A few hours later, Chris and I were walking to The Bakery, one of the band's studios. We walked side by side along the pavement in comfortable silence, lost in our thoughts. Chris wore a thick black beanie over his golden locks and a light blue down jacket to protect himself from the bitterly cold air.
He had lent me his comfy leather jacket to throw over my clothes- it smelt of him, it made me feel at ease. He had also given me a scarf to wrap around my face in attempt to hide my bruises from view. Chris turned his head to gaze at me.
"Are you alright? You're awfully quiet " he said, gazing down at me with kind eyes.
"Yeah, I'm fine" I smiled at him. "Just thinking really"
"About what?" He asked curiously
"Well, all of this really.... it's all so surreal..." I admitted, pulling the scarf closer to my face, trying to hide the fact that I was blushing. He chuckled warmly.
"Hey, don't worry about all this alright? It's me that saved you- I want to help you... I'm sure the guys will love you too" he added, a mischievous look in his eyes.
"Wait... the others are gonna be there too?" I asked, feeling a smile pulling at my lips.
"Yeah! Well, Will's definitely going to be there by now. Jonny and Guy will probably come later- we might see them though " he said. I nodded.
"So what are they like?" I asked. He chuckled, thinking about what to say.
"Well Will's the frightening one who plays drums. He's like the anchor of the ship- but he's a softy really. Guy's the handsome one who plays bass, the girls love him! He's quiet but he'll speak up if he really means something. Jonny's the wise one who plays guitar, I'd say he's probably the shyest guy ever. Then there's Phil, he's our first manager but he's the creative director now. I'd say he's the wise, handsome, frightening one who tells us what to do!" He exclaimed, laughing along with me.
"And what about you? How do you describe yourself?" I asked. He paused, gazing into the distance thoughtfully.
"I'm the other one who sings" he said, his smile lighting up his face.
"That sounds so plain!" I chuckled, shoving him playfully. He looked at me in shock, laughing before suddenly grabbing my upper legs and hoisted me into his arms and flung me upside down over his shoulder in a fireman's lift.
"Oh My God!!! Chris put me down!" I screamed, hitting his muscled back with my fists lightly.
"NEVER!" He screamed as He giggled like a child and spun us around wildly and ran along the street before finally putting me down. I gazed up at him with a huge smile.
"Well that was unexpected... I didn't know you were that strong!" I mocked, laughing as he flexed his biceps.
"Well thanks.... they don't call me Mr Muscles for nothing you know... not that you weigh a lot, you're as light as a feather" he said.
"Smart ass" I said, laughing as he feigned looking upset. "Sorry!" I added, in attempt to not hurt his feelings.
"It's alright- I'm only joking" he smirked. "C'mon, we're nearly there" he said as he took off down the street at a run, jumping and spinning playfully. I sighed before breaking into a run in attempt to catch up with his lanky legs.

10 minutes later, we were on the doorstep of The Bakery. Chris punched in the code of the security lock before holding the door open, allowing me to enter. I smiled gratefully at him before stepping in, instantly hit by warmth and the smell of fresh paint drying on the walls. We hung our coats up on the hooks provided. I gazed up to meet his eyes.
"We'll just go through that door to the living area, we can chill until the others get here" he said leading the way. I hung back behind him. He spun around to face me.
"Just be yourself and don't worry ok? The lads are nice" he whispered, taking my hand in his and squeezed it reassuringly. I smiled up at him in gratitude. He turned and opened the door.
Inside sat 3 huge sofas in the middle of the room, all facing each other in a triangle. They were also facing a large flat screen tv that sat on the wall in Front of them. Fairy lights were draped on the high skirting boards that lined the room. A few acoustic guitars were stood in their stands in the far corner, accompanied by an upright black piano. In the other corner, a shaven head man with a ginger beard sat at a work desk, busily jotting ideas down on paper. Sensing our presence, he looked up.
"Hey Chris! Oh hello!" He greeted, his face lighting up with curiosity when he saw me. He stood up and walked over to us.
"Hey Will, this is Lucy, she's my friend" he said , turning to face me with a smile. Will stuck his hand out and took his hand in mine, shaking it.
"Hey Lucy! I'm Will, I'm the band's drummer- also the brains behind the project" he joked, causing me to giggle and Chris to glare at us jokingly, making us laugh harder.
"He's right though" Chris stated, his eyes shining. "He's the one who keeps us all in line".
Will laughed in response before sitting down on one of the sofas. Chris and I joined him, chatting about the band, his wife and kids- life in general. Chris explained my situation, causing Will's eyes to fill with worry and he took my hand in his reassuringly.
"I'll do anything I can to help you, anytime, ok?" He asked, those brown eyes gazing into mine. They were kind eyes that made my insides feel warm and tingly. I knew I could trust him.
"Thank you" I whispered, smiling as he pulled me into a solid hug. Once we pulled away, I looked up to see Chris grinning at us knowingly. Suddenly the door impeded and in walked two men.
One had dark unruly hair and was of medium height and slim build. He had dark, gentle eyes and chiselled features, stubble growing on his jawline. He wore a dark leather jacket accompanied with dark blue jeans and black converse trainers.
The other man was considerably taller but was of a more solid build. He had a blonde beard that covered the lower part of his face and had piercing green eyes. He wore a baseball cap over his hair (which really suited him) and dark jacket, jeans and converses.
"Alright chaps?" He shorter one questioned, a hint of a Scottish accent clear in his voice. He turned his head to see me sitting next to Will on the sofa. "Hi! I'm Guy and this is Jonny" he pointed to the tall guitarist behind him.
"Hey!" Jonny said, smiling shyly at me, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Hey! I'm Lucy... I'm Chris' friend" I said, smiling towards them shyly. Chris explained the situation to them, earning myself sympathetic looks from them. We sat chatting for a while and I met Phil too, who spoke up after chatting for what felt like ages- not that I minded!
"Right, let's get to work shall we?" He said, laughing at Chris who rolled his eyes jokingly before heaving himself onto his feet as the guys got their instruments set up. I stayed where I was, watching them all in wonder. All of them were so nice and friendly- despite their incredible success over the last 15 or so years. It was so humbling to see that fame hadn't changed any of them, they were incredibly talented friends who just loved music and having a laugh together.
From that moment on, I knew that my life had changed forever, but this time for the better, now that I had 5 amazing new friends!
