Don't die, Teacher Zhan
Two
Xiao Zhan led his students to the greenhouse of the school, "Wait for me here," He told them and hurriedly went to the clinic.
"Good morning, Hao Xuan, can I ask for some painkillers, ointments for bruises and Band-aids too?"
The doctor smiled at him, "Why don't you bring this medicine kit with you instead?" Wang Hao Xuan was also an employee of the prestigious private school. They both had the same year of working experience to this institution, Jia Jia and Hao Xuan were his close friends here.
"Oh yeah...I'm sorry," He said trying to hide his fright. "Thank you so much," Xiao Zhan bowed, accepting the man's offer.
"Where will you use that?"
"To my students," he mumbled under his breath.
His friend looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, "I never heard such things happened here until now, why did they fought with each other?"
He sighed, looking at the kit, "I don't know the story behind the quarrel but they told me that they had a little fight with the new student."
Hao Xuan held on his stethoscope, "Hm...the son of Wang Entertainment Company, they developed and popularized K-pop and C-pop stars with huge fandoms worldwide with their main headquarters here in China. An inconsiderate lad. Constantly in every newspapers headlines, gossip magazines and broadcasted in every social media platform. He is born on earth to soil his fathers name. I don't think he'll be the future CEO of that prodigious company."
The information from the doctor was unknown to Xiao Zhan but he ended up nodding to show his agreement, in the back of his mind he wasnt interested to know that. He has his own life to worry about. I am built to die... "Maybe he got reasons for being like that,"
The man shrugged, "Maybe."
"Well, we will try our best to guide him and mold him to change for the better until he'll graduate," he smiled to his friend.
"He won't graduate, Teacher Zhan because tomorrow he'll transfer to another school again after what he'd done today to your students,"
Xiao Zhan frowned, "Can I ask a favor?"
"Go on,"
"Don't tell this to anyone even Yan Xujia," the way his voice sounded made him cringe mentally. He was pleading for someone who will hate him for sure. Delinquents pupils never liked their teachers.
"You are really a teacher, putting your life on the line for students who are immatures and irresponsible," Hao Xuan shook his head.
"I'm not doing this only for my students," he reasoned out.
"I know, to that boy too," His friend inhaled and exhaled, "All right. I won't tell anyone even Jia Jia."
"Let's just give him a chance and space to grow up, everyone deserves lot of chances," As a professional teacher for eight years now on the field of teaching, he learned countless things that made him a loving and caring instructor. He prioritized the well-being of his students. Physically, mentally and emotionally. Yes, they have different attitude and personality but the love, care, support and guidance from the teacher will definitely sink to their cores, nobody was made to be a coldhearted person, society and judgmental people around created the monsters they soon to be horrified of.
"Thank you for this and please keep your promise," He raised the box he was holding and trudged to the place where he left his students.
The greenhouse was one of those gigantic structures inside the school premises that protruded visibly to the city with transparent glass roofs and walls. Temperature inside was warmer because of sunlight and heating equipments, mainly controlled automatically by computers were installed to improve and optimize the conditions of planted plants.
He arrived with the kids still wiping the blood off from their faces and were sitting on the wooden benches that lined up near the lotus and waterlilies manmade pond. "Here, put it on your wounds and bruises," the teacher handed the boys several ointments and small liquids of antibiotic medicines.
"What will we do, Teacher Zhan? We can't go to class looking like this, our uniforms are splattered with red blood," said Guo Cheng helping his best friend, Fan Xing, rubbing the ointment to his wound on the jaw.
Xiao Zhan looked at the faces of his five students with pity, he knew they didnt start the fight with that boy.
"Tell me what happened," These boys were the top five in the list of the school's ranking with all of the students who attended here. From an elite family, good background, they were all A+ personages with flying colors from middle school and quite popular in high school.
"I was running late and accidentally bumped to that new student. I apologized but he kicked me on the wall and started punching me," Cao Jun Xiang spoke in a low tone.
"We saw what he did to Jun so we walked up to him and tried to stop him from hurting our friend but he ended beating us all," Fan Xing added hiding his trembling hands.
"Are you telling me the truth? You knew too well I dont tolerate liars," his imposing voice let the boys understood what he meant. He was siding to the righteous and truth not to the opposite of it. That was one of his principles that he wouldnt break not till God command him to do so.
"Okay, I'll get a car," He opened his phone and tap a ride-hailing app. He went on his account and typed on the screen. "Fan Xing, your mom still in Europe for business meeting, right?"
The one being asked answered a 'Yes'.
"Good, ride the Volvo I rented that waited outside the school to your house with your friends, fix yourselves there and come back to school tomorrow,"
The students stared at him and happily beamed, "Thank you so much, Teacher Zhan!" they all said at the same time.
"Uhm. But sir we have a test in Quantum and Classical Mechanics, your subject..." Jun Xiang said in rough tone due to the pain he felt from the beating, "I dont want to be absent."
Xiao Zhan put two fingers in the bridge of his nose, "You are all excused and I'll write a letter for your other teachers asking them to reconsider your absence."
His students stood up and bowed repeatedly, "Thank you so much, Teacher Zhan."
"Okay, go. Take a rest and make sure to eat healthy food." he ordered them and watched them skipped away.
Don't follow the trail I chose. Live your life to the fullest and never ever think about ending it.
This world needs someone like that...

As he set foot on the room, the noise died out. He placed his books on the teachers table and looked directly to the nineteen male that stared back at him, his home class, "Get your pen and we'll start the class with fifty items test, don't tell me it surprises you. I've been announcing about it last week,"
"Damn...I forgot to study," someone from the back complained. "Sorry, Teacher Zhan."
He chuckled; a little bit loud "Dont worry, if you can't pass it, I'll give you another set of tests, much easier" he playfully winked.
Sighed of relief filled the classroom.
"Okay, okay, are you all ready?" When no ones grumble, he distributed the printouts he created last night to his students. He then went back to his table and sat quietly on the chair.
"You have half an hour to finish it, he declared as he glanced on his wristwatch. "You may start now."
After the test, he introduced a new lesson about theorems, algebra calculations and other mathematical concepts. As expected, all of his student listened attentively and took notes obediently. He made this subject a little endurable to his learners by giving them simple formulas he originally formed and shortcuts for an easy memorization.
"Do you have any inquiries? Raise it to the class so that I can help you dissect the formula again," The teaching strategies Xiao Zhan used suited to heterogeneous minds and capabilities of the learners; nobody was left behind when he was the lecturer.
Someone questioned and he appreciatively repeated his explanation until the bell rang and he dismissed them.
"Hey, Zhan," He turned to his friend who ate a lunch pack from that famous Malaysian restaurant near the school. He was organizing his paper works and checking the test papers when Jia Jia came to his classroom with paper bag of food.
"What?" He gulped his water.
"I said, did you read the new memo our principal sent to our emails one hour ago? The memo tackled about that exact rule from the schools handbook, that every teacher will have to get twenty-five boys under their wings."
"Hmmm...I didnt check my email yet, why?" He asked, gaping at the untouched food in front of him.
"Every class here consists twenty-five students..."
He didnt have a clue what was that statement his friend trying to imply but he's damn sure its not a good news, "Yes, but I only have twenty-four."
Earlier nineteen showed up, the other five... He shook his head thinking about the injured boys he had helped.
"Exactly, you are the only homeroom adviser that has twenty-four learners."
I wonder where this conversation ends up..."So, you are telling me that...?"
"The new student, Wang Yibo will be assigned to you."
Xiao Zhan smirked. What a coincidence.
