Getting ready
3 months later
*Emma*
"So getting cold feet ?" I walk into the room where Willa is getting her hair and makeup done. I am already in my bridesmaid dress and ready. I am so happy these two are finally getting married.
She looks up at me smiling. "Nope, my feet are all warm and toasty ... and you look absolutely beautiful ... that dress is absolutely perfect on you".
"Thanks, but not as beautiful as you sweetie. Tom is so gonna cry when he sees you ... like ugly crying". And I know Tom has some surprises that are bound to make her shed some tears too.
"Aww thanks ... but Tom never ugly criez". She grins, then stands up and twirls in her dress. "I know it's a bit to the sexy side ... but I really loved it from the first moment I saw it".
It is a beautiful dress, and it fits her perfectly, showing her slightly curvy body in the most flattering way. "Don't worry about that, you look so stunning ... and the dress is beautiful".
"I can't believe it ... In a moment I get to be Tom's wife, how on Earth did I get so lucky ?" She grins happily at me. "I have everything a woman could ever want".
"Well I remember the way you looked at him the first time you met him ...I think you visualised what you wanted and you got it, the power of a positive mind". I wink at her. "Even if it Took some time".
She giggles, shaking her head slowly. "Oh God ... you even start sounding like Tom now".
"Well, I could sound like worse things". I grin, Tom has read this book about positive manifestation and is telling everyone about it.
Willa laughs softly. "But honestly it makes total sense, especially when Tom explains it".
"Yeah I know you two have your deep talks wrapped up naked in bed ... he could make you believe the Earth was flat if he told you right after sex". I say, kneeling down and helping her slip on her shoes.
She giggles and wiggles her eyebrows. "Well what can I say ... he can be very persuasive".
"I can believe that". She says wiggling her eyebrows. "I mean he talked you into marrying him".
The door opens and Ben sticks his head in. "So are you two giggle heads ready for a wedding ?"
"Yes we are ... are you ?" Willa grins at him. "Oh you look dapper in that suit, like a real best man".
"Well thank you ... you look stunning by the way, a picture perfect bride". He says softly.
We walk outside where Will's girlfriend Dawn shows up with Charlie, wearing the cutest little tuxedo onesie. "Look at mommy Charlie ... isn't she beautiful ?"
Charlie of course doesn't answer, but flails his little chubby arms and makes a happy sound. Willa hurries over to kiss his cheek. "Aww he is so adorable ... looking like such a big boy today. Where are my little princesses ?"
My mother shows up with the girls and I quickly take over Emily, while mom keeps Charlotte. They are wearing matching little princess flower girl dresses.
"Aww look at you two". Willa hurries over to kiss them both on the head. "I might be biased, but I don't care, I have the most beautiful kids in the world".
"They are beautiful". My mom says. "And so are you my dear ... you are glowing. My son is a lucky man".
Willa smiles happily and looks about to cry. "Thank you".
"No need to Thank me". Ben pops up grinning. "No, actually I came to say that Tom is waiting at the altar and we are ready to get this show on the road".
"Someone is in a ... cheeky mood today". Willa giggles. "Come on then ... lets get me married".
Ben takes my free arm. "This way my ladies ... oh and Dawn, Charlie's ride is waiting".
Willa looks at me but I can only shrug ... having no idea what it is about. We walk out into the garden where all the guests are seated. There is a sign put up saying 'she's crazy about him, he's mad about her, please take a seat, anywhere you prefer'.
"So here is the ride". Ben says proudly and points to the little wagon that has been decorated with flowers and balloons on long strings. "The ring bearer express".
Willa clamps a hand over her mouth, looking close to tears again "Oh god how cute is that ?"
"Just you wait". Ben says, taking Charlie and sitting him in the baby seat that has been attached, making sure he is secured before handing him a sign that says: 'No worries ladies, I am still single'.
"That is about the cutest thing I ever saw". I am clapping my hands. "Even if Charlie is sucking on the sign".
Ben smiles at me. "There you go ... all ready to wow the crowd".
Dawn takes the handle of the wagon and leads the little procession down the aisle ... on the back of the wagon there is a sign saying ... 'here comes the bride'.
"And now it's us". Ben offers me his arm again and leads me down between the chairs. Emily is grinning happily and waving her arms at the guests.
*Willa*
I watch as Ben leads Emma down the aisle, my little sweetie Emily on her aunt's arm, waving and grinning, it warms my heart.
I can't believe Tom arranged for Charlie to be ring bearers like that ... it is just the cutest thing ever ... and I had been close to ruining my makeup.
"You look so beautiful my dear". Tom's mom, with Charlotte, my little troublemaker, on her arm says as she leans in to kiss my cheek.
"So do you ...Diana ". I smile at her. And she does look great, and happy, she seems to love Being a grandmother. "Thank you for letting me marry your son".
She squeezes my hands. "No thank you, for making him happy ... and now I will let this beautiful girl lead me down the aisle".
I watch as she walks in between the chairs, little Charlotte on her arm taking flower petals from a little box and stuffing as many in her mouth as she is throwing.
Then my oldest son is by my side. "Ready mom ? There is a handsome man waiting up there just for you".
I reach out to straighten his tie. "Well I have a very handsome man with me right here too ... you clean up pretty good, but yeah all ready to go commit to my man forever".
"You look beautiful mom". He says with a warm smile. "Like a princess".
"Thank you". I lean down to kiss his cheek. "So does Dawn by the way".
He sighs softly. "Yeah she does".
I giggle and slap his arm as the music starts; I place my hand on his shoulder, as he needs his hands to push himself forward. He leads me down between two rows of chairs where our friends and family are smiling at us ... but all I have eyes for is the beautiful man standing at the altar, smiling at me.
Oh yes I did make a very wise choice despite the bumps.
