Art School (?)
I got back my drawings and other works from last year, so you're seeing them now because yes
First up: these paper things I have no idea how to call:
1)
Giving me Christmas vibes, might hang up on my bedroom ceiling when we move and I don't have to share my ceiling because they do look kinda nice.
2)
I have literally no idea what to do with those, probably going into a drawing folder or sth because they can fold nicely and they don't really serve a decorative purpose (maybe the one on the left does but the other two...)
3)
These are toys ig, you can flip them in and out and kinda fidget like that. There both identical, except one is a bit smaller. I made both patterns on photoshop out of this (also my drawing):
This is what we call "graphic design"
Up next: this wooden statue that the teacher told me not to keep under direct sunlight because the stuff holding it together will melt (he had to fix most of them because of it):
(ignore my curtains and the smidge of wall)
Next: whatever this is:
We had to find some pictures of moving people and make them into stick figures. Not the best thing I've created (the last one is kinda nice tho).
Moving on: I literally have no idea what this is, I had forgotten it exists until today:
It's probably supposed to be one of the paper things but it's definitely not finished.
(ignore the napkin, I put it there to cover my name)
For the big finale: my drawings:
1)
Dis the first one. It's so terrible it's amazing how I got to the last one in less than a year lmao
2)
A bit better, still pretty bad
3)
This one is interesting. We drew it with chalk on this weird thin brown paper. I remember being really proud of it but now that I look at it.... Not so much haha. I mean, the prism or whatever is good but that bottle...
4)
(napkin for name coverage again) Now this is a funny story. We came in that day, sat down at the single big desk I'm that classroom. The teacher approached a closet that was by the desk and without saying anything to us took out an egg out of it. Then he put a piece of paper in the middle of the desk and smacked that egg onto it. Then gave us some black paper and pastels and told to draw it. I was trying not to wheeze the whole time. As for the drawing quality, the egg itself is actually pretty good but the shells really could use some more work. Also, I just remembered. Whole i was working on this, this kid came around who was working on something else I think (we sometimes get different tasks), he saw that drawing and, I swear, if I hadn't seen the surprised emoji face (I'll put it here in the parentheses but I'm not sure if it will work bc wattpad: 😲) irl before, I did at that moment.
5)
Drew this during lockdown, so I got no help whatsoever. Had at least 3 mental breakdowns pondering if I should quit. It's a big step down from that egg.
6)
Still lockdown. This one was a lot more interesting, so it gave me a bit of a confidence boost and I decided to at least finish that year, like, I could quit before September but no earlier than June. As y'all can see, I ended up not quitting at all (current position: if they quarantine everyone again, I'm out because then we get no lessons, just tasks to do and it's good for practice but I could do that on my own without needing to pay for it)
7)
This. This is my baby. I hated the pic he sent us so much. But this is my favorite drawing of my entire career at the art school. I did disobey because I drew it on A4 paper instead of A3 because I didn't really have time or will but it was pretty fun (I was listening to My Chemical Fancast the whole time lmao). Also did this during quarantine so this was a HUGE confidence boost and it's been around half of year and I'm still very proud of it so that's something.
OK, folks, I don't think I have any more works now. I do have something to tell haha
So when I was at set school today, I was working on the computer, but some other people had other tasks. During last lesson, one guy was told to make a design for a print he had to start making today, meanwhile I was sitting there wearing a shirt that's design was made exactly that way, except it was hand drawn on the linoleum and not using a stencil. Today he had to start carving out the linoleum, meanwhile, I was putting all of my old works into a tote bag with the design printed that way. And I noticed that he was holding the tool wrong, therefore it was really hard to carve that way. And his hand was in the position where it's very easy to get injured because that thing is sharp af. I kinda wanted to tell him but I didn't, because I assume my teacher doesn't know I know the technique and it would be pretty weird of me (I sound like a douche now but, I promise, it's not as bad as it sounds).
Anyway, I wonder if he'll ever give me the task because it would be pretty funny if he explained me how to do it and go on with his day, thinking I'm gonna do it two to three more lessons only to find out that I'm done after 30-60 minutes, if not faster, depending on the design, because I'm usually really slow but I'm pretty good at handling this thing, as I've been doing it for at least three years now.
The question may arise: how, where and why?
How:
I carve the design onto a linoleum and put it into a press, to print on a thing
Where:
My friend's mom and also one of the supervisors of a summer camp discovered the technique few years back and taught all the kinds at the camp to do it.
Why:
Because every year we make these now and it's kind of a tradition at this point. It's really heartwarming to have a thing that you made whole having the best time of your life
So... In short, if anyone's interested, I can make a chapter on the press thing. I have printed a couple of t-shirts, tote bags and I have a few on paper. I also have a couple of the stencils.
That's it for now
Bye
(sorry for the long chap)
