It will be fun?

^ thats Jace overhead

JACE'S POV

The ride to Highland was long and boring. All my parents did was talk about how fun and exciting it will be living in a new town, and my older brother, Finn, slept the whole time, and I was pretty much just sitting, doing nothing. fun right?

FUN!? REALLY? what I consider fun is going to the mall or something, not moving all the way from our sweet home in Wisconsin to stupid Highland. This was the ultimate definition of not fun if you asked me. Which no one did. There were a lot of reasons why I didn't want to move but the biggest one was the fact that I would have to leave behind my friends, Allison, Marisa, and Nick. We had all been best friends since we were in diapers, we had made PLANS for the future together, and me moving had not been one of them. I didn't know what kind of people I'd meet in this new town, so lets just say I'm not looking forward to it.

CASEY'S POV

It is1:00 am and I am still up despite the protest from my mother. I was trying to finnish my english lit paper on 'how to kill a mocking bird' that is due tomorrow. But seeing as I didn't even read the book when I was supposed to I pretty much was getting absolutely no where. Now I was just sitting at my bay window looking down on the neighborhood from my second story room. It was something I did every night, never looking for anything in particular, just something. But of course just like how it is with everything else in my life I was usually disappointed.

Although tonight seemed different than others, and looking across my dark yard of nothing, I could see the the old "for sale" sign thats been sitting on the Anderson's yard for a year was gone. Now your probably thinking "so what". So what, is the fact that nobody new has moved into my boring old town in over three years, so if somebody was it would mean this town was actually getting interesting.

I stayed looking out my window for about 45 more min before I actually started to get ready for bed. Though as I was putting on my night clothes I could see headlights shining in the Anderson's yard and I moved closer to my window to get a better. Now that I was closer I could clearly see that the headlights I'd seen were coming from a big U HAUL truck that was indeed sitting in the yard across the street. I watch as two blonde haired teens got out of the truck, one who was a girl, one who was a boy. Soon after followed a middle age couple who had light brown and dark brown hair. I had to say they were a pretty good looking bunch, and the first new people I'd seen in three years. Looks like we just got some new neighbors.

Well neighbors, I hope you have a wonderful stay in Highland.

JACE'S POV

Yes! finally I can get out of this car. We had just pulled up to the new"home" and even though I was brought here against my own will, I was at least glad to be here just so I could get out of that compact little car. During the whole drive mom didn't even want to stop for anywhere so she could save us time and as a result my legs haven't gotten to stretch properly in a couple of hours and let me tell you something else. They were not happy about it.

Looking around I took notice of the neighborhood. You could tell we were on the nicer side of town, where all the cars were nice and expensive and the houses all had yards that they looked like they had just come from the salon. Sure it was nice and all, but nothing could compare to our house in Wisconsin. Thats where our real home is and this is where we are, but for the moment be, there theres nothing I can do about it. One thing I could do, however was get me some tasty pop tarts.

After we move some boxes in the house I was finally left to my task of sitting in my new room eating my delicious guilty pleasure. looking out of my window I silently watched down on the streets that were now apart of my new town, wondering what was going to become of this new and unfamiliar place. Was it going to be fun( I doubt it ) or was it going to suck like I highly predicted? Who knows, I sure didn't. I might as well try to make the most of it though. Which is why I decided that starting tomorrow I was going to really try in this new town. Now, don't think this means i'm actually happy to be here. I'm not. But what good is it going to do me being a brat about it?

With this in mind I start to unpack some of my boxes and set up my new room a bit. I was just about to make up my bed when I realize I don't have my comforter and sheet set. Thinking I left it in the moving truck I quickly run downstairs to go get it from outside. It had gotten a bit chillier since earlier and I welcome the cool breeze as it brushes against my skin when I step outside. I take another moment to look over the neighborhood and jump when I see a figure sitting in a window across the street, staring at me. Looking closer i could see it was a girl about my age with light brown hair cut short to her chin. Pretty, but creepy as heck. Probably figuring she had stared enough the girl turned away and a few seconds later the light from the window went dark.

Realizing I was now just standing here like a crazy person, I finally grabbed the box with my comforter and headed back inside, up to my room. I made my bed, before changing into my pajamas and climbing in. Though I didn't go to sleep yet instead I anxiously lay awake, wondering once again what This new unfamiliar place would have in store for me.
