2) You're Sick Bec
Friday rolled around and Chloe stood in front of her mirror getting ready. She pulled off the oversized grey shirt she'd been sleeping in the past day or two and began to put on a dark blue blouse. She sat on the edge of her bed, pulling her black leather boots on over her equally black skinny jeans.
Chloe wasn't particularly excited for the party itself, more for the alcohol that she'd be consuming there. At that stage, she felt that she'd try anything. She wanted to speak to Beca if she got the chance but wondered if the sight of her might make her feel worse. It wasn't as easy for her to brush aside feelings, but she'd been trying her hardest - avoiding her where possible even though they shared a house amongst other things. And, God, was it killing her.
When she stood again, she peered closer at her reflection and noticed the bags forming under her eyes. She ignored them, ruffling her newly blow dried hair a bit and drawing it back from her face. Hands on her waist, she looked at herself. I'd say this is not bad for someone who's spent the best part of the last two weeks feeling like death warmed up, she thought.
Deciding that she was ready, she bent down to pick up her purse and slipped the strap over her shoulder. She leant forward to turn the doorknob but, just as she did, she heard a knock on the other side.
"Uh," She called, confused - thinking the rest of the Bellas would've been waiting downstairs already. "Come in...?"
The doorknob turned and in stepped an ill-looking Beca. Her small frame was draped in large pyjamas and the end of her button nose was red from blowing it. She carried a tissue in her hand and seemed genuinely upset by the fact that Chloe was on her way out.
"Oh," She mumbled, trying to smile. "You're going with. I didn't know. Have a good time, Chlo."
With that, she turned to leave the room. But Chloe extended an arm forward to pull her back in. The two both felt something at the gesture - gentle sighing escaping both of their mouths.
"You're sick, Bec." Chloe said worriedly, stroking Beca's arm. She seemed slightly soothed by this. However much she wanted to hide it, Chloe couldn't mask her feelings in moments like these.
"Only a little," Beca shrugged before turning and coughing aggressively. Chloe was concerned by the sound, and pulled the smaller girl slowly into her arms.
"Look," Beca mumbled into her shoulder. "I thought you weren't going so I thought that'd give us a chance to mope around together. But now that I know that you are...I mean I don't want to be a jackass but I kind of want to say don't go."
"You want me to stay?" Chloe mumbled back against Beca's forehead, not quite realising that she'd said it out loud.
"Yeah, I want you to stay. Doesn't mean you have to-"
"I won't go," Chloe pulled away slightly, bringing her hands to either side of Beca's face and smiling warmly at her. "We can mope around together, okay?"
Chloe thought that the gesture would've made the other girl uncomfortable, but she actually seemed to be comforted by it. She leant her face onto one of Chloe's hands and nodded appreciatively in response.
