twenty six
Six months later.
Haya snuggles more into her husband's arms as he shifted in his sleep. They both weren't great fans of cuddles but now things have changed, for good. She moaned in her sleep as Abrar bites her earlobes, whilst whispering, "Hayat... someone's at the door."
Long gone was her sleep as she got up frantically and looked at her handsome husband who grabbed her face for a quick kiss. He can never get enough of her, never. Shoving him away she grabbed the duvet upon her; covering herself quickly as the bang on their door increased. Abrar frowned at the sudden interruption. He hates it when someone gets in between their alone time.
"I'll see who it is, get changed." he pecked her lips again and got down to open the door but the tug at his wrist stopped him, turning around he found his adorable wife glaring at him.
"What?" he asked innocently knowing very well what she was going to say.
"Put your shirt on, I don't want that Maheen to drool over you if you go like this and honestly, I cannot afford to get my mood spoiled so early in the morning." Haya threw his shirt at his face which he caught with a laugh, she felt herself getting lost in his contagious laugh but the bang on their door disturbed them again.
Rolling her eyes, Haya walked into the dressing room, not before making sure that Abrar was properly dressed.
"I hate your cousin," she mumbled with irritation before banging the door shut, if anything Abrar found this whole scenario funny. He loved watching his wife get all possessive over him. At the same time, he made sure not to lead Maheen on. With a sigh, he went to open the door and as expected, his cousin was standing at his doorstep. Seeing him, Maheen plastered a wide smile on her face and forwarded a cup of tea to him. He stared at her in confusion.
"Your favourite tea. I thought you'd like it." Not wanting to be not rude, he took the cup from her and observed that she still hasn't disappeared.
"I'll see you downstairs. I'm kind of busy now." Maheen's face fell at that. She nodded her head with a half-smile and as soon as she turned her head, Abrar locks the door.
Apparently, the summer holidays have begun for both Meruza and Maheen, they go to the same college which Haya came to know just a few days ago. And Maheen thought it'd be fun to come and stay over at her Phopho's house.
But definitely, it wasn't very fun for Haya to have that annoying girl over for more than five days. She was getting on Haya's nerves. Maheen's always behind Abrar, more like obsessed with him and tries hard to get his attention; who paid zero attention to anything, much to Maheen's dismay.
After taking a quick shower, Haya comes out to find Abrar already sipping his tea which makes her frown.
"Who got you this?" placing her hands around her hips she asked him, he turned his head to her with a smile and said, "Mahi... she added ginger in it. I might have mentioned to her that it's my favourite type of tea." his voice was filled with playfulness.
"Give that to me..." the first thing she did was to snatch the cup from his hands.
Abrar was so expecting this, "what is wrong with that?" he asked feigning innocence.
"You didn't brush your teeth. And your mouth is full of germs. So, brush first." Haya told him sternly, he shrugged with a knowing smile and got up to go to the bathroom.
"Ouch. I'm sorry. It was very hot." Haya slipped the glass off her hands and pretended to be innocent as she bent to pick the glasses. Abrar stared at her with wide eyes. Did she just do that?
"Go and brush your teeth. I'll make your favourite tea and come back in a few minutes." Haya fake smiled at him and marched out of the room, scoffing angrily. Abrar shook his head in disbelief. She can be a handful sometimes. But this was too much, maybe? A laugh left his mouth as she replayed the scene again.

"Why are you preparing tea again?" Maheen asked the first thing as she observed Haya in the kitchen, who smiled at her appearance.
"Sorry, Mahi. The tea which you made fell off my hands, by mistake." stressing on the mistake part she continued, "next time... Please don't bother yourself. I know how to take care of my husband."
Maheen's face paled as she heard Haya. She clenched her fists in fury not wanting to break anything and make a scene.
"Also, make sure not to knock at our door so early in the morning. We might be busy doing stuff for all you know." Haya smirked as she poured the tea through the filter and walked past a fuming Maheen, who banged her hands on the kitchen island.
Suddenly a dangerous idea popped into her mind. She has saved this for when things get worse and now is that time; she decided to use her amazing weapon. She then opened her Instagram and searched for the images which she has saved the other night, smirking victoriously she walked towards Bano's bedroom.

Abrar, like expected has won the elections and he's now the president of their village. His family was very proud. He enjoyed what he did. It has always been his dream to be a ruler one day. And today he was.
Imran Sheikh was furious, he had no one but his stupid son to blame for his loss. If only he didn't let that witch Haya leave, that post must be his today. But the reality was different and Abrar has won these elections, fair and square.
It was sometime in the evening when Haya was massaging bi jaan's foot, Bano marched into their room. She also had few people following her, which included Sarah, Meruza and a smirking Maheen.
"Bano?" bi jaan questioned her daughter in law, wondering why did she come in the way she came and what was the other people doing here. She was genuinely confused.
"Look at this, bi jaan. See what your precious daughter in law is really up to." Bano handed her a few photos as she shot Haya a venom-filled glare.
Staring at her in confusion, bi jaan checked what those pictures were and her eyes widened in disbelief as she saw what it was, "Haya... who is this?" bi jaan asked her angrily.
Haya has never seen bi jaan talk with her so harshly before and it kind of hurt her. She looked at the photos in confusion but seeing them, her face paled.
"Bi jaan. I can explain. They were taken before my marriage. I swear me and Farhan are just friends." Haya couldn't believe her eyes; from where did they get these pictures in the first place was her question. But looking at the way they were all staring at her, with accusing eyes made her realize how messed up the situation was.
They were a few of the pictures in which she and Farhan are pretty close.
How was she going to explain them to these (village) ladies? They were kind and loving but their thoughts are still not very forwarded. And that's such a big problem. Where is Abrar now? Will he help her out?
"Friends? You can be this close to a friend?" Bano shouted at her in a disgust filled voice making Haya flinch, she got up from the bed and stared at everyone apologetically. But they all looked quiet, angry. Disappointed too.
"I did not expect this from you," Sarah muttered and Haya's eyes teared up at those words.
"Those are taken before marriage," Haya mumbled again.
"So? Who gave you the right to be this close to a guy before marriage? It's haram." Bano screamed at her again. Maheen smiled evilly as she watched Haya in tears.
"I expected something like this when that bloody Imran Sheik's son helped you escape from that kidnap." Bano accused her again, this time Haya's eyes widened in fury.
"What are you trying to say?" she asked with a cracking voice.
"This picture speaks loud and clear. This girl is another shameless one from the city who has no moral whatsoever. She's a mistake bi jaan. You've to get rid of her before she spoils our family's name." Bano threw daggers at Haya as she eyed bi jaan, who sat there silently for the whole time.
"What even?" Haya couldn't believe her ears. Is she even in her senses?
Maheen was dancing on cloud nine as she heard her aunt's words. Sarah and bi jaan exchanged worried glances, was this getting too much now? They both wondered.
Overwhelmed by all of the happenings, Haya felt dizzy and suddenly everything was whirling. She collapsed on her spot, alarming everyone. Meruza was the first one, to come to her help. She felt bad for her sister-in-law. Her mother was going too much for just the sake of stupid revenge.

The doctor was called shortly and she checked upon Haya, who was still unconscious.
"She's faking it," Bano mumbled ignorantly and looked away as she saw bi jaan glare at her.
"She's not. Well, there's nothing to worry about actually." The doctor said with a smile on her face as she eyed the confused family.
Just then Haya slowly opened her eyes and frowned at the stranger, who sat so close to her.
"Who are you?" was the first thing she asked.
"Don't worry, Mrs Shah. I'm doctor Rahila. I've been called to check up on you and I'm glad that you're awake. I'll share the good news with you first." the doctor beamed at her making the whole family confused.
"Good news?"
"Yes. Good news. You're pregnant." the world seemed to pause for Haya as she heard those two words. She's what? Her hands automatically go to hold her belly. There's a life growing in there? It feels so unreal yet delightful. Tears of happiness brimmed her eyes as the doctor nodded at her again.
Wow. She's pregnant. That still feels so damn unbelievable. Her joy didn't last long as she heard Bano talk again.
"She is pregnant?" Bano asked as everyone around her broke into smiles and happiness, long-forgotten was those pictures. Maheen was mute the whole time.
"We should probably get the DNA checked first." Bano's voice was filled with disgust and accusation.
"Are you serious?" Bi jaan was getting tired of this woman. Her anger was getting worthless at this point.
"Have you seen those pictures bi jaan? We have to be sure if the child is our Abrar's or not. We can't be so sure with girls like her," Bano mumbled so casually.
Everyone froze at her accusation. Was she high on something?
"BANO?" Sarah and Bi jaan gaped at her.
"What? It makes sense you see. That's why Imran's son must have let her go so easily that day."
"Are you in your freaking senses?" Haya yelled at the top of her voice, feeling so sick and angry.
"UNBELIEVABLE!" unable to stand there anymore, Haya marches out of the room and walked upstairs. The doctor passed confused glances as bi jaan and Sarah began to scold Bano, who didn't feel much affected anyway.
"Haya... Stop... you should be careful now." Meruza's concerned voice followed her behind as she ran into her room and shuts the door.
"Haya... Open the door." Meruza banged at her door, which opened in a moment making her sigh, but as soon as she eyed Haya's purse and phone, she frowned at her.
"Where are you going?" she asked angrily.
"Somewhere out of here. Where I can raise my baby in a good environment. Not with people like your mother." Haya muttered coldly as she walked past her sister-in-law and has vanished from there not paying any attention to any of the family's pleas. Bano still stood on her point which disgusted her if anything.
Meruza shook her head in frustration. Why the hell was Abrar not picking his phone today only?
