Chapter 8: I want you gone!
❀~~~~❀~~~~❀~~~~❀
Jungkook debated with himself whether he should go to Jimin's room or not, but eventually found himself making his way. When he knocked on the door, a very angry Park Jimin opened it, glaring at him.
"Can't say I'm glad to see you, but I'm glad you overcame your childish act and got here," he growled at him. He held the door open so the younger could enter. He scanned the room to look for his former boyfriend, but he didn't see him.
"Where is he?" he asked.
"In the bathroom. Locked himself in when I called you. Said he couldn't even hear your voice through the phone," Jimin said as he sat down on his bed. "Go and talk to him then!"
Jungkook did as told and hurried towards the door and knocked softly on it. "Hyung?" he called out. "It's me."
He didn't get an answer.
"Taehyung hyung, open please." He knocked again.
"Guess we switched places now," he heard the other said. "Just go away. I did."
"I'm not going anywhere," he reassured him, though he didn't even know if that made him feel better.
"Go, Jungkook."
"No," he protested, "now open up before I break it open."
He heard the door unlock and so he opened it. Taehyung was sitting on in the bathtub with his head between his legs; he refused to look up. Jungkook had no idea Taehyung was going to react this way from their chat earlier.
"I'm sorry," he said.
Taehyung still didn't look up.
"Hey," he said as he reached for him and patted him gently on his head and played with his hair, as he knew he loved that. "Hyung, I'm sorry."
The elder rose up his head slowly. "And what are you sorry for?" he asked.
"For saying those things. For saying it in a harsh way," he said. He was hesitating for saying what he should've. "And," he added, "I want you to know that I love you. I always have - well, not always, but you know what I mean - and I always will."
"Then why can't we stay together?" Taehyung asked. He stared into the student's eyes so intently Jungkook almost lost his breath.
"Because," he hesitated, "because I can't. I don't want to make it awkward, and since we share our friends, I don't mind being your friend either," he tried his best to explain.
Another tear fell down the elder's cheek. "Don't you see, Jungkook? I don't want us to be friends."
Jungkook sighed. "We both know we can't cut off each other from our lives completely," he said.
More tears came rushing out, and Taehyung let out a loud cry, which he didn't mean to. "Get out," he growled.
"Hyung, listen, I - "
"Get out! I want you gone!"
The younger jumped slightly, but he didn't move a muscle. He knew Taehyung didn't want him to go. He knew.
So he stayed; he got into the bathtub was well and let the other cry on his chest.
He cried for a long time. He just kept on going.
And Jungkook kept on comforting him. This was maybe what he needed yesterday, but he chose to stay isolated. Taehyung chose to leave him alone. Maybe Jungkook was right - maybe he loved the elder more than he loved him. Wouldn't he have fought harder to get him back? Instead he was crying? Giving up.
"Hyung, can I ask why you're crying?"
"What the fuck do you think?" he snapped back, but he still had his face pressed against his chest.
"I don't know, that's why I asked," he replied.
This made Taehyung move so he could look at him. "Are you serious?" he asked, only to be followed with a nod from the younger. "You're not that stupid Jungkook. Are you this dense?"
"Why don't you answer instead of insulting me?" he said.
Taehyung was taken aback. "Because of you, Jungkookie."
But Jungkook still held his straight face up. "And what did I do? I told you the truth," he said.
"That's what hurts, you dufus. The man I love rejects me. It hurts."
"And yet, you still let me comfort you."
"Because you don't leave," he defended himself.
"Because you don't want me to."
Taehyung winced. "I love staying in your arms. Of course I don't want you to leave. I don't ever want you to leave," he mumbled.
"But you did," Jungkook suddenly said, "you left."
"Is this because I left? Because I wanted to study abroad and I couldn't take you with me? 'Cause I tried, Jungkookie, I tried. But the dean couldn't just transfer you like that. You'd have to apply at least a year head. I applied when I first started my Freshman year here. There was just no time. I'm sorry I left and that I was bad at keeping in contact. I'm still glad I studied abroad. I don't regret that, but I do regret for not fighting for you more."
Jungkook bit his lower lip. He got up on his feet and exited the bathtub. He had his back facing the elder so he wouldn't see the agony on his face. "I'm sorry too, hyung," he whispered before leaving the room. He picked up his speed the further away he got.
Finally as he reached his room, his roommate was awake, reading that same book he had only seen in his hands.
"What's up?" he said, not even sparing a glance at the elder, but Jungkook wasn't bothered. He didn't care anyway so he just jumped in his bed, facing the wall whilst blasting music through his earplugs and ignored everything around him.
Jungkook must've dozed off as his roommate had shaken him awake.
"What?" he snapped as he removed his earplugs.
"You got a visitor," he muttered and went back to his bed after waking him up.
Jungkook groaned, but he got up when he saw the blond small male by the door.
"Jimin hyung," he greeted as he approached the door.
"Hey," he said, his voice calmer than before, and so was his face, "sorry about earlier," he apologised, "I was freaking out when Taehyung came crying to me."
"How is he?" the younger asked.
"Well, he stopped crying."
"Still in the bathtub?"
"Hoseok hyung picked him up a few minutes ago."
This made Jungkook's face twitch. "He did?"
"Yeah, brought him to his apartment. You heard, right?"
Jungkook nodded. "About Taehyung living with him? Yeah."
Jimin made a grimace. "How do you feel about that?"
"What, are you my psychologist now?" he joked, trying to avoid the question.
The elder sighed. "Are you bothered about it?"
"Bothered?" Jungkook repeated, his temper rising. "Of course I'm bothered about it! And he doesn't even realise he's hurting two people by doing this!"
Jimin stared at him. "Who's he hurting? other than you, as I can tell."
"Hoseok hyung," he said, quietly.
"Hoseok hyung?" Jimin asked surprised. "You do realise it was his idea? He suggested it to Taehyung after he caught him lying to him about having a roommate."
"You know that Hoseok still loves Taehyung, right? He may not admit it, but I can tell," he said confidently.
Jimin made another grimace. "So, you're worried that Hoseok will make a move again against Taehyung? You don't think he values his friendships first? Both with all of us and with Taehyung?"
Jungkook slowly nodded, though that seemed to had angered he elder.
"You do realise you're not in position to interfere with Taehyung's love life anymore? You broke up. You refused to go back to him. Do you think he'll never get over you and will wait for you to change your mind?"
He stopped for a moment as his glare loosened up.
"I'll tell you this, Jeon Jungkook: by the time want him back, he's already moved on and possibly interested in someone else. Decide whether you want to let him go on or not, but don't hurt my best friend. He's been hurting enough already because of you."
The elder waited for a moment to see if he other replied, but he was completely speechless, so he decided to leave him alone.
"Wow," said the deep voice in the back of the room, "if I knew you were such an asshole, I would've let him in when you locked yourself in the bathroom."
Jungkook sighed as he dropped down on his bed again. "Maybe you should've," he muttered, almost inaudibly.
Jungkook felt like shit. He shouldn't let Taehyung suffer like this - let himself suffer like this. They both loved each other. And if Jungkook believed he loved the elder more than he did, he should just let him prove him wrong.
They belonged to each other.
Jungkook had tried to call Taehyung, but he didn't pick up the phone. Then he tried to call Hoseok, but he didn't answer as well.
But that didn't stop the younger. He knew where they were anyway. So, he made his way over towards their apartment.
Before knocking, he subtly tried to look if the lights were on or not, which they were.
Just as he was about to knock, he spotted the two males. They were hugging. Taehyung was having his back facing Jungkook, but he could tell he was crying with his shaking shoulders.
Normally, Jungkook wouldn't have thought much about it, since they're friends and friends comfort each other. But the most unbelievable happened. They kissed.
