Chapter 3
Y/N's POV
"YouTubers? That's so cool!" I tried to play it off cool.
"Thanks." Ethan said.
Grayson and Emily, then headed off into their own conversation, leaving Ethan and me in an awkward silence.
"So, uh- Y/N, how's life?" He awkwardly smiled at me.
"Wow, amazing conversation starter." I laughed. "And it's good. What about you?" I giggled.
"Hey, I didn't see you coming up with anything." He laughed. "And my life is busy." He replied.
Our conversation grew from there. He told me about his life in New Jersey, his sister, and a bunch of other little details in his life.
"Enough about me, tell me about you." He said.
I gulped.
"Well, I'm from Kentucky, I'm left handed, I'm homeschooled, and I really like Chinese food." I laughed.
"Nice!" He chuckled.
"Hey guys! Sorry about the wait. Are you guys ready to order?" Our waitress finally arrived.
"I believe so." Grayson said.
"What can I get you all?" She asked.
"Y/N?" Ethan asked so I'd order first.
"Oh, um- I'll have a hamburger and a chocolate milkshake, please." I said.
"I'll have the same." Ethan said.
"Chicken patty sandwich and a chocolate milkshake, please." Emily said.
"Cheeseburger and a vanilla milkshake, please." Grayson said.
"Okay, it'll be right out!" The waitress exclaimed, taking our menus and leaving.
The table was silent for a few minutes before we all began talking to one another. It's so funny how we'd just met these two guys, and I'm so comfortable around them. I'm typically not comfortable around people I've only just met, but something about them was different.
There was something about Ethan's voice that called me. It was deep and smooth, and it comforted me. He spoke to me with such kindness and made me laugh so much.
His eyes too, the green that seemed to invade the brown was beautiful. The green ombré infected his eyes, making the glow beautifully. I got lost in his eyes so many times, I'm surprised I held a conversation.
Wait. Where are these thoughts coming from? Why are butterflies infesting my stomach? Why does heat rush to my cheeks when he just looks at me? I can't like him, I met him literally an hour ago. Maybe it's just because he's good looking. Maybe it's because I'm desperate. Maybe it's because someone other than my best friend is giving me attention.
I pushed all my thoughts aside, zoning back into the conversation they were all having. I smiled and nodded as if I knew what was going on, until I finally grasped the concept of what we were talking about.
"Here we are!" The waitress said, sliding a plate onto our table.
She passed out all of our plates, and we began shoveling our food into our mouths. We didn't even try to eat nicely in front of each other because we were all so hungry. Also, I can't control myself when fries around, so I shoveled those in quickly.
"Everything good?" The waitress came back a few minutes later.
I'd already finished my burger and I was almost done with my fries.
"Yes, thank you." I replied to her, everyone else nodded.
I finished my fries and drank my milkshake, while everyone was almost done eating as well.
"That was so good!" Grayson smiled.
They both did have beautiful smiles. They had their distinct differences, which made them easier to tell apart.
"I know right!" Emily replied.
"Here's your check. Pay at the front when you're ready. Thank you have a nice day!" The waitress said before we could carry on a conversation.
"We should probably head back, we still have a lot of unpacking to do." Ethan sighed.
"Yeah." Grayson replied.
We all stood up, walked to the front and split the bill 2 ways. The boys wanted to pay, but we insisted to pay half.
As we walked home, Grayson and Emily walked in front of us talking again, but this time Ethan and I didn't have an awkward silence, we talked the entire walk.
I kicked pebbles that laid on the ground, seeing how far I could kick them past Emily. The sunlight shining on my tanned skin, leaving me with a feeling of warmth. Ethan's arm, brushing up against mine, sending shivers throughout my body. I still didn't know why I felt like this.
-
The entire walk home Ethan and I talked and laughed. When we finally reached the apartment doors, we all exchanged numbers, hugged, and went our separate ways.
For some reason when Ethan hugged me, I felt safe in his arms. For that split second that he held me, I felt safe and secure. Did I really like him? My feelings were never really clear about themselves.
As we entered our apartment, I just went straight to my room, changed into some sweats, and took a nap. I was exhausted from socializing, and needed a well deserved nap.
-
I awoke to the sound of my alarm going off. I'd really been asleep for an hour already? Time seems to fly when you're asleep. I checked my phone, and to my surprise, I had a new text message.
Unknown Number: Hey, it's Ethan.
A/N
