Third Person POV

Mek served breakfast in place of Poom the following morning.

He carefully observed if the master was in a good mood.

He debated within himself when was the right time to give the master the partial installment that Poom had requested him to give to the master as partial payment for the hospital bills that the master had paid for Poom.

Mek surreptitiously placed his hand over his pocket to feel the folded paper bills that Poom had given him earlier to give to the master.

"More coffee, sir?" Mek asked the master when he noticed that the coffee cup was empty.

"No, thanks," Up replied as he stood from the table.

Joss had already excused himself earlier to get the master's car ready at the entrance of the house.

"Sir..." Mek addressed his master tentatively.

Up paused and waited for Mek to speak further.

Up watched as Mek struggled to pull out the wad of paper bills from his pocket.

Then Mek approached him with his hand outstretched holding the paper bills toward him.

"Sir, Poom asked me to give these to you as partial payment for the hospital bills that you..."

Mek was unable to finish his sentence. With one swift flick of the master's hand the bills went flying all over the breakfast room.

"Tell him not to insult me again in this way," the master said before walking away with a cold and hostile expression on his face.

"Poom, what have you done, what have you done..." Mek muttered under his breath as he retrieved the fallen paper bills from the floor.

After Mek had cleared the breakfast table and pushed the breakfast trolley back to the kitchen, Mek went straight to Poom's room.

"You didn't give the money to the master?" Poom asked Mek in a disappointed tone of voice.

"I did... I tried..." Mek stammered. "But he sent the money flying all over the breakfast room."

"What???" Poom couldn't believe what Mek had just told him.

"And he said to tell you never to insult him again in that way," Mek continued.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Poom asked, sounding so confused.

"I have no idea, Poom," Mek replied. "The master never tries to explain himself. He always keeps us guessing what's on his mind."

Poom let out a heavy sigh.

"I probably should have stayed with Boat," he said. "I probably would have been able to recuperate faster under Boat's care. And Boat would probably have helped me to write out a check in the amount that the master paid the hospital, then the master would not have been able to throw it at my face because of our distance."

"Would've, could've, should've..." Mek shrugged his shoulders. "The thing is you are here now and you just have to do as the master says. Put the money back in your wallet and just do as he says in the meantime."

Poom had a grim expression on his face as he accepted the paper bills from Mek and placed them in his wallet. He hated being indebted to anyone, especially to his master. He held his master in high esteem. In fact, it was more than just admiration that he felt for the master... wait, no... he wasn't in love with the master, was he??? Nooooo... no way... he was straight... it wasn't too long ago when he had told his master that he was straight.

Poom shook his head vigorously. He was starting to get confused... very, very confused... or... in denial???
