Cassie's POV

I lay in bed, eyes wide open staring at the smooth ceiling. Today is a day all 9th graders dread the most. It's my first day of high school. In the past, school was rough enough as it was but now.... How will I survive this death like work! So much homework, getting good grades is nearly impossible, and worst of all there are bullies in every corner. Oh yeah, and of course, as always, I'm their prime suspect. How will I ever make any friends with so many naggers, liars, and tough jocks around?

"Cassie, come down for breakfast!" My mother screams.

"Alright I'm coming!" I yell back

My feet delicately slide down onto the cold creaky wooden floors sending a chill up my spine. I increase my steps and find my self down the narrow hall leading to the kitchen. The smell of sticky, sweet maple syrup, and cinnamon fill the air as I wonder around the room. I carefully pull out a chair and sit down to find a plate with Chocolate Pancakes drenched in maple oak syrup, and smooth salted butter.

"Are you excited for school?" Mother asks

"Um... Yeah I guess..." I say trying to hide the emotions bottled up inside.

"Is everything ok Cassie?" She questions my expressions.

"Yeah.... Everything is fine... I got to go get dressed." I reply dropping my fork onto my plate and running back up the hall.

Thoughts fill my mind of how I can avoid a bad first day experience. Maybe I should dress nicer! I dig threw all my clothes and costumes when I finally fine a white t-shirt with I small pocket on the top right, with dark jeans. I think that will do. Quickly before my mom calls me to get into the car, I brush my thick brown hair and put it on my shoulder. My feet scamper across the house as I hurry to get to the car. I hope I'll make it in time.
