Chapter 21
Benson
We just left Faith's office, and I don't know what the hell to think. I know that after seeing those letters addressed to Grace, there's no fucking way that I am letting Faith out of my sight. According to those letters, she is in danger of being taken too. What kind of sick lunatic would want to abduct two sisters who have never hurt anyone. Faith is so sweet and caring. I cannot wrap my head around someone wanting to harm her or Grace.
I look over at Faith, her head is against the window, and she looks deep in thought. I don't know where her head is at right now, but I feel like she needs time to digest this whole thing. God, I want to protect her from everything that this situation has laid on her shoulders. My hand has not left hers. I squeeze her hand, and she smiles sadly at me.
She moves her head from the window and places it on my shoulder. I release her hand and wrap my arm around her shoulder. I pull her close to me and drive with one hand.
I break the silence, "I think that it would be best to stay in my office apartment. The security in my building is top of the line."
"Whatever you think is best." She replies with sadness.
My fucking heart is breaking as I watch Faith withdraw.
I look over at her, "Baby, don't give up on Grace. If she is anything like you, she is fighting like hell to get back to you."
"I know that you are right, but it is so hard not knowing who the hell is behind all of this and why?" She says quietly.
"I know, Babe, but I like this detective. I believe that he is going to get whoever is behind this." I kiss the top of her head as I pull into my office building.
"What am I going to do for clothes? I have nothing!" She expresses her concerns to me.
I attempt to relieve her fears, "Don't you worry, I already texted Cindy to stop by your house to meet an officer that would escort her to your room to get everything you need."
She pulls her head off of my shoulder, "You did what?"
"I asked Cindy to get your things from your house," I say hesitantly.
"Thank you. That was sweet. Please remind me to thank Cindy." She says before she puts her head back onto my shoulder.
I breathe a sigh of relief, "Are you hungry? Do you want to call for delivery? Or I can call and have my housekeeper come to make us something?"
"You know that I can cook, right?" She asks. "Do you have groceries?"
"I did not know that you cook, but I suggested my housekeeper cook so that you did not have to." I place my fingers under her chin and lift her face so that I can look into her beautiful eyes, "Is it bad that I have no idea if I have groceries in my own home?"
She smiles at me, and it reaches her eyes. It is the Faith that I want back, need back, and I plan on doing whatever I can to get her back.
"I am not hungry, but I know that I need to eat something, and I find cooking therapeutic. Let me see what you have, and we will go from there. Okay?" She questions me.
"Okay." I release her and get out of my car. I love how she waits for me to open her door. I reach out my hand to her. She takes it and gets out. We make our way inside my building. I nod my greeting to the receptionist.
"Hello." Faith greets my receptionist with a smile.
"Good Afternoon, welcome to Easton Real Estate." She replies cheerily.
"Thank you." Faith replies.
We head to the elevator, and Faith hits the third-floor button.
I grin, "You remember my floor."
"I remember everything about you." She blushes.
I wrap my arms around her and pull her tightly into me. I kiss her forehead, "Have I ever told you how incredibly amazing I think you are?"
She shakes her head, "No, but the feeling is mutual."
My heart squeezes in my chest at her words to me. I have never felt that sensation before in my life. I am falling hard and fast for Faith, and I like it. I like it a lot.
The door dings then open. I see Cindy's eyes widen at the sight of me embracing Faith. I give her a smirk before releasing Faith. I take her hand and exit the elevator.
We walk over, and I introduce Faith to Cindy. "Babe, this is my assistant and the one who keeps this business running, Cindy Reynolds. Cindy, this is my girlfriend, Faith."
Cindy's jaw drops open, and Faith looks at me incredulously.
"What?" I grin down at Faith, "You started it, and I kind of like it."
She blushes the most stunning shade of pink, and I do another thing that I have never done before. I gently kiss Faith's soft lips right in front of Cindy.
When I pull away, I watch as Faith slowly opens her eyes. We both smile, "Come on, let's get you settled."
I glance at Cindy, and she is beaming like a proud mother. "Hold my calls."
"Yes, sir." She replies.
"Thank you for getting my things from my house for me." Faith expresses her gratitude to Cindy.
"It was no problem," Cindy responds, and they share a smile before we enter my office and head into my apartment.
"Where are my things? I want to grab a shower before eating." Faith asks.
"I had Cindy put them in the spare room," I answer.
She raises her brows, "In the spare room?"
"I didn't want to assume anything," I admit.
"Hmmm... is that where all of your girlfriends before me have slept." She gives me an adorable smirk.
I walk over to her and pull her into me. I lean down to whisper into her ear, "I have never had a girlfriend, and I have never had a woman in this apartment except for Cindy and you."
She shivers when I pepper kisses behind her ear and down her soft neck. Her hair smells like fragrant flowers.
"Mmmm, Benson, as wonderful as this feels, I must get a shower."
I reluctantly release her, "Need help?"
"Yes, please." She gives me a wink, "You can help me by showing me to the bathroom."
I laugh, "That was not the help that I was offering, but I will oblige. Follow me."
I show her into the spare bedroom.
"Is this really where you want me to sleep, boyfriend?" She questions.
"If it were up to me, I would have barricaded this room so that you had no choice but sleep with me," I confess.
Faith walks over to the bed where Cindy placed her things and picked them up. "Could you please show me to my room?"
I am once again surprised at her confidence, "Yes, ma'am. We are further down the hall." I take her belongings from her and walk to my, I mean, our bedroom.
I place her things on our bed. "You go ahead and get your shower, girlfriend. I will clean out a drawer for you and make room in the closet for you."
She gathers what she needs for her shower, walks over to me, and kisses me sweetly, "Thank you, boyfriend!"
She disappears behind the bathroom door, leaving me standing there grinning from ear to ear like a lovesick puppy. This girl! My girl!
