Pride Bracelet
Well, that's at least what I was going for but it isn't too obvious which is good knowing the people around me but not good for showing support so idk how I feel about that.
I used the rainbow flag colors and also black and white bc that's the ally flag and I hoped it would make the whole thing more neutral which was what I was going for bc I didn't want to get into arguments with my family as talks about the topic at the dinner table where I wasn't even involved were enough for me.
So this is the thing in making (I will explain the process as this is an easy way to make a bracelet and can be used for pretty much anything):
1) take strings of the colors you want to have in your bracelet (there has to be at least 6 of them if I'm correct (they don't have to be all different, you can take one color but have 6 strings of it)) and tie them together on one end
2) make this kinda circle thing out of cardboard or something (I didn't have any so I glued together some thicker sheets of paper). There has to be a hole in the center and cuts on the edges. The number of cuts depends on the string number and there has to be one extra cut (e.g. I used 8 strings, so I made 9 cuts).
3) put the tied strings through the hole and the knot has to stay on one side and lose ends on the other like this (sorry for bad quality):
4) separate your strings into the cuts (one remains empty)
5) start weaving. It's kinda hard to explain but I'll try. First of all it really helps to draw an arrow on the cardboard for not losing the direction you're going to weave in. Then you have to determine the number of strings you're gonna jump over. I don't really know what that depends on, so I'll give an example and hopefully that helps. So let's say you're weaving with 8 strings and you have to jump over 4. It will be more clear if you look at that photo. So there's a gap between red and black strings. I'm weaving in clockwise direction, so that means I'm now taking the blue string and putting it into the gap. Now there's a gap between green and purple strings, so I have to move the red string. Just continue doing that until you see a pattern and then you don't even have to count anymore.
After some time this thing starts to show on the side with the knot:
Once it appears, you just keep weaving but you have to tug on it every once in a while because it tends to get stuck in the hole.
Some more pics:
Once you decide it's long enough, you just take it out and tie a knot on the other side so it doesn't unravel and that's pretty much it.
(I took the last pic rn, so that's why it's different from the others)
Very important detail when cutting the strings for weaving, make them at least three times longer than you actually need the bracelet to be. If there's excess, you can just cut it off later but you can't add if you lack.
