Neel Malhotra, a 25 years old, handsome and good looking guy ; Works as creative head at Birdsong, one of the leading advertising agency in Mumbai ; Only son of Prerna Malhotra and Abinash Malhotra.

Abinash Malhotra died, when Neel was in his 09th class. From that point of his life, his mother became his only hope and lifeline as she herself took hold of his father's business as well as her son's responsibility alone. But she got all the moral support in this from her family, and two best friend, Anupriya Sharma and her husband Shashank Sharma as well as her husband's two best friend, Samrat Khanna and his wife Piyali Khanna - founders and owners of Birdsong.

Neel feels very proud of his mother and considers her as his father, friend, guide, mentor, his strength - in fact everything.

Neel has some good friends who always have stood by him in his thick and thin of life. They are Samaira Khanna (Sam) - daughter of Samrat and Piyali Khanna, Tejindar (Tej/Teji) , Zubin and Krutika.

Among them Sam is his chuddy-buddy (family friend as well as childhood and school friend) and Tej, Zubin and Krutika are both his and Sam's common friend from their college life. And now all of them are working together as a creative team at Birdsong.

All (including their family, friends and office colleagues) know that Neel and Sam both know eachother in and out. Neel has been secretly in love with Sam from his school life yet has not confessed his feelings to Sam. And Neel's mother, Sam's father and Neel and Sam's friends all have seen and felt it in his eyes and from his behaviour. Since then, they all tease Neel every now and then about it and push him to confess to Sam. But he refrains himself every time saying himself that Sam should realize this herself and thus he wants to wait for the right time to confess.

Sam has always thought and believed that both Neel and Sam have not kept anything hidden or secret in their minds. Sam was confident that Neel was a like an open diary for her and so was she for Neel. But, there is a secret that Neel has been hiding from his family and friends even from Sam that is only known to himself, and he does not know how and why he is doing this continuously years after years; Again he often thought that how and why he chose not to share it with anyone not even with his mother or his beloved Sam. The secret is that, Neel has a secret female friend named "R" ; According to him she is only a pure and true friend nothing else; She is a virtual friend whom he has never met, neither he has seen/got any photo of her nor he has heard her voice, as they chatted only over text messages through emails and other social media, because they promised eachother that they will never try to meet eachother or never try to get/ to see eachother's  photographs or never try to hear eachother's voice through phone calls or voice messages, nor they will force each other to do so. They also promised eachother that if they are destined to meet, they will surely meet one day by God's grace; Not only this, if this happens, even if their expectation regarding each other's look or voice or personality or other characteristics qualifications are not fulfilled, they still will maintain this friendship. Because they both think that they have a very pure, unique, must be cherish able and special kind of bonding and they must continue this bonding for lifelong.

Neel feels very much peaceful, content, satisfied when he shares his past and present, his all day events, experiences, thoughts, future plannings, opinions, attitudes and feelings as well as chats about his friends, family, love and beloved with this special friend. He feels restless whenever he misses his chatting session with her and feels something is missing when due to some reasons he cannot/could not ever share his day with her. Even he tried to make a sketch of her only by imagining and thinking about her all day events, experiences, talks,thoughts,opinions, attitudes, feelings, her past and present, future plannings, her friends, family and colleagues and so on that she shared with him in these years. But he could only sketched her eyes, he does not know whether the eyes he sketched are really hers or not, still he tries to make her sketch without any reason. May be deep in his heart he wants to meet her, see her, hear her voice once.

Neel has grown this friendship from his last year of his school life when accidentally he sent an email to an unknown e-mail address which belonged to hers.

As it was a mistaken e-mail, so Neel didn't realized first that he had mistakenly sent an e-mail to an unknown address and so he did not check his mail box for three days as he got three days off from his school for some festival and spent and enjoyed these three days with his friends and family.

Neel after having three gala days of festivals, goes to his teacher for getting the feedback regarding his project details. But he became shocked when he got to know from his teacher that he did not get any mail from him. Neel clarified his teacher that he had sent the email the day before holiday started. But the teacher replied same as before. So, he went back to home disappointed and then checked out his mail box once again.

And what he saw then was a shocking truth for him. He finally realized that he sent that email to an unknown address mistakenly. And a new mail has come from that unknown email address holder to his mail box. He opened that new mail hoping some rebukes and scoldings from the sender, but to his shock, he got a long letter of an unknown person , who did not even mentioned his or her full name in anywhere of that email, he/she just mentioned himself or herself as his well wisher. Under the ending of his or her long email there was just a name initial as "R".

The email was like this :

"I'm extremely sorry because I've read your project details and I also want to share my feelings regarding this project details that I feel there is some big mistakes, so I've corrected and changed it a little bit by myself from my viewpoints without your permission and knowledge. I've added once again your project details and the project details made by me in this email and I request you not to judge this act of mine without comparing these two project details.

I also want to clarify that, I'm also in my last year of school and liked your project topic given in the email very much, I felt your project might not get approval because of those mistakes thus I just wanted to help you nothing else. I totally understand and appreciate if you take my help or not is totally your decision and I want to assure you that, I will not interfere in your project nor in your life here after. I am really very sorry if I had made any inconveniences in your life by sending this email and wishing you all the best for your project and for your good, happy and peaceful life.

And after reading the full email thoroughly Neel goes into a deep thought questioning himself what he has just seen and read? What he has just seen and read was it real or was he dreaming himself ? He pinched himself to be sure if he was dreaming or not. And he really got hurt due to his pinch to himself and being excited screamed at his pinch to himself, realizing that he has seen and read the truth, it was not his dream, it was a reality that, the project details made by him has some serious flaws and the project details made by his well wisher corrected all his mistakes and it looked best to him now. And he immediately admitted to himself that he should submit this corrected version of the project details not the one he made earlier. Unknowingly his lips were spread because of a huge smile as he felt contentment thinking that in some other corner of the world, there is someone, who is his well wisher and who cares for him this much. He does not even know that whether his well wisher is a girl or a boy neither he knows is he or she a known person or totally an unknown one to him, but deeper in his heart he felt that this well wisher has made a special soft corner for himself or herself by this act of his or her. So he, in his mind took a firm decision that, he must submit the corrected version of this project details and whether it gets accepted and approved or not he must thank the person who did a great favour to him by increasing his or her helping hand towards him and for his or her kind, helpful, sympathetic and generous nature. He also said to himself that he will make him or her his friend and will maintain his friendship with him or her till his death no matter what comes in his way as he felt a very familiar and strong bond and connection of trust and faith with his well wisher. And then he sent an email carefully to his teacher, providing the project details corrected by his well wisher and waited for the feedback of his teacher.
