Chapter 1 - I'm really dying

The story begins with a young 28 year old woman Tak Dong-kyung sitting at her computer at the Web novel editing company named "Life story".

She thinks to herself "Why am I even working over here? The CEO himself doesn't like me , he always pressurizes me with lots of work, I hate my life".

Three hours later,

Suddenly as she was walking back home there was a sharp pain in Dong-kyung's head , at first she shrugged it away thinking it was a headache but later on the pain increased so she booked an appointment with a doctor at the Seoul national University hospital , the appointment was tomorrow morning.

The next day, Tak Dong-kyung got ready wearing a cute blue sweater cable knit from AHWE and a float check pleated skirt from LINE. She finished off her gorgeous look with the Joy Shopper bag from MARGESHERWOOD.

(AHWE , LINE and MARGESHERWOOD are famous korean companies for accessories.)

Today was the day her life was going to completely change and she had no idea about it. Tak Dong-kyung sits in a doctor's office and stares blank-faced while he tells her she has multiple brain tumors or in one word "Glioblastoma" .

When he says she'll need to be admitted for a week for a biopsy and examination, Dong-kyung says that's a no go; she can't take that much time off work and she needs to focus on the web novel editing.

Exasperated at her nonchalant and calm response, her doctor explains she'll only live for another three or four months without surgery. Even if she has surgery and lives another year, it'll be tough on her due to all the symptoms. He goes on saying that The biopsy itself can be dangerous and can cause her to lose her life.

Dong-kyung asks if she's going to die. He says yes. She takes that in and stands calmly. Then she hands him an event plan for her client named "Doctor King Yeomra" and peppily asks him to kindly send his episodes in on time, although she knows he's busy.

It turns out the doctor is also a part time writer, and she's his editor. Dong-kyung says he seemed like a "real doctor" today (which he is) and thanks him for getting her in early for an MRI. He's at a loss as she smiles, and wishes him luck for writing his episodes, and leaves like he didn't just give her earth-shattering news.

(Love Sight Instrumental (널 보면 시간이 멈춰 어느 순간에도 Instrumental) · TOMORROW X TOGETHER starts playing as Dong-kyung looks at the handsome doctor)

As Dong-kyung walks through the hospital corridor in a daze and bumps into someone wearing a white doctor's coat. She looks up at his face and stares in awe of how handsome he looked until he says with a smile, "I know I'm handsome, but I'm busy."

He is none other than Myul-mang himself , he waits in the emergency room and counts down. While several people are rushed into the hospital after a stabbing incident where a guy goes rampage in downtown Seoul and stabs five people , Dong-kyung stares at the victims being rushed in dismay and says "That's just crazy" and then the receptionist gives her the hospital bill and seeing "686,200 won" she says again "Oh god this is crazier". Recalling that she only has only about three to four months to live, she asks for a three-month installment plan.

(Myul-mang is the korean word for doom.)

In the ER, the man that Myul-mang is waiting for arrives. He then proceeds to use some kind of hypnosis and convinces the nurse to leave him alone with the patient who is the perpetrator of the stabbings. Myul-mang commands the man to open his eyes.

The man jolts awake. He accuses the man of stepping on his doom turf and begins strangling him. The man's wound heals when Myul-mang collects his doom back, but he vows he'll return it to him one day when the time comes, he further adds he will probably be waiting to die desperately.

He says "Since now you're about to find out , what can be more terrible than doom itself."

Myul-mang smirks and says "Life".

Myul-mang then goes up to the roof where he sees the Shin the goddess of fate , dressed in a hospital gown as a young teenager, waits for him. She's essentially his boss and likens herself to a gardener tending to human lives. She calls him the butterfly that pollinates her flowers indicating the humans as her flowers and doom as her butterfly.

(Shin is the korean word for God / Goddess.)

Her peaceful demeanor remains unchanged by his anger at being forced to do this work for her for eternity. He grumbles it has been 1000 years and that today is his birthday, but she reminds him he was never born to have a birthday as such and he isn't human. She sends him to "become someone's wish" as he can only grant their wish on this day. Myul-mang laments that even his birthday is all about humans. He leaves out a deep sigh and says "Insignificant humans....." 

She says that he has no choice but to do as she says and he calls her insane and vanishes in thin air.

   Shin gazes out of the hospital room window, her eyes following the movements of the humans bustling on the street below. Despite the seriousness of her condition, her face lights up with a childish smile as she watches the world outside.

A nurse enters the room, her footsteps soft against the linoleum floor. "How are you feeling today, Maam?" she asks gently, adjusting the IV drip beside the bed.

Shin turns her attention to the nurse, her smile widening. "I'm fine," she replies cheerfully. "Just enjoying the view."

(Doom (멸망) · SHIN MINYONG- Doom at Your Service (Original Television Soundtrack)starts playing in the background when Shin starts to worry a little about Myul-mang and Dong-kyung.)

After the nurse leaves, her smile falters for a moment as a shadow of concern crosses her features. "But something ominous is brewing," she adds softly, her eyes narrowing slightly. "I can feel it in the air. Myul-Mang and Dong-kyung... their paths are about to intersect with something dangerous."

She shakes off the thought with a small, determined smile. "But for now, I'll enjoy this moment of peace." Turning back to the window, she continues to watch the world outside.
