'm sitting at my desk rewriting a slogan for a new health bar when Liza appears at my door.

"Hey, I told you dinner reservations were at 6:30. Grace and I are waiting out front for you," she announces.

"Shit! Sorry. This ad is kicking my ass. It's hard to come up with a slogan for something that tastes like cardboard," I sigh.

"Can it wait?" That is Liza's way of asking if I'm cutting it close to a deadline.

"Yeah, I still have a day to stew it over." I closed the folder and returned it to my 'to-do' pile.

Liza smiles. "Well, let's go then. I don't want to be late for our reservation."

I stand up, grab my purse, and follow Liza out to where Grace is waiting for us.

"Well, this is a first, me waiting on you," she smirks proudly.

We all laugh as we make our way out to my car. I start the car before realizing I have no clue where we're going.

"Where to Liza?"

"The Oceanaire Seafood Room," she answers.

Grace and I look at each other and grin. "Yum!" we claim in unison.

The Oceanaire Seafood Room is a five-star restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego with an atmosphere that harkens back to a Miami superclub.

I pull out into traffic and make the short drive to the restaurant.

Once we arrive and are seated, someone at the bar catches my attention. The man turns towards us at the same time that I'm looking, and our eyes meet. Benson Easton's eyes are laser-focused on mine. When I get over my shock of seeing him here, I give him a faint smile. He smirks back at me and raises his glass. I nod and turn back towards the girls, feeling the heat rising into my cheeks. It's a shame that the gorgeous, oozing sex-appeal man can be beautiful outside and have such a shitty personality.

My sister notices my flushed face. "What the hell, Faith?"

"Don't look now, but Benson Easton is sitting over at the bar, and we might have already made eye contact," I whisper.

Of course, they both look! I roll my eyes. "Real subtle ladies!"

Out of nowhere comes a waiter with drinks on a tray we didn't order. He places the fruity cocktails on the table. "Compliments of Mr. Easton."

We each grab a drink and raise it towards Easton in gratitude. He smiles, and I can feel the heat pooling in my center. Once again, I feel the familiar burn in my cheeks. Damn, how can a simple smile have such an effect on me? I glance over at my sister and see that she's not being affected the same way I am. Damn it. She has always been the more confident one when it comes to men. I quickly turn away to hide my embarrassment by burying my crimson face into a menu.

Our waiter comes and takes our orders. After he leaves, I can see Easton approaching from the corner of my eye. Shit! I need to get myself together. He's just an asshole, not someone who should fluster me.

"Ladies, it's very nice to see you again. I just wanted to stop by and let you know that the promotional video you did for my business was spot on, exactly what I wanted. Thank you." He smiles brightly, and I know that warmth is flushing my face again like a fucking schoolgirl.

"Thank you so much for your kind words. We appreciate your feedback." My self-confident sister replies.

"No thank you is necessary, Grace, it was a job well done. You and Faith deserve a pat on the back for your excellent eye for design and Faith's eloquent wording. I should have said something this morning at your office. I'm glad we ran into each other to allow me to show you my gratitude," he explains.

My mouth drops open, mentioning our names and knowing who's who. Benson's not the same man who was in our office earlier. Where did the pompous ass go? Wherever he went, I don't ever want to see him again. I like this Benson Easton so much more. He merits the heat that my body can't seem to reign in.

"Enjoy your dinner, ladies." He gives us a make-you-wet grin before turning and leaving the restaurant. I watch his ass as he goes until I'm rudely interrupted.

"Like what you see, Faith?" My sister is grinning from ear to ear.

"He's easy on the eyes," I admit. "Is it hot in here?" I start fanning myself, and Liza and Grace laugh at my expense.

After eating dinner, we finish our night at the bar. We asked our waiter for the bill, but he said Mr. Easton already paid for it. I'm quickly changing my mind about Easton. Maybe he's not the imbecile I perceived from our meeting this morning. The jury is still out, but the least I can do is keep an open mind regarding him.

After dinner, we belly up to the bar, and Liza gives me a look. It's time to figure out why Grace has been acting slightly off lately.

"Alright, Grace." Liza's liquid courage is showing. "What the hell is going on, and if you say nothing, or I'm fine, one more time, I'll lose my shit right here, right now!"

I try not to giggle at Liza's demand. Grace looks at me, and I shrug. "What she said."

Grace takes a long sip of her drink before she sighs, and her shoulders drop. I put my hand on her back, letting her know we were there for her. She reaches into her purse, takes out a scrap of newspaper, and places it on the bar. She doesn't say a word and continues to drink.

I pick up the newspaper clipping and see a wedding announcement between her ex and a beautiful blonde.

"Shit!" I say before passing the clipping to Liza.

"Motherfucker!" Liza does not hold back. We both wrap our arms around Grace and sit silently while my sister drinks away her sorrows.

Grace had caught her ex, Jeremy, in bed with the blonde woman, now his bride. Grace and Jeremy had been together for three years, and never once did he bring up marriage to her. He cheats on her with this big-chested, blonde bimbo and is married to her within six months. Ouch! No wonder she's been off. If I ever see Jeremy anywhere, I will walk right up to him and punch him in the throat.

Grace finally speaks, "It's not like I want the cheating bastard back, but damn, six fucking months!" She finishes off her drink and orders another one.

I've been drinking water since we sat at the bar because I drove. Grace needs this, and Liza matches her drink for drink. I'm going to have my hands full leaving here tonight.

"The way I see it, that bitch did you a favor!" Liza's words come out with a hint of a slur.

I laugh. "Yeah, blondie saved you from marrying a cheating ass liar. You should send that bitch a fucking thank you card!"

Grace laughs loudly. "You know what? You are both right! She did do me a favor. I should thank her skanky ass." The three of us clink our glasses together to cheer Blondie's big tits!

I can already feel my sister's weight lift off of her shoulders.

"Thank you guys for this." Grace turns serious. "I'm so lucky to have you two." She pulls Liza and me in for a hug.

"No more tears for that asshole. Jeremy doesn't deserve them!" I hug her tightly.

She pulls away. "No more tears!" she proclaims.

The night ended with me dragging both of their giggling asses into our brownstone. I got Liza settled in the guest room, where she keeps clothes for these reasons. I then get my sister off the couch and up to her room.

Once everyone is in bed for the night, I collapse on my bed. My mind goes right to Benson Easton. Just thinking about his piercing eyes and megawatt smile brings heat between my thighs. I undress and crawl under my covers, fully naked. I place my finger on my clit and imagine Easton's face between my thighs. I'm soaked. I use my wetness for lubrication and circle my clit with my wet finger while I fantasize that it's Easton's soft tongue tasting me. It doesn't take long to reach my peak, feeling my orgasm rushing through my body.

"I have seriously got to get laid," I say breathlessly before falling into a deep sleep.
