Chapter 13

Poom's POV
I tried to fight my low spirits and the boredom of being cooped up in my room by playing games on my phone and calling my old friends back home in the small town where I lived. On special occasions and holidays, the master would allow me to go home and join the town festivities.
I called my childhood friend Boat.
A/N: The image above does not belong to me. It belongs to the person who uploaded it on the internet.
For those who might not know him. his name is Boat Tara Tipa, the Thai actor who portrayed the role of the bodyguard in "Golden Blood" a BL drama starring Gun Napat Narong as his love interest.
"You traitor, you," was how Boat greeted me when he took my call.
"What are you talking about?" I complained.
"You have forgotten me and the rest of us here just because you are now working in the big city,"he said in a reproachful tone.
"I'm so sorry," I said. "I'm always swamped with work because I have to be available to my boss 24/7."
"So how were you able to find time to call me just now?" Boat asked, his tone still sounding unforgiving.
"Actually I have been forced to rest by my boss because I caught a respiratory virus but mind you it wasn't caused by the covid virus. It was just a twenty four hour bug but he wants me to rest until the end of the week," I explained.
"Since you're still free can I come and see you?" asked Boat.
"Are you sure?" I asked. "It's gonna take you three hours to get here."
I glanced at my watch.
"By the time you get here it would be close to five in the afternoon," I added.
"Not a problem for me." Boat assured me. "We could hang out for two hours maybe then I can catch the train back at seven or eight in the evening. The trains run until eleven in the evening, in case you have forgotten."
"If you have no problem with the long trip, I would be really happy to see you," I said in a grateful tone.
"Okay, done deal." Boat said before cutting the call.
I informed Mek that I was expecting my childhood friend Boat. I told Mek that if the gate buzzed and someone said that his name was Boat, to please let him in and guide him to my room.
"Sure thing," Mek said.
Suddenly it occurred to me that I should ask the master's permission to let a visitor of mine enter the house.
I tapped on Up's number and when he took my call I asked him if it was okay for a friend of mine to come and visit me.
Up said he didn't see any problem with that.
"Thank you, sir," I said, grateful that the boss did not have any objections to letting a visitor in without his presence in the house.
THIRD PERSON POV
When Mek heard the buzz at the gate at around five thirty in the afternoon, he went to open the agate.
When he reached the driveway, he noticed that the main gate had opened and Joss was bringing the car with the master in it into the driveway.
Mek approached the stranger who was standing at the gate.
"Hi, I am Boat, Poom's friend," the stranger introduced himself to Mek.
"Come in, he's expecting you," Mek said.
Joss stepped out of the car and went over to the passenger side to open the door for Up. He retrieved Up's briefcase after Up stepped out of the car.
Joss pushed the car door shut and started walking into the house with Up's briefcase in his hand.
Up did not follow Joss. He waited for Mek and the stranger to approach him.
"Sir, this is Poom's friend who has come to visit him." Mek informed Up.
"Yes, I know about it," Up said. "Poom called me earlier this afternoon."
Boat bowed to Up before saying, "Good afternoon, sir, my name is Boat, I am Poom's childhood friend. I came all the way from our home town to see him because he told me that he was recovering from a respiratory infection."
"Come inside," Up said. "You can stay and have dinner before you head back to your home town."
"Thank you, sir," Boat bowed again.
Up allowed Mek and Boat to walk inside the house ahead of him.
Up studied Boat from behind. In Up's opinion Boat had a better physique than Joss but probably not because of a daily regimen at the gym but maybe because of heavy labor in the fields. And Boat didn't seem to mind flaunting the muscles that strained against the fabric of his shirt and the back side that stretched his jeans and moved in graceful rhythm as he walked.
