Poom's POV
When I woke up this morning I felt a lot better and stronger. I had a feeling that what I had was just a twenty four hour bug.
I got out of bed, much earlier than everyone else and washed off the sweat from my body under the warm shower.
Mek shooed me out of the kitchen when he saw me walking in.
"You have to isolate yourself until the virus in you dies down," he scolded me, pushing me out of the kitchen area.
"But I'm all better now," I protested, pushing back. "It was just a twenty four bug."
"I don't want to take any chances," Mek insisted, continuing to push me out of the kitchen. "Wait for me in your room. I will bring you a nutrient packed breakfast."
I gloomily went back inside my room, not knowing what to do with my day.
In a few minutes, Mek entered my room without knocking
In fairness to him, the food he brought in smelled good. The desire for food meant that I had recovered.
"Thank you, Mek," I said sincerely as he placed the platter of vanilla pancakes drizzled with maple syrup on my bedside table. On another plate were several diagonally cut apple and garlic flavored turkey sausages and a small pile of scrambled eggs.
"I'll be back," he said and shortly after he returned with a cup of hot ginger tea with lemon and honey.
"I really appreciate all what you're doing for me," I said to Mek.
"No worries," he said, "I will expect you to do the same for me if I got sick but I hope I don't."
"You can bet on that," I said firmly.
By lunch hour I was really feeling bored just lying on my bed.
I decided to call the boss.
"Are you okay?" he sasked upon taking my call, without giving me a chance to say a greeting.
"I am better," I said. "If you want I can pick you up after your office hours this afternoon."
"No, you don't sound well enough yet," he declined firmly. "Continue to rest until weekend. By then I'm sure you will have fully recovered."
He sounded very firm about his decision so I did not give him any resistance.
I gathered the lunch dishes that Mek generously brought into the room for me and brought them out of my room to bring to the kitchen sink.
I was walking back to my room when I heard some noise in the living room.
I walked down the hallway to see what wasgoing on in the living room.
Someone was on his way out the front door carrying a pale gray duffel bag.
"Hey!" I called out.
The stranger stopped and turned around.
He was a very good looking stranger with the physique of a body builder.
"Hi," he said with a friendly smile. "I'm Joss. I'm the new all around personal assistant of Up."
Whoa, he was on first name basis with the master, and... but wait... hold up...
"You mean the temporary personal assistant of Mr. Iam-samang," I said, putting as much emphasis as I could on the word 'temporary'.
"You;re right," he concurred with me. "You must be one of Up's house staff."
"I am his regular and permanent all around personal assistant," I said, moving forward with my hand outstretced for a handshake.
He stepped back.
"Whoa, sorry, I heard you're down with some virus, so I'm afraid I can't shake hands with you," he said.
That rejection of a handshake stung me hard for some reason and I knew I wasn't going to forget this for a long time.
"What's inside that duffel bag?" I asked even though I wasn't entertaining any thought that he was taking anything from Up's personal belongings.
"I really don't have to tell you but I will tell you anyway," he said, his face expressionless. "These are gym clothes."
"Oh, you'll be hitting the gym during work hours?" I tried not to make my voice sound accusatory.
"With Up's blessing," he said, smiling smugly before showing himself out the door.
The sonofabitch had somehow managed to have the master wrapped around his little finger. But then again, remembering how good looking he was and how self confident he looked, and with the body of a gym trainer, what did I expect.
I'm pretty sure that by now our boss was head over heels in love with the bloody bastard.
Wait, surely I wasn't getting jealous? No way, no freaking way, I scolded myself.
