We're Back, Baby!
A few days have passed since you woke up. According to Rick, you had passed out after screaming, and you hadn't woken up for a month and a half. According to him, it was the most depressing Christmas the family had ever experienced.
The two of you were back to inventing, as Rick wanted you to rest a bit more before you adventured again. At one point, you had gone home and cleaned your apartment, only to return to the Smith's an hour later. You were staying there until you were all better. The risk of Evil Rick and Morty finding you had completely vanished after that day. Rick had, as you thought, killed Morty after pulling the weapon from your/his lab coat.
Today, you were giving him his lab coat back after cleaning it and patching it up. You removed your objects from the pockets and walked into the garage, clutching the lab coat and one cube tightly. Rick looked up from his desk to see you and smiled, pushing his invention back as he did so. "I missed that," you laughed. "It was boring in here."
Rick sat back in the chair with a sigh, "Yea, well, I saw you eugh kept the dust away, kid." You gave a mini salute, still clutching the cube, "Just doing my job, sir." You handed the lab coat to Rick and set the small box on top of his desk, waiting for him to look at it. When he finally did, you laughed at the blush that crept up his face. He laughed sheepishly, "You figure out how to open it?"
You nodded, "Made me cry," you mumbled. "Summer said 'next' when she was talking to me and that's how we figured it out."
"Hey, you have your pictures, I have mine." Rick set the cube down with a grin. "We're delving into creepy territory here, cap'n." You laughed, pulling your phone out and showing him the pictures you had. "Granted mine weren't taken from a secret camera you didn't know about." You wagged a finger and tucked your phone away, scratching under your bandage. Sometimes the material pinched your stomach and made it itch.
Rick laughed and went back to work, "Get me a screwdriver, would you?" You smiled and walked over to the shelf, grabbing several and setting them on his desk. "You weren't too awfully specific, you know." Rick smiled and shook his head, grabbing the screwdriver he needed.
As it was still late January, you could see snowflakes falling through a window in the garage door. You wandered over and looked outside, folding your arms around your middle as you sighed happily.
"Something on your mind?" Rick called from his seat at the desk. You shook your head, turning to find him staring curiously at you. "Nope, just watching the snow." You smiled and walked back over to the desk. Rick looked back down at the object he was working on while you took the photo cube, running to the other side so you didn't interrupt him.
While he worked, you activated it. It hadn't taken very long for you to figure out how to add photos, attaching the cube to your phone and adding your own pictures of Rick's smile, as well as the few on you smiling with him. Mostly it was of him sleeping, something that made you laugh. You set it down and activated the box, watching as it ran through a slide show instead of you having to say 'next' each time.
"Really?" Rick crouched down next to you, watching the pictures go by. "You took pictures of me sleeping?" He raised a curious brow.
"For your information," you laughed, "Summer took most of these. She woke me up most of the time." Rick chuckled before watching the rest of the photos. When they finished, he shut the cube down and picked it up, smiling at you.
You saw the sparkle in his eyes come back and laughed, "There it is!" Rick shook his head and stood, helping you up from the ground. He held your hand a little longer than normal after you stood before he quickly walked back to his desk. He set the cube down and sat in his desk chair, spinning in a circle.
"You know," you leaned on the back of the chair, stopping it from spinning, "we should totally go on an adventure today. I think I'm good."
Rick looked over his shoulder at you with a skeptical glance. "Pleeeease?" You whined. Rick rolled his eyes and stood with a smile, walking to the cruiser without a word. You laughed and ran over, adjusting your t-shirt around the bandages and grabbing your own lab coat. The necklace now just had the blue glitter, after you'd given Rick his key back.
You climbed happily into the passenger seat as Rick took driver's, bouncing happily when he started the cruiser up and opened the garage door. He took off and you were quickly surrounded by the vast expanse of space, never appearing any less amazing than the first time you'd seen it.
"We're baaack!" You sang with a laugh. Rick rolled his eyes once again with another classic grin, "That's going in the cube." You giggled and stared out the window, watching the planets pass as you thought.
Does the cube mean something? Is it more than just because he likes spending time with me? I can't believe I have him back. It's so.. I can't describe this feeling, but I enjoy it. His smile, his sparkling eyes, I enjoy the feeling. Maybe I should tell him.
Nah, he'd probably not think the same thing. Maybe I should just pretend, just enjoy having him. Besides, I don't want to tell somebody 'hey, I don't know what it is, but you make me feel amazing and I would prefer if you didn't leave me'. I'm not looking for anything like that.
"You alright?" You turned to Rick, releasing your bottom lip as you'd been chewing on it thoughtfully. "Yep, just thinking about stuff." Rick gave a peculiar glance before shaking his head and looking back out the window, appearing as thoughtful as you were. You smiled as you watched his reflection in the window, occasionally catching him stealing glances at you with a light smile.
Eventually, you came to a red and white planet, the ground appearing ridiculously bright as Rick brought you in for a landing. You blinked several times, trying to adjust to it with an annoyed grunt. "That shit's brighter than my future," you grumbled. Rick chuckled and hopped out of the cruiser, "Come on, kid. Here's your adventure." You climbed out, trying not to look directly at the ground, "What are we doing?"
"We're going to have fun. That's all." Rick led you to an open area that looked like a bar and you smiled, "Aw yee!" Rick laughed and led you up to the bar. There was what could only be described as, and actually was, a hamster in a butt, polishing glasses and wandering over to you. You giggled lightly before settling down, not wanting to offend the creature. Rick motioned for him to bring just two beers, gladly taking them from the creature and handing one back to you.
"Here's today's relaxing adventure, kid." Rick chuckled and took a long drink. You did the same, happily enjoying the alcohol.
"Alright, I have to ask," you stopped the bartender as he walked by. He gave you a smile. "Are you offended when people ask about your... current situation, I guess?" The bartender gave a dismissive wave, "Not at all."
"Alright, because I'm just wondering if that's actually comfortable for you." The bartender smiled and nodded, "I live here. It's fairly comfortable. Thank you for being polite with your asking, sir." You nodded, "No problem, thanks for answering."
Rick laughed next to you and you looked over at him. "I," you announced, "was being polite. Don't you go laughing at me, or I'll challenge you." You raised a brow and watched as Rick gave you an amused smirk. "What's the challenge?" He mocked, setting his now empty bottle on the bar.
"So you're accepting? Because it's more fun when you accept and don't know what it is." Rick thought for a minute before nodding, "Alright. Now what is it?"
"Ever done a blow job shot?"
As the bartender prepared the two shots for you, you noticed Rick watching with honest amusement. "I used to do this all the time, it's really weird but fun." The bartender nodded, "Folks come in here and do them a lot." He pushed one shot towards you, "You obviously know how it's done, kid. Show him."
You smiled, "Got it, honey-bear." You placed your hands behind your back and locked your fingers together, finding Rick watching you with honest curiosity. You smirked before leaning down and grabbing the glass with your mouth, balancing it and stopping it from wobbling as you pulled your head up, downing the shot. You set the glass back down on the bar, now empty, and pulled your hands from behind your back. "That's a blow job shot. Your turn."
Rick laughed momentarily before he repeated your actions, though a little more clumsily. "See? They're fun!" Rick smiled and nodded, "Yea, but I'll stick to eugh regular shots, kid. You can have as many of those as you want, I'll take tequila."
"I thought you were driving?" Rick laughed, "I think the autopilot can handle it."
"Make sure you can still give the command, boss." Laughing, you waited for the bartender to pour you each your shots.
