CHAPTER 5- Friend. 

Izzy's POV 

The next day I woke up and groaned, biting my lip to keep from screaming at the pain in my side. 

"Izzy? You okay?" I looked up to see Marissa in the doorway. 

"Yep... I'm good." 

She sighed, "Okay you don't have to go to school today, but you know I really don't like lying to Demi." 

I rolled my eyes, "Yeah Yeah, I know it's the 'bestfriend code." 

She cracked a smile, "You know why you didn't grow up calling me Aunt Marissa?" 

I cocked an eyebrow, something i'd inherited from my mom. 

"Because you didn't want to feel old?" 

Marissa snorted, "No. It's because I wanted you to think of my as your friend, not just your mom's bestfriend. I love you okay?" 

I smiled, "I love you too Marissa." 

She's lying. Everyone hates you.. Even mommy and Daddy hate their daughter. 

Do you realize how terrible you have to be to achieve that? 

You're worthless. 

My smiled was a struggle to uphold. 

"Alright, I'm gonna go run some errands, need anything special?" 

A new brain. 

"Nope."

Once Marissa left I got up and walked like a zombie into the bathroom, I went into the medicine cabinet and took the blade that was taped to the bottom of the lowest shelf. In some kind of trance, I dragged it across my skin, sighing with relief as the numbing sensation took over and the chanting demons grew softer. Good Girl. They whispered, Mom would be proud.

Two hours later, Marissa walked through the door and I was in my bed with my arms wrapped up safely underneath a sweatshirt. 

"Hey babe." 

I lifted me head and smiled weakly, "Hey Mar." 

She brought over a brown paper bag, "I brought you some soup, you must be starving." 

I struggled to sit up as the thought of food repulsed me. 

"Okay, thanks." 

Marissa sat on the edge of my bed as I forced the soup down, the only way I could was by reminding myself how easy soup is to purge.
