Yo, hello again

Tis I

And I have brought you some new OCs that I made during the past two months (well, a month really, because I had some ideas in November but they weren't actually visual and all of these new characters kinda got their appearances on accident)

It's gonna be tricky to describe them because I have multiple in one picture and then a bunch of these pictures, but I'll try

Also, I took a lot of the poses they're standing in from Pinterest "draw your squad" memes because I think they're hilarious

Number 1

Left to right ig

First off, the lady only got her name this morning tho I've had her in my mind for a while. Her name's Violet, I don't have a last name yet but it will come eventually, I don't want to think of names, I just want them to come sorta naturally bc I think they fit better that way. So during the events of what I have in my head she's already dead and is a ghost who got accidentally summoned by the dude on the right. She used to live sometime in the 1800s and is the typical strict, narrow-minded woman with strong opinions you would see in movies set in that time. I literally though of her design as I was drawing it bc I really wanted to use that template and it also made a lot of sense with the OCs dynamic, so that was kind of rushed but I tried to make it as historically accurate as possible and I'm pretty happy how she turned out.

The girl in the middle is Liz. She's living in the present time and she found an old abandoned mansion, snuck inside and found out it's haunted but the ghosts turned out to be friendly and as confused and scared as she was, so she started hanging out with them. She's into sports and is going to high school (not sure what grade she is in yet). I also think she isn't exactly straight but I haven't figured out what is right for her yet. Her design was pretty much accidental too bc I was working on this animation exercise and decided it would be fun to do a person jumping off a cliff and then running and I came up with this very brief sketch of what later became to be her. I didn't plan on it but the next day I was super bored in class at school and started doodling stuff and doodled the same girl I was animating and it looked good, so I traced that with some black markers and my friend who was sitting next to me saw it and the borrowed me some highlighters, so I colored her and then decided that this was the person I needed to fill that spot for an OC idea. And that's Liz for you.

The dude's been here the longest but he, ironically, doesn't have a name yet. I had the idea of making an OC with this goofy, outgoing and kinda extravagant personality for a while but couldn't figure out how they would look. Then I was learning to animate a walk cycle and I was going for a stickman but then gave it a top hat to make it look more fun but it looked weird, so I kept adding stuff until he became what he is now. I really want to share that animation but Wattpad won't allow me. Anyway, he's also currently a ghost living in that mansion with Violet bc he had accidentally summoned her when trying to win a bet with his step-sister but ended up cursing himself and Violet and making both stuck in the house forever. He used to live sometime in the 1900s but I like to think of him walking around in the 1920s (if you haven't already figured out I have a thing with the decade, you have now). He used to be involved in some sketchy business, getting and selling alcohol which was illegal at that time. He's also into dancing.

Number 2

So this is a fun story with these two. In the summer of 2019 I think, my class went on a trip to the Czech Republic and we had some spare time. I and three other girls were waiting at a restaurant to be served and one of them started saying random names trying to guess the name of the waitress. And something clicked with the name "Sonia" and we kept repeating it to each other for the rest of the day. At some point we were wandering across the central square of the city and came up to this weird looking shack and the girl randomly knocked on the door yelling "Sonia!" and then walked away. What she didn't see is that the shack wasn't actually abandoned and we had just came to the back side of a merchant stall somehow and this lady came out super confused while the three of us who were observing the whole thing were basically dying.
Later during that trip we went to some mining place and the tour guide had a very weird accent. She kept telling everyone to "watch out step" because the "stairs are very steep". The problem was that instead of "steep" she sounded like she was saying "Steve" so obviously our group picked up on it and eventually the entire class was joking about this Steve character. The thing was that the four of us still had Sonia from before and Steve was a very nice addition to that, so we kinda made this our thing.

Ever since that happened I had this image of these two people in a relationship or something and I really wanted to draw it but it never looked right and it finally did. In the process, they lost their jobs and names bc those doesn't exactly fit anymore but the dynamic stayed.

So the lady on the left (previously Sonia, currently unnamed) is very dominant and kind of a badass. She's the step-sister of the guy from the other pic. Her father was shot dead and her mother remarried. She's also into some side of the sketchy business but I haven't figured out exaxtly what part of it. I tried to base her design on flappers but it was kinda complicated because of her body type but I think I pulled it off fine.

The guy is clearly not in control (yes, they're dating). Also, the fact that his name started out as "Steve" is really ironic and I kinda wanted to keep it but it doesn't line up with the time lines well bc that name wasn't really around during that time he was supposed to be born. He's awkward and introverted. He likes books. And he very much loves the lady. Design was also based on tons of old pictures on Pinterest.

Liz and her best friend Ash. Ash is non-binary and go by they/them. Occasionally have a very fem or very masc day and then like to be called Ashley or Asher accordingly. They're into gardening, diy and occultism. Didn't think much about the design, it kinda just came to me.

Number 5

This is the newest one, I literally finished it like and hour ago but in a sence this is also the oldest one.

So this is a demon figure I decided to throw into the mix because why not. I haven't really thought about any character traits yet because it's still pretty random and new at this point but the design old (it went through changes tho). I wanted a demon OC for this animatic idea I have but I couldn't figure out how they should look and then remembered I spent a whole month animating random promps from this prompt list that I found all the way back during the first lockdown and all of those are still up on my Instagram and one of the first ones I did was actually a cute demon girl. Ofc, I changed her a bit and I think more changes might be coming as I'm not entirely satisfied yet but for now I have this and it's better than nothing. Still no name tho.

That's it for this time ig. But it's a lot of character and ig I can say that don't want them just to exist like this and I hope to work out a way for them to end up in a webcomic or animated series on YouTube because that would be a dream come true. So far I don't really have much details figured out to make it happen, so I can't but I will start working on this AMV I mentioned before starring Ash and the demon. I found this song (not naming it to keep some intrigue going on) and thought an animatic would work really nice with it. I also have been wanting to animate a dance sequence for a while and this is actually a good chance for it. So yeah, this is coming, ig, I'm hoping to start working on it tomorrow but I know it will take a lot of time to get it done, so that's long way to go but who cares.
