epilogue

The chucking of vaseline bottle and combs made Abrar groan inwardly as he eyed his furious wife through the mirror, who huffed cutely and turned to leave the messy dressing table as it is, much to his annoyance.

She still chooses this way to annoy him, even after all these years. And it hits him every single time. Which only encourages her to continue messing things up whenever they fight.

"Hayat..." The way he calls her name, full of love and longing even after five years of marriage makes her heart swell in love every single time with that incredibly stupid husband of hers. She turned around to face him and eyed him angrily but her heart melted almost instantly as she looked into his expressive charcoal eyes.

No, don't go soft on him. Her heart screamed at her and she masked her emotions. But that over smart husband of hers understood her state and passed her a smug smile.

"Don't talk with me." Punching his chest with that tiny little fists of hers, she tried to walk past him but he caught hold of her hand and held her tightly in his embrace. After protesting in vain, she gave up and hugged him back.

"I'm sorry." Holding her close to him, he kissed her forehead longingly and murmured those words which she has been wanting to hear for a while.

"I'm not talking with you," Haya replied against his chest, making him smile.

"I said I'm sorry, Hayat..." she lifted her head up and stared at him with a pout and he leaned in to peck them, turning her cheeks crimson red even after all these years of marriage.

"How's my little one doing? Did your morning sickness stop finally?" She just woke up an hour ago and he wanted to know if her health was fine or not.

"I swear Abrar. This guy is just like you. He loves troubling his mother. I feel so sick and tired these days." He frowned slightly at that, "should we go to the doctor?" She shook her head in negative, "I think we can manage, Sarah auntie has suggested me some home remedy if the sickness got worse"

"I can't wait to hold him though." Haya was three months pregnant with their second child. It was an unplanned one. But they both were so ecstatic when they came to know about the news, unlucky for Abrar his wife has turned super dramatic and moody ever since.

Just when he thought that she has forgotten the reason for her mood off, her eyes fell on that culprit again and she sulked back at him.

"I spent days and nights sewing that kurta for you. How dare you be careless and get it stained? Not any stain but a tomato ketchup stain? Do you not care about my feelings anymore?" Abrar sighed, talk about drama. But he reminded himself that she is carrying his baby and this was just the hormones' doing. He needs to be patient with her and he was.

"I'm sorry, my begam sahiba. It was a mistake. I'll arrange for the best washerman and get it removed." Haya finally smiled at those words, "you better do it. I took so much efforts in making that kurta for you. Custom made."

Abrar smiled back at his adorable wife, "I love you, Hayat..." It was during their first year anniversary that Hayat has surprised him with that kurta. It was her dream to design something for the love of her life it seems and she took that special day to gift him that. He felt so emotional and kissed her deeply as a response. She made numerous other kurtas for him but that one was very dear to him.

It was his favourite outfit to wear and he'd worn it numerous times before and every single time Haya wouldn't stop gushing about how handsome and hot he looked in that kurta.

But this morning it became the opposite when a particular someone wanted to eat french fries and Abrar couldn't say no. He sighed whilst thinking about how drastically things have changed in his life. He loved this change so much though.

"I love you too, chote nawab." Grinning cheekily she kissed his lips but pulled back when a familiar noise interrupted their moment.

"Ammi." Came that sweet little voice, who was responsible for their silly fight. Their daughter Hidaya was a mini replica of Haya with the same captivating hazel brown eyes and silky brown hair but her lips and nose resembled her father. She was the most pampered and loved child of the Shah haveli.

Hidaya was their biggest blessing and they both love her beyond words can describe. But sadly for Haya, she was growing up too soon.

Haya pulled away from her husband's hold and bent down to her daughter's level, "awe. Look at you. Who fed you fries so early in the morning?" She looked at her husband, who averted his gaze as though he wasn't listening to them, "so you are the one who stained baba's kurta, hmm?"

Hidaya smiled sheepishly and pouted at her, "sorry, Ammi. Baba and I were just having some french fries, and the ketchup got all over his kurta because he couldn't open the bottle."

"You traitor." Picking her in his arms, Abrar began to tickle their daughter, "Baba.No." She laughed loudly clearly enjoying his tickles, "who opened the ketchup bottle?" He asked and she broke into fits of giggles before admitting it was her who opened it, "will you lie again?" He asked whilst continuing to tickle her.

"No."

"Good girls don't lie, Abrar, is our Hidaya bad girl now?" Haya made a neutral face and asked her daughter, who stopped smiling at once and gazed at her mother guiltily, "no, Ammi. Hidaya is a good girl." Abrar stopped his tickles realizing it was lesson time for Hidaya and he needs to be serious at least for a moment.

"Good girls don't lie though."

"Sorry Ammi, I won't lie again. I promise." Hidaya mumbled guiltily and Haya smiled softly as she leaned in to kiss her daughter's cheeks, "good. You should never lie, okay? No matter what."

Abrar loves their daughter to death and he can never be strict with her. Haya had to take up that strict parent role sometimes, otherwise they feared that she might turn out into a brat. But their daughter was too obedient and they had faith and trust that she'd never be someone who they don't want her to be.

Hidaya nodded her head adorably making both of her parents smile at her, "let's get you bathed, maybe your Sanam khala can help us?" Abrar dropped her down and Hidaya nodded excitedly at the mention of her Khalla, she was so cool and she loves spending time with her.

"I'm too tired to bath her, Abrar. I'll take Sanam's help okay?" He nodded his head, before covering her head with her dupatta and placed a small kiss on her cheeks, she just shook her head in response.

"Khala..." Hidaya already ran away from their room making them both look at her with amusement, "she loves my sister a lot." Haya smiled softly as she walked out of the room, "be careful, Hayat." Abrar yelled from inside their room referring to the staircase and she just smiled more in response.

When Haya entered Sanam's room, Hidaya was already being bathed by her. She smiled at the scene before taking a seat on the bed, "don't get your khala all wet, jaani." She yelled from outside and heard an okayjji ammi as a reply.

Fifteen minutes later Hidaya was bathed and dressed freshly and she ran out to go and play with her dadi jaan. That girl has the whole Shah family wrapped around her tiny little finger and she loved spending time with all of them.

"I love it when she calls you ammi, it's so cute, Masha Allah." Sanam smiled hiding the sadness beneath her eyes, "I think the only good thing Aahil ever did was to force you into marrying Abrar Bhai. I'm so happy for you, Haya."

Haya's eyes teared up emotionally as he gestured her sister to sit beside her, "Aahil was a mistake, I know. But you have a whole life ahead of you. Insha Allah, its never too late for a new start. How long are you going to stay like this? So alone..."

Sanam got divorced two years ago and Haya insisted that she lived with them as she had no one to look after her in the city and how unsafe it was to live alone. (They kicked the Khan family out of their parents' house and Farhan takes care of it now.)

Abrar told that it was not an issue and that Sanam was more than welcome to live with them. She had no choice but to agree. It was a good change for her though. The Shah family were very welcoming and friendly. And she also worked as a nursery school teacher in that village, so it gave her some time for a much-needed distraction.

"Yeah, about that..." Sanam trailed off shyly whilst fidgeting with her shawl, Haya literally screamed in happiness, "Ya Allah, who is he? When did you meet him and why was I not informed before?"

Sanam has always dodged the marriage topic because of her past but today her reaction was something entirely unexpected and Haya was thrilled.

"Haya, calm down. He is my student's father. A really good guy. I think there was some spark whenever we talked. He is a widower and wants someone to look after him and his child, he told me that he may send a proposal in a few days." Sanam replied nervously. She was confused about this whole marriage thing but then she was tired of feeling alone and maybe this new start can help her move on. She can't live alone her whole life.

"Do you like him?" Haya looked at her sister sceptically, who nodded with a small blush, "well, I'll ask Abrar to do some background check and all. I'm not taking any risks with your life once again." Sanam nodded as tears rolled down her cheeks, "thank you so much, Haya."

"For what, silly?" She smacked her sister's arms whilst crying emotionally, "for never abandoning me despite me being an evil sister. I don't deserve your love." Sanam muttered dejectedly.

"Shut up, Sanam. You were just manipulated and naïve. But in the end, you realised your mistakes, its all fine now." The sister's hugged each other feeling way too overwhelmed. But as Sanam said, it was only due to Aahil's stupid threat that Haya has married Abrar and that was the best decision of her life so far.

***

Hidaya literally sleeps with everyone in the house. They all take turns in babysitting her at night that it was crazy. She was pampered beyond ends. That little girl was just so loveable and affectionate, you can't help but fall in love with her.

Haya smiled whilst thinking about her second child who is also going to be loved equally as she caressed her small bump, "ammi can't wait to hold you, jaani.." She whispered to herself whilst gulping her tablets in a go and made a face at the end.

"Yes, Saad. Thank you, I'll talk to you in the morning." Abrar spoke with his assistant as he closed their door shut and gave his wife a warm smile, "did you take the medicines?" He asked the first thing whilst removing his wristwatch and handing it to her, she took them with a groan and replied, "jii. I did. Just now."

"Good." Leaning down, he kissed her lips fondly and walked into the dressing room leaving a flustered Haya behind. She loves his random kisses.

"Hayat... who is taking care of Hida tonight?" Abrar asked later that night, as they settled on the bed, cuddled in each other's embrace ready to sleep anytime soon.

"With Bano Chachi... " There was a small pause.

"She was like; choti dadi jaan tells the best bedtime stories... shab ba khair ammi, and she even kissed my stomach good night. That girl is so energetic, Masha Allah." Haya ran her hand through his hair whilst smiling fondly.

It still feels unbelievable that she had gotten married to the man lying beside her and how their daughter was almost four years old. Time flies pretty fast indeed.

"I'm so glad that Bano Chachi has let go of her grudges and treats our daughter fairly." Haya nodded in understanding. They were almost going to move out of the Shah Haveli but Bi jaan stopped them somehow and after Hidaya's birth, Bano showed a different side of hers, which they all missed for nearly two decades.

Bano has changed for good though. Her toxic behaviour affected everyone but now it has reduced to zero. The Shah haveli was filled with only happiness, minus the little tiffs happening now and then. Otherwise, they were one big happy family.

"Meruza called us for dinner this weekend, cancel your plans if you have any." Haya looked up into his charcoal eyes and he nodded distractedly, "Iflan called me as well, I should ask Saad first. Don't be mad if I can't make it."

It came out as a surprise for the Shah family but Iflan and Meruza have always liked each other and they got married just a year ago after their own tests and trials.

"You always do this." She pouted sadly, but he grabbed her face gently and kissed that adorable pout, "I'm sorry Hayat, its just my job. I'll try my best, okay?" He whispered against her lips before kissing them again, she just hummed getting lost in his kisses.

The sudden knock at the door interrupted their moment and Abrar sat up alarmed, curious to know who it was at that time of the night, "Chachi? What happened to her?"

As soon as he opened the door, his daughter flung towards him and hugged his legs, crying her heart out, "baba... Bad dream." He lifted her in his arms almost instantly and read Ayutulkursi for her.

"She woke up from a nightmare and wanted to sleep with you both, I tried to calm her down. But she was adamant on coming here."

Haya got up from the bed and walked towards her distressed daughter worriedly and passed Bano a thankful smile, "thank you, Chachi. You can sleep now. I'll take care of her."

It took her sometime in forgiving Bano but she was not the one who holds grudges. Forgiving was for the best after all.

"Shab ba Khair, dado ki jaan, you're fine now. It was just a bad dream, we will talk in the morning." Bano kissed Hidaya goodnight, who stopped crying someho and left from there.

"It's okay, meri jaan. It was just a dream. You are safe now, Baba and Ammi are here for you." Hidaya hugged him tightly and didn't let go of his neck.

There was this one thing though, how much ever Hidaya loved spending time with the other family members, but as soon as something bothers her, the first person she runs to was her father. They had a very beautiful bond which makes Haya jealous sometimes. It was cute though.

Haya couldn't help but mutter an Alhamdulillah and Masha Allah for the adorable family HE has blessed her with as she watched Abrar gently pat Hidaya and rocked her to sleep.

And whenever Abrar takes care of their daughter, like she was something so precious and special. Haya falls in love with that man all over again. She can't believe he's the same guy who she has married. Her eyes were moist with happy tears just at the thought of how far they have come.

"She fell asleep." Abrar mumbled to himself as he laid her in the middle of the bed, carefully and stared at his wife, who was lost in her thoughts as she stared into the sky through the windows, "what are you thinking?"

He back hugged her, whilst placing his head on her right shoulders and arms wrapped around her stomach protectively, Haya's breath hitched at this but she smiled in response with a shake of her head, "nothing, I'm just counting my blessings Alhamdulillah, Hidaya and this guy are so lucky to have you as their father." She mumbled referring to their second baby.

Haya wrapped her hands around his and smiled contently as she leaned backwards and enjoyed his hug. This was her haven. She loved being in his arms.

"And we three are very lucky to have you in our lives as well, Alhamdulillah. But it's getting late now, you should have proper rest, Hayat." Coming back into his overprotective husband mode, he broke the hug, but she turned around and hugged him tightly once again, taking him by surprise, he hugged her back nevertheless.

"I love you so much, Abrar." She kissed him near his heart and held onto him tightly.

In response he planted a lingering kiss on her forehead as she stared up at him, her hazel brown eyes were filled with so much love and affection.

"Let us sleep, I'm very tired. Pick me up..." She asked childishly but he took her pretty seriously and lifted her in real, "Woah, I was just joking." She laughed but cupped her mouth, aware of her sleeping daughter in the same room.

"I took it seriously," grinning down at her, he carefully placed her back on the bed and kissed her lips one last time for that night.

Abrar Shah can never get enough of his wife and Haya absolutely loves that side of her husband.

"Sleep." He told firmly and joined his girls on the bed, "Hidaya looks just like you while sleeping." He added in a whisper as a small smile played on his lips.

"Go to sleep, Abrar," Haya mumbled sleepily whilst cuddling her daughter and Abrar placed his arms around them both, joining in the cuddle. They made sure not to suffocate Hidaya but she loved sleeping like that, in between her parents.

This was the home Haya has always longed for and Alhamdulillah, she was happy to be finally able to live the biggest dreams of her life.
