Chapter 3
Ayannah's POV
Angie lead me down the hall back to the big room from before. "Just a warning, they can be... a lot"
I laughed. "I'm sure it'll be fine"
She lead me into the room and I heard screaming, the screaming of overexcited children. I laughed as I saw Philip and a boy that looked almost exactly like Alexander Hamilton but he smaller, had shorter hair, and was without freckles wrangling 2 little kids running around.
"John! Stop chasing James!" Philip yelled. The other two didn't listen, they kept running around. The boy next to Philip sighed.
"They're not gonna listen Pip" He muttered.
Angie laughed from beside me. "BOYS!" She screamed. The little kids skid to a stop and stared at Angie. "Stop running!"
They put their heads down. "Sorry Angie" they said at the same time.
Philip scoffed, got up and stood in front of us. "How come they always listen to you?"
Angie smirked. "Because I'm amazing and the favorite sibling"
The boy that was with Philip came over and stood beside Philip. "No. It's because she sounds like mom. It used to work on me too" He looked at me. "Who's this?"
"This is Aya, she's staying with us for a while" Philip said. "Aya, this is our oldest little brother, Alexander Junior, or AJ"
AJ grabbed my hand and kissed it, just as his brother did when I met him. "Pleasure to meet you, beautiful"
I heard Angie and Philip stifle laughs. I bit the inside of my lip slightly, trying not to laugh myself. "Aren't you like 10?" I said without thinking.
Philip and Angie bust out laughing, not being able to hold it in any longer. AJ's face turned red. "I'm 13!"
"AJ, you don't turn 13 for another 3 months!" Angie said between laughs.
"Oh shut up" AJ whispered.
I laughed lightly and ruffled his short curly hair. "It's ok, kid. You're just like your dad"
AJ huffed and stopped away. "I'm not a kid!" He yelled.
Philip and Angie laughed harder. They calmed themselves down and looked at the two younger boys, who were previously chasing each other. "John, James, come here for a sec" Philip said.
"Hi!" The smaller of the two boys exclaimed. I laughed slightly, the excited little kid reminding me of my neighbor.
"Hello" I smiled sweetly, crouching down next to him.
"I'm John! I'm 5!"
"I'm Aya, I'm 16" I giggled and turned to the other little boy. "You must be James then"
The boy nodded. "I'm 7 years old" he added proudly.
I stood up straight, making sure my dress didn't come up. I really didn't feel like explaining my leg to 5, 7, and 13 year olds from the past.
"Ok boys, you can go play" Angie called to James and John.
The younger boys ran off and I faced the oldest of the Hamilton kids.
Philip spoke up, "So now you've met everyone but William, who in time out so we're not going to see him"
"And dad" Angie added.
"Yes and dad" Philip muttered. "You think you're gonna like it here?"
I grinned. "Definitely."
————————————————————
It was now late at night. I'm laying in the guest bedroom of the Hamilton household in one of Angie's night gowns. Everyone's asleep and I still haven't met Alexander Hamilton. Eliza said something about him probably still being at work. Which isn't surprising. At all.
I sat there staring at my leg. Well, the robotic one. I usually take it off to sleep but I'm too scared to sleep. I don't usually sleep much, last time I did it I never saw my mom again. She's always working, although I know she's not really working. She reminds me of Alexander. I'm not sure if anything I know about him is really true, but if it is, I can definitely say I relate to his kids. Especially Philip and Angie.
My thoughts travel to dad. How scared must he have been when he came home to me gone? I'm basically all he has left, and now he doesn't know where I am. Or when I am in that matter.
"Aya?" I hear someone whisper from the doorway.
I turn my head to see Angie standing there, her once pulled up short brown hair, now down and fluffy. "Hey Angie" I whisper back.
She walks towards my bed and sits down next to me. "What are you doing up?"
"I could ask you the same question" I stated softly.
"I woke up so I was just getting a drink of water." Angelica replied. "You look like you haven't slept yet, seeing as your light is still on"
"What if I just turned it on?" I smirked.
"Ok smarty pants" It was still dark but I saw Angie roll her eyes slightly. "Why is you light on then?"
"I can't sleep" I mumbled.
"Well thanks for all the new information" Angie said sarcastically.
I smiled. "No problem"
"Seriously though, what's wrong?" Angie said sympathetically.
I hesitated. "It's complicated"
We stayed silent for a moment. I'm not sure when the last time I actually slept was but I knew I probably wouldn't get some for a while.
"Can I ask you a question?" Angie whispered.
"Sure" I replied.
"Where are you from?"
I looked at the ground. What am I supposed to say? About a 30 minute walk away, oh but 222 years in the future. Cause that's completely logical. "I'm an immigrant" I murmured. It wasn't a complete lie. My parents were immigrants but the immigrated while my mom was pregnant with me.
"Oh" I felt Angie's gaze shift to me. "My dad's an immigrant"
I smiled softly and looked up at her. "You should probably get to bed"
Angie nodded. "You should too" She stood up. "I'll see you in the morning"
"Goodnight Angie"
"Night Aya"
And for the first time in weeks, I chose to go to sleep.
Hi. I'm so sorry for not updating. I have tons of ideas for this book so I'm probably spam updating over the next like week. I'm going to try to update at least this and Blooming more but I make no promises. Thanks for reading and have a good day/night!
