Chapter Twelve
A/N – Hey guys and welcome to Chapter Twelve. Hannah's outfit ^^^^^
----- Hannah's P.O.V -----
The barbeque ended pretty well actually, no one wanted to go home. Me, Cam, Grayson, Ethan, Matt, Nash and Hayes all ended up sleeping in the living room back at my house. My Dad went to bed as soon as we got back, well not immediately because he threw down some blankets and pillows for us. Hayes slept on one sofa, Nash and Matt shared the other sofa, Cam and I slept next to each other on the floor and then Grayson and Ethan were on the floor too – I think that most of the lads ended up sleeping in their boxers or their shorts but none of them fell asleep in shirts.
My Dad literally just came downstairs and opened the living room door, he didn't wake all of us up to start with but he went and opened the curtains so that the sun basically blinded us all. However, my Dad has gone off to work though, as it is a Saturday he needs to go to work, plus it is 7 in the morning right now. All of us are awake currently, I didn't mind being woken up but the lads are all adjusting to the morning. I sit up on the floor but Cameron pulls me down to lie on his chest "Can't I sit up now?" I ask jokingly and he shakes his head "Nah, sorry Babygirl" he says and I roll my eyes.
I look over at Nash and Matt who are still lying down on the sofa, top and tail, "You have a nice house Han" Nash says and I smile "Thanks, I've grown to like it too actually" I say and he laughs. I stand up and straighten out the shirt of Cameron's that I am currently wearing, "Anyone want breakfast?" I ask as I walk to the windows and open a couple of them "In all honesty, I don't think that any of us are hungry" Grayson answers and the rest of them nod in response, "I agree with you guys" I say and I sit back down next to Cameron.
Just as I sit down, my phone rings – it is on charge next to the sofa where Nash and Matt are, "Pass me my phone please?" I ask and Nash tosses it to me "Ta" I say and he smiles. I answer the call without looking at the Caller ID, I don't get cold callers so it will be someone I know and it isn't like I get people calling me that often. Literally, my call history is predominantly Cameron apart from a few calls to my Dad, a couple of calls from Beth and then like one to my Uncle.
(H – Hannah~C – Coach Peters)
H – Hello?
C – Hannah Mills? I do still have the right number for you, I'm hoping.
H – That would be me, so yes you do.
C – Well, Captain-
H – Wait, Coach Peters? You are the only one that has ever called me Captain.
C – Hey! The team used to call you that too.
H – Of course they did, only when I was actually playing and part of the team.
C – Oh hush you, you've always been part of the team.
Cameron slips his arm around my waist, as I lean back against him.
H – Coach, why are you calling?
C – Will you come down to the club?
H – Coach, I stopped for a reason.
C – I know you did. But, it is the last match of the season and if we win this, we win the league and we get promoted. Hannah, we are just an over 16s team. We aren't a first team or even a second team, so promotion would mean big things for us.
H – We all know that promotion would mean big things, but none of the lads would make second or first team until they were at least 18 anyway.
C – Jason is 18 Hannah, he was your Co-Captain and he has more of a chance than anyone.
H – I know that Jase is talented Coach, he always has been but why do you need me?
C – We need you back here, just for this game. We can change the team, you're still a part of the team so we won't be breaking any rules.
H – Explain why Coach.
C – You are the best chance we have of winning Hannah. The lads are talented, they have so much potential but please, just come back for one game.
H – It's today right?
C – Yes.
H – Fine, what time?
C – Thank you so much Hannah, get here 3 hours before usual match time so 10.
H – Alright, see you then Coach.
I hang the phone up, and look around the room to be met by multiple confused faces. Before I answer them, I text my Uncle Mark 'Hey Uncle Mark, Coach Peters just rang me and convinced me to go down to the club today. He wants me to play in the game today, and I agreed. Please could you take me? Dad is at work and I am certain that Grayson, Ethan, Matt, Hayes, Nash and Cameron will want to come but we aren't all going to be able to fit in one car xxx'. I send the text and then turn to the lads "Who was that on the phone?" Hayes asks and I smile slightly "It was my old Coach, from the cricket" I tell them.
My phone beeps with another text, before I have chance to reply to any other questions. I check my phone and see a reply from my Uncle 'I am glad you're getting back into the game Hanni. How about I take you, Cameron and all of his friends in our 7-seater. You will probably have to go on someone's lap, and as long as you are up for that, then Aunt Nicole will take Beth, Alex and Dave with her xxx'. After reading the text, I quickly type a reply out 'It is only one game. But, what time please? As I need to get changed into cricket gear, and the lads will need to get changed too. All of us need to shower too, and we only have two showers here – so at the minimum, we will take a couple of hours xxx', I send the text and within minutes my Uncle replies 'At least you're playing Hanni, and okay, we will come and pick you all up at 9 xxx'.
I stand up and all of them look to me "Any of you up for some cricket?" I ask and they all look confused, all of them apart Cameron that is, "The man on the phone, he was my old Coach as I have just said. He wants me to play today, I haven't played in at least a year but I agreed. My Uncle is coming to pick all of us up at 9, so we have two hours. Who is showering first?" I explain quickly and Cameron stands up "It's your house, you go and shower in your Dad's bathroom. I will go in your bathroom, then once you are out the lads can have showers and get ready" Cameron says and all the lads nod "Sounds like a plan guys" I say and they all laugh.
I head upstairs and I hear Cameron following me. He goes into my bathroom and I chuck him a towel, I then go back downstairs and give all of the guys their towels. I go back upstairs, there seems to be a lot of climbing the stairs going on, and go and have my shower. I manage to shower relatively quickly, so I go into my bedroom and pull out my clothes. I haven't played cricket in a while, I was the only girl on an all-boys team and I was Captain so it was a lot of strain if I am honest – however, I never had to wear the full cricket gear, when we're fielding all I wear are some black sports leggings, a mainly white polo shirt with black stripes as that's the team's colours and then some black trainers.
So, I have pulled all of those out and I get changed into them. I put my hair into a pony tail, just as I am tying my hair back, Cameron walks into my bedroom. I turn around and face him "You look so hot in that" he says sitting down on my bed, as he pulls his shirt on "Well thanks, you do know that cricket can be boring right?" I ask, making sure that he does know that it isn't like football and it does get bloody boring at times "I don't think that it is boring, I mean sometimes I may get confused but I can just ask your Uncle what is going on" he says and I giggle a little "Go tell the lads to start showering and get changed" I say and he chuckles "Matt and Hayes are showering now, then it will be Grayson and Ethan and then Nash. They will all take like 10 minutes tops to get changed, so we will be ready on time" he says as he walks towards me.
He pulls me into a hug from behind "I am looking forward to seeing you play" he says and I laugh "Don't blame me if I am bad, I haven't played in a year" I tell him and he chuckles "Why did you give up?" he asks and I sigh. We both sit down on my bed, "I gave up because I didn't feel like I could play anymore. I was told that I was a good player, and I shouldn't leave but I wasn't enjoying it" I start to explain, I have told Cameron roughly why I quit before but I never went into detail with it.
Cameron puts his arm around my shoulder "Cam, I played because my Dad urged me to and my Dad loved to watch my games. Obviously, my Mum never got to see me play but she helped me learn to dance when I was little. Once I started to play, I found that it was fun but then I got a load of crap for being a girl and playing cricket. I didn't want to put up with it, I mean at first I didn't let it bother me but when it was practically every game I was playing, I gave up" I explain everything to him, and I know that Cameron can sense the sadness in my voice.
I know I can tell Cameron anything and everything, he would never judge or hurt me and I feel safe with him.
