So when I first heard the song (which is named Good for you if you just ignore the video and spoilers warning) I thought that it Was Evan's Mother, Alana, and Jared cheering Evan on... it is an upbeat song titled "GOOD for you" I didn't look into the lyrics and hear the hints of sarcasm littered throughout the the song because the recording that was released was this

No backstory, I didn't know the characters emotions going into the song

BUT THEN YESTERDAY (at the time of writing this)
I came across the animatic. It had the speaking and showed all the emotions and in the comments I saw this
"I like the use of the highlights in the eyes, it shows a direct comparison to the song waving through a window line: we start with stars in our eyes, we start believing that we belong but every sun doesn't rise and nobody tells you where you went wrong"

This means that Evan finally realized where he went wrong (or at least that's the artist representation)

"But Connor," I hear the 0% of people who stayed say "you heard the song tons of times before seeing the animatic you hear Evan singing in it about he has to find a way to stop it stop it just let me out."
