Trail Mix Trap

I won't elaborate... but hey- @CS_does_randoms? You'll definitely know what this is about just looking at the title.

Anyways- for the rest of you, enjoy! Or not.

The lights flickered. Curious, sitting in their room, flinched for a second before they put down their book to find a candle.

Not a moment after, Rush sped down the hallway and shattered all the lights, with Ambush chasing him close after. Hide seemed to be traversing through closets left and right, slim line of goo jumping through the air at speeds Curious didn't know was possible for them. Screech came rolling afterwards not too long later- only to be followed by Dupe, laughing their soul out as Curious could hear a distant scream about "it was MY TURN on the Xbox!"

Curious sighed, getting a candle out and lighting it up before sitting back down to read. The lights in the hallway slowly came back up, glass bits slithering away through cracks in the wall to recycle themselves, and by the time everything was back to normal the candle had run out.

Well, hopefully they don't come b-

A flickering of the lights, along with a sickly crash and the fluorescent lightbulbs had been shattered again. The five entities seemed to be chasing each other down the hallway- Curious didn't care to look down the hallway.

They shut their book, rubbing their temples as the lights slowly started to regenerate themselves again. Having given up on doing something that required a light source, they went into the hallway to get something else-

Bad idea, as Rush, Ambush, Hide, and Dupe narrowly missed them as Screech somehow barreled into their stomach.

Curious coughed as the quintuplet of chaos slowly stopped what they were doing, turning around to face the distressed yellow light as an alarmed look spread across their faces.

"Oh, hi, Curious!" Screech giggled, breaking the silence. "What are you doing?"

"Screech, let's go somewhere else, uh... hii, Curious?" Rush seemed very nervous- like a little kid who got in trouble with their mom, Curious thought.

Swallowing his annoyance, Curious just muttered a "hi" back as they went to the supply closet and tried to see if there was anything in there that they could do. Painfully aware of the five entities staring at them while they left, they closed the door behind themselves and started digging around the crates.

Not long after he found a small bag of trail mix did the lights flicker and crash away again, followed by a series of whooping and yelling.

I really need to get a way to get at least one of them to shut up and stay still...

Curious looked at the rope strewn across the floor and the bag of trail mix in their hands, getting an idea... and while the lights in the hallway turned back on, they had somehow managed to make a series of knots with rope taped all across the walls. The bag of trail mix was tied to the ceiling with a dangling rope- now, all they had to do was leave the door open and wait.

The five entities seemed to have left- but not long after Curious was back in his room, the lights started flickering again. Rush whizzed past, once again followed by everyone else- but now, they seemed to be racing one another.

"I'm winning! Sucks to be you!" Hide's voice rang out, echoing through closet walls.

"Hey! Not fair, you guys have the advantage!" Screech whined.

"Beats me, I'm already at the finish line," Ambush said immediately after.

"I've been here!" Dupe grumbled, low voice ringing through the walls.

"No, I'm better than all of you, I took a shortcut and has been hiding in this corner," Rush boasted, spinning around. "You guys never laid out a racetrack-"

"I literally saw you trying to sneak into that corner," Screech retorted. "Go away!"

"Is he cheating? Rush, we're gonna disqualify you!"

     "No, Screech is lying!"

"Well, I still got here first-"

     "No, I got here-"

"This isn't faiir! I don't get hyperspeed like you guys-"

     "Well, I-"

     "No-"

"What are you guys up to?" A significantly more serene voice appeared, and Curious could see a dim teal glow emitting through the crack under his door.

"Uh... hi, Guiding!" Rush mumbled. "We were-"

"We were racing! And tell Rush he cheated," Screech interrupted.

     "No, I didn't-"

"Tell them I got here first, closet jumping is clearly faster than whatever the hell Ambush does-"

     "Hey! Language, Hide!"

     "Sorry, Scree-"

Curious could hear a sigh coming from Guiding as a strong blue glow started radiating around the hallway. "You guys go to the entities' hallway and calm down, okay?"

     "Alright!"

The five entities seemed to be stepping somewhere- and with a small whirr, the blue glow disappeared. Curious peeked out of their room, trying to see what happened, and somehow managed to get Guiding's attention just looking around. Guiding waved a small hello, and Curious waved back.

Guiding beckoned Curious over, floating into the air, but Curious was still used to walking as if they were a player. They met eyes, and after a while Guiding crossed their arms.

"Alright, stop making me have to look up every time I want to talk to you," Guiding floated over, twirling a circle around Curious while they stifled a laugh.

"Well, I didn't exactly know I'd grow about another half foot," Curious replied shortly. Guiding elbowed them in the arm, floating up to meet Curious' eye level.

"Half a foot and another inch!" Guiding teased.

Curious pushed Guiding's face away with a hand before crossing their arms. "Have you seriously been counting?"

Guiding floated back down to ground level. "What's stopping me?"

"Oh, get off me," Curious grumbled as Guiding started poking their face just for spite. They earned a small giggle in response as Guiding levitated over to their other side, clinging on to Curious' arm with a triumphant look.

"...okay, then," Curious replied, rapping at Guiding's forehead. "By the way- how'd you get that chaos quintuple to go to the entities' hallway so fast?"

     "Portal," Guiding responded shortly.

     "You can make portals?"

"No, we can make portals," Guiding corrected. "I'm just better."

"We sound like Rush and Ambush," Curious grumbled as Guiding snickered next to them. "And can you get off my-"

"Oh, why is there a bag of trail mix tied to the top of the supply closet?" Guiding let go of Curious' arm, floating over. "Here, lemme get it off real quick..."

"Wait-" Curious went after Guiding, trying to pull the painfully unaware blue light back-

     CRASH.

     Too late.

"Ow!" Guiding yelped, trying to wipe a fleck of dust off of their bangs- but the trap Curious had originally set for Rush or Dupe might have worked a bit too well. Guiding's hands were tied to the ceiling, and an startled expression took over as they tried to kick their way out.

"Oops," Curious mumbled, making their way over to try and untie Guiding.

"Wh- what do you mean, 'oops'?" Guiding stammered. "Wh-"

"That was supposed to be for Rush or Dupe- they were getting a little annoying," Curious muttered. "I didn't expect you to- hang on..."

"Oh no," Guiding said. "You didn't forget how you made the knots, did you?"

"Bingo," Curious grumbled, hiding his hands in his face.

     "Dammit, Curious!"

     "I'm sorry- I'm sorry!"

"Well, maybe pull on that string, and- no, the other one, that makes it tighter- ow!"

Curious sucked in a breath before trying to remember how he tied the knot all over again.
