Curt's POV.
Today was Kira's turn to come over but she had dance class after school so she should have been here by 5:30pm; but she wasn't.
It was 8:40pm and still no sign of her.
"Curt" Dad said from behind me.
"She probably just took longer than usual. She'll come soon enough. Now let's go eat. We'll put something aside for Kira for when she comes."
I sighed, giving one more look out the window before going to the table.
Why was she late?
Did she forget?
We finished dinner and it started to pour outside.
I had given up on waiting for Kira when she didn't answer my fith call.
I heard a knock at the door downstairs and my mom opening it and gasping.
I rushed down the steps right as my mom called me.
I could here the rain pouring from outside as the door was still open.
Infront of the door I saw my mom kneeling over Kira lying down on the floor, completely drenched and... Bruised.
"Kira!" I yelled and ran towards her, my mom stepping aside and finally closing the door.
"Kira!" I called again, resting her head on my lap.
Her head lolled to the side.
"She just passed out as soon as I opened the door" my mom explained, panic evident in her voice.
"What's going on here!?" My dad asked as he stormed down the steps.
"Kira!" He yelled once he saw her in my arms, just as I was about to carry her to the couch infront of the fireplace.
"What happened?" He panicked, once he took her from my arms and layed her down on the couch as my mom ran upstairs to go and get a towel and blanket for Kira.
"I don't know, mom said she just passed out on the doorstep."
"We'd better call her parents." And he left as mom arrived.
I took the towel and blanket from her and carefully wrapped Kira up in them.
I took a wet lock of dark brown hair away from her face and examined the bruise on her forehead.
Had she been beaten up?
I heard my dad end the call and start talking with mom.
I laid down on the couch with Kira and held her close.
Whoever did this to her would pay.
