Chapter #47

(A/N Did you really think that I wouldn't leave you on a long cliffhanger?)

(Vikk's POV)

I glance up at Lachlan as we walk through the catacomb passages. I still can't believe it. After all this time, here we are. After Rob and Preston were killed, I guess I just snapped. Running from everything I used to be, I somehow wound up in that assassin's guild. It took me a long time to regain most of my mentality, but I kept think of Lachlan for all these years. How I left him when we needed each other the most. Never again. I'll be here for him now.

While I ran away, Lachlan kept fighting. He kept himself together to seek vengeance on our friend's murderers. He's one of the captains of an army now. I wonder if he still duel wields his swords? He was always really good at that. Plus, he practically steps on everyone he fights, being so freakishly tall. I've missed him.

"Ok, we're here. This door leads out to the front castle wall. Most of the squids should be here", Lachlan says to the troops. He then turns towards me. "Ready for another showdown?", he asks playfully. "Ready on your word, Little Lachy", I tease him with the nickname. He snickers before pushing open the door. I quickly follow behind, echoing his battle cry. This is where I'm meant to be.

(Jason's POV)

Sorry Sky, I can't sit on the sidelines doing nothing. I had followed him back to the catacomb entrance, sneaking in after everyone else had gone inside. I only wear one boot of my spacesuit that way I stand out less. My limp is barely noticeable like this. I have to find my dad. I miss him, and I want to find him before any fighting breaks out.

With the catacomb tunnels memorized, I quickly run through the passages. I can distantly hear everyone else walking around, their footsteps echoing on the stone. I ignore them. I know where to go, I just have to hurry. I turn one last corner before sliding to a stop in front a small, wooden door. I listen for any people before slowly punching it open. I'm in a small hallway, a few doors lining one side. My eyes land on the farthest one to the left. I'm finally here again. My dad should be right beside that door.

I excitedly rush forward, a smile stretching across my face. I missed Dad so much! I bet he'll be so happy to meet Don and see Sky again. I want to tell him all about what happed since he sent me to get help. I barge into the room, the door easily giving way against my pushing. A cloud of dust is swept up into my face. I cough and try to swipe it away, looking around the room. All the tools and bits of everything are right where I remember them being. "Dad!", I call out into the messy room. A side door leads to a bedroom, he should be here.

Before I can look any further, a hand comes down on my shoulder. I quickly spin around. I nervously smile as my mitch-match eyes meet with blue.

(Max's POV)

After Ross and I got the door open, we tagged along with the group heading towards the officials' and high-rankings' rooms in the castle. I had put him down after a few torches were lit, but my heart swells when he chooses to stay close to me. It pains me for him not to remember me. We even passed our old house on the way here. Nothing. Even if he never remembers, I will protect my little brother with my life. I won't lose him a second time.

"Ok you guys, are you ready to cook some calamari!?", our group captain shouts back at us. This must be Nick, I've heard that he's on the joking side of the spectrum. A chorus of whoops and hollers break out as the torches are extinguished and the door is being shoved open. We poor into the hall like a wave, but I make sure to grab onto Ross's wrist to keep him near me. Bedroom doors line this hall, and they're quickly forced open as soldiers poor in. But they quickly come back out with confused faces. "There's no one in the rooms, sir", they explain to Nick. "What! It's sunrise, they should all be sleeping!", Nick reasons.

A sudden scuffle from one of the rooms gets the attention of all the soldiers. The single recruit who went in, is kicked back out and falls onto the floor. Four people rush out of the room, carrying weapons. They freeze when they see all our eyes locked onto them. "Oh.... you guys aren't squids.....", one of them awkwardly mumbles. Before anyone can do anything else, I feel Ross slip out of my grip. I immediately follow after him as he runs forward and..... hugs one of the strangers? "Sonja! Why didn't you tell me you where leaving?", Ross whines at the girl. She seems at a loss for words, seeing Ross here with an army. "Do know these people, Ross?" Nick questions him.

He quickly nods his head, finally letting go of Sonja. "Everyone except him", Ross says, pointing to the man who spoke before. "Oh, um, my name is Jordan. You might recognize me as..... Captain Sparklez. Prince Adam's cousin", he shakily explains. I narrow my eyes, "Prove it". 'Jordan' sighs before pulling down the sleeve of his right shoulder and turning around. It's much less vivid then Sk- er, Adam's, but a faint golden ingot birthmark is proudly displayed on Jordan's shoulder.

"Ok, then what are you do-", Nick starts, but is cut off by a loud bang. The large doors at the end of the hall have been slammed open. Armored squids and squid hybrids poor in, all armed with swords or clubs. Why are there so many!? There shouldn't be this many. Have we walked into a trap!? The two forces quickly collide, sending everything onto chaos. My sword is drawn, and my feet lead me in front of Ross as a killing rage sweeps over me. No one is going to hurt my brother while I'm still standing.
