Kara the Great
I spent all day looking through almost 500 reference photos to calm down from a self induced anxiety attack (too much coffee... everytime...) and most of the night either painting my room or making this drawing which I've been wanting to make forever but could never get it right. And today it's now one of my favorite pieces. I'm actually happy that I got to add so much detail too without it looking too small or crowded.
This is another character that is in Through His Eyes that I don't think I've given much info about in the story yet. She is Kara Tersa, who's boastfully known as Kara the Great, the last queen of Howltie before the four Orphaned Kings. (And someone I'm not gonna talk to much about cause my friend hates her for some reason😅, and I don't think she'd like reading about her, lol.) A brutal sorcerer who began one of Howltie's longest war to repair the damage of one of the coldest rulers, and so hated her name was purposefully erased from both history scrolls and birth certificates, the Ice Queen (because I like ice King from adventure time and its simple...)
Which is where Through His Eyes is taking place, decades since she's died at one of the harder points of that war.
Although I am always combing through how to better the chapters I've made and continue to plot up the next ones way in the future, I still can't decide if I am just going to leave Kara as a piece of the history or bring her back because she's quite capable of doing so and is technically the only reason this plot has happened. So if she were to come back alive I can't help but think of her visiting the battlefield her husband died at and grave yard her father is in. It's something I've thought about for a long time and only now managed to draw properly.
I
t's technically of her husbands burial site since her father's is much more simple but I feel it would still convey the same feeling for both.
I'm pretty sure I showed a drawing of her before in one of my earlier posts, I believe I was showing a bunch of my best sketches in this book? It would be the one with the deer skull and phantom hands. These hands are actually a part of her powers although very annoying, because they're spirits so they will do what they want and most of the time that is to mess with her and steal her things. To be honest I put a lot of thought into them even though they're like the most useless spirits ever, it's my personal take on what I'd do as a ghost, absolutely nothing but fuck with people and take whatever I want just to play with.
