Male in the eighteenth century historical movie: I love you so much that I plundered an army and defeated an entire kingdom on your behalf. I killed my rival. Here is his head.

Male that I actually know in real life: Sams, close the curtain behind for the glare on the screen is irritating me. I really have to finish this quest. Make me something to eat, will you? No popcorn, for it's too boring. Something crispy, like pakodas? By the way, scratch my back, hmm?

This guy was annoying me to no end with his antics. No matter what I tried, he brought it back like a damn boomerang. He had to be destroyed.

"Fine, Rudhra. Actually Akash's been calling me for coffee. And it's been such a long time that I've met him. I'll buy you something on the way home? I'll ask him to drop me near the bakery on his motorcycle." I said.

"Uhhuh. Bread pakodas then." He said, his eyes glued to the screen. This devil! Did he not care about what I just said?

"Fine." I said grumpily. "I'll get going then."

He paused for a second and then looked at me. "You are going, like, right now? How is that even possible?" He asked, quite surprised. Huh?

"Why? Is there a problem? Oh, I forgot, you don't like him. I am sorry about that, but I can't do anything now that he's on his way." I lied. I was only going to my friend Meera's house to hear her rant about her psycho boss who had a unusually high pitched voice and made everything sound annoying.

"It's just that I happen to know he's online." He said.

"What! How do you know that?" I asked.

"Cos we're playing the game together. He's online." He said.

I couldn't believe what I'd just heard. "You're friends with him and playing games with him?"

"Yes! He's a good addition to my team, he's a brilliant strategist actually. I am glad." He said.

"You've went and joined hands with him just so you could win a game?" I asked him.

He became serious and his eyebrows shot up. "I didn't- he asked me! He was the one who started talking about games and asked for my id! By the way, I caught you! You can't evade buying snacks for me now!"

Life was so funny. Ever since I'd met Rudhra, my life had turned upside down, front to back, back to front, laterally, horizontally vertically, ovally, parabolicly, and every other thing. The guy I'd liked for a long time had to become his friend. I didn't know if this was something to be proud of, or to be embarrassed about.

I smiled. "Actually this isn't about snacks, Rudhra. I wanted you to be jealous of him, and incite you."

His eyebrows shot up even higher as he looked at me. "Why would I be even jealous of him when you're my fiancé?"

What was I even thinking earlier? I was so stupid! Rudhra, despite how he looked, how he talked and how he behaved, was pretty simple and was an innocent guy. He didn't understand complex dirty tricks.

"I know, what was I thinking?" I said, making my way towards him, and flinging the controller from his hand. He looked at me keenly while I put my hands around him and hugged him tightly.

"I hope I am not interrupting your game, Rudhra." I said, pulling his face for a kiss, and for a good few moments we were lost in our own little world. "I am so sorry." I added, though I wasn't sorry at all.

"Nuhh. No you aren't. The game's horrible. I am very bad at it actually, all the other players curse me. Now, can we please continue?" He said, and pulled me in for another beautiful, wonderful, delightful ( and all nice adjectives) kiss.

"Really Rudhra? In that case, I am not getting you any snacks then" I said.

"NOOOOOO!"

Later, in Meera's flat, I couldn't stop thinking about how adorable he was. He wasn't actually, but sometimes in very rare occasions. Meera was ranting to me about her boring workspace problems and I was afraid that listening to them accidentally would cause my ears to bleed. One only had to sympathetically in situations like that. If riled up, Meera was like a cyclone that messed up mercilessly in its path.

"And then the boss said that the finance scales were quite dipping compared to the last fiscal year...." She said.

A light bulb just went in my head. "Wow!"

"What?" She asked.

"If you remove the 'n' from finance, you get fiancé." I said.

She looked quite mad. But she continued anyway. "It's not fine that I get to be the only one who has to bear..."

"Wow!"

"Now what?" She asked.

"If you add an 'ac' to fine, you get fiancé. COOOL, right? Pun unintended."

She looked like she wanted to kill me now. "Shut up and listen to me or I'll tell everyone about your secrets. I mean, if I quit now, I won't have enough money to save for..."

"Wow!"

"Okay now, I am curious. Now what?"

"What's money?" I asked.

"Just say, it's annoying when you build up like that." She said.

"Money is rupees. Rupees is RS. RS is Rudhra+Sam."

"Wow! What a wonderful coincidence! It truly must be work of the lords above." She said sarcastically.

"You don't understand Meera. It's just that, recently, I can't stop thinking about him. Even a roundabout reminder of him makes me smile like crazy! I feel very blessed to have met him, you know?"

"Yeah, yeah. Even though he reminds me of this crazy monkey I saw in the zoo once, and he keeps picking a fight with me, I have to admit that he's pretty serious when it comes about you."

"I know right?" I said.

"I was wondering something. Why hasn't he given you a ring?"

"That's because he's busy playing video games. Also I told him not to disturb me." I said.

"Idiot! I am asking you about the one you wear on your finger. Didn't he ask you to marry him?" She asked.

"Oh! That!" I said. I hadn't really thought much about it. "It was a spur of the moment thing actually. It wasn't like he rehearsed for it or anything like that. It was spontaneous. It wasn't like those Youtube Videos."

"I see. It makes sense then." She said.

"I don't know, Meera. Is a ring really that important? I haven't thought much about such things."

"It isn't. What's important is the love between the two people involved." She told me. "Now will you listen to my rant?"

"Of course I will! Who else would?" It would suffice to say that I didn't hear a single word of what she said thereafter, but I did feed her some cake, just like every other loyal friend would.

I came home to find that he wasn't playing the horrid video game any longer. I put my purse on the sofa and came across an odd wooden loop on the floor.

"Rudhra, come here!" I called out to him, and he came running from his house next door. Good thing that he remembered that sometimes.

"I think the table's leg has unhinged or something. Will you help me put it?" I asked him.

His face turned into an amused grin that made it go wide. "Oh! It's here. I've been looking all over for this."

"What's this Rudhra?"

"It's a ring."

"Huh?"

"I made this ring. I've been going to woodwork class recently. And I've been learning to make things like this." He said.

"Wow Rudhra. That's the most beautiful looking ugly ring I've ever seen in my entire life." I said, not able to hold back my tears.

I texted Meera a picture of the ring.

Meera: Is that a can opener?

Me: It's a ring that Rudhra made for me.

Meera: (0_0)

Me: And what's more, he said he'll make one every time I'll lose one! So I don't have to constantly worry about it! Hehehe.

Meera: (ノ °益°)ノ 彡 ┻━┻
