Give Him My Affection.

Throughout the rest of the day, you tried your damnedest to forget what was to come tomorrow. You spent time making lunch with Rick, something neither of you found to be as awkward as you had expected. Instead, the two of you worked together as though it were a prepared dance, moving in sync and knowing what the other was doing before you had to ask. That was what you found to be the most calming throughout the day. When you'd finished and had a nice laugh about how easily that came to you, Rick had pulled you to the couch to watch a movie.

About halfway through, you absentmindedly leaned on Rick as he had his arm resting on the back of the couch. You glanced up to make sure he was fine with it once you realized what you were doing, and smiled when he seemed fine with it. He had even brought his arm down and laid it on you as you pulled your legs up onto the couch and laid comfortably on him.

The family was only mildly confused as they went about their days, knowing that you two tended to be more affectionate than most work partners. You were especially glad that they never asked if there was anything more there.

You would personally describe what you had with Rick as a flirtationship. You were slightly more than just friends, yet you'd never actually fooled around, and you weren't doing anything defined by being in a relationship. You both just kinda sat in the middle.

As the movie continued, Beth wandered through the living room to grab a forgotten soda, smiling down at you two as she passed. Summer had moved by and quickly snapped a photo before you told her to send it to you without Rick noticing. He merely grumbled and asked her to go away. She gave you a thumbs up, assuring you she'd send it so you could add it to the others you'd taken, before walking away with a giggle. You may not be friends with her, but you two did get along.

During the movie, a very romantic, adult scene came up. You watched with a small smile, remembering what it felt like to treat sex like something sacred instead of just a way to cope, how it felt to actually 'make love' as so many put it, instead of fooling around with somebody you never planned on sticking around with. At this point, Rick had begun to rub your side absentmindedly, watching intently as you glanced up to gauge his reaction.

You gave a small 'aw' when the actors had confessed their feelings for one another before giving themselves completely to their partners, finding it cute. You couldn't help but blush slightly at the actual sexual actions on screen, something you'd always done. Sure, you could do it no problem, but watching it just had some weird effect on you different than actually participating.

When the movie had finally ended, you sat up and stretched out, watching as Rick stood and moved towards the disc reader. "Another?" You nodded with a smile, glancing over at the arrangement. "Pick something scary."

You watched as Rick shrugged and moved through the assortment, finally selecting a film and popping it into the reader. When he returned, you resumed your position, laying on him as you watched the cheesy horror film opening.

Nearly halfway through the movie, you were laughing at a dumb woman who hadn't taken the full two minutes she had to stand and run away, watching as she was caught. "It's not like he was sprinting at her or anything. She coulda gotten out of there and survived if she just stood." Rick laughed, agreeing with you.

The jump scares hadn't really gotten either of you as you sat straight-faced through the entire film. You had both spent the time critiquing the cliche murder scenes, commenting on how they could've, and should've, used less blood in some scenes and really worked on their jump scare buildups.

Rick glanced down at your phone on the table near the arm of the couch, pressing the home button and checking the time. "Well, kid, wanna go out to eat? There's a nice off-planet place I know of." You smiled and sat up, "Sure."

Once you stood and grabbed your phone, stepping into your shoes as you did so, Rick pulled out his portal gun, pulling you through the dimensional doorway. You both wound up outside of a nice looking restaurant, though you hadn't caught the name.

Once inside, you found yourself in a familiar, small diner. You knew you'd been here before, with the other Rick, but you couldn't remember how that had gone. As you followed Rick to a table, you smiled, taking in the quaint restaurant.

A timid man came up and placed menus down in front of you and Rick. "H-Hi, I'm M-Marvin, I'll be your s-s-server tonight. What can I get for you to d-d-drink?" He didn't meet your gaze, nor Rick's. You smiled softly, "Sweet tea, please." He awkwardly scribbled down your drink before motioning for Rick to order. "Coke, please. Regular, not cherry." Marvin smiled at the both of you before hurrying off.

"Get whatever you want, kid. It's my treat this time." You laughed, remembering when you had been the one to take him out. "Well, you didn't say the magic word, so technically..." you trailed off. Rick rolled his eyes as he smiled, "Dibs."

"There ya go. I knew you were clever." You laughed before picking your menu up, occasionally catching Rick looking over at you. On one such occasion, you crossed your eyes and stuck out your tongue, making Rick laugh. Once you'd settled on what you wanted, you folded the menu and set it on the edge of your table. Just as Rick had done the same, Marvin returned, nervously placing your drink in front of you. "A-Are you r-ready, or would you like a-a-a few more minutes?"

You both shook your heads, Rick pointing to you, "You go ahead and go first." You smiled before turning to Marvin, "I'll have a cheeseburger with loaded mashed potatoes, please." Marvin scratched your order down onto the paper and anxiously turned to Rick, "A-And you?"

"Just the BLT and fries, please." Marvin nodded and gathered your menus before walking away. You took a sip from your tea and  grabbed your phone, checking for any messages. You glanced out the window near your table and found little white flecks falling to the ground. "It's snowing here!" You pointed excitedly out the window, grinning. Rick looked as well before smiling, though his eyes didn't sparkle the same. He chuckled softly before sitting back in his seat. You stared out the window, watching, "I didn't think it snowed on other planets!"

"This one is very similar to Earth. I think eugh that means it's snowing back home, too." You bounced in your seat excitedly, "That's awesome!" You looked back to find Rick lost in thought, his hands folded beneath his chin as he stared at the table, furrowing his brow. "What's up? You've been out of it since we got here."

Rick ran a hand through his hair and sighed before smiling at you, "Nothing's wrong, just been a lot going on is eugh is all." There was still nothing in his eyes as he smiled at you.

You huffed and folded your arms, "I know something's wrong." Rick sighed, "What do you mean, kid?"

You rolled your eyes, "You've been all zoned out and thoughtful. And you can smile all you want, but I know you don't mean it." Rick arched a brow at you, "What do you mean?"

"I mean you don't mean your smile. Usually, you get this little sparkle in your eyes, you know? That's how I know you mean it. But, all night, it's just been kinda dead eyes, you get it? I dunno, I just notice these things, I guess. But there's something bothering you." You rotated the straw in your drink, watching the ice cubes swirl around. Rick chuckled lightly, "You're saying you know something's up because you don't see something in my eyes, kid?"

"Dude, that's exactly what I'm saying! You gotta be happy, not all grouchy. Gonna start calling you Oscar, you know."

Rick looked thoughtful again for a moment before smiling at you. This time, you saw the sparkle. "That's amazing, kid." He laughed, "You noticing all these things, just amazing." You smiled, "See? There it is. That's a real smile." Rick laughed lightly, leaning forward and placing his elbows on the table.

You smiled softly and sighed, stirring your drink absentmindedly again as you watched the ice cubes swirl. As they clinked together, Marvin walked out, shakily placing your plates down on the table. You smiled up at him as he stuttered, "D-Do you need any-anything else, f-folks?" He gave you an anxious smile back before looking away, pink tinting his cheeks. "I'm all  good here." Rick nodded in agreement before Marvin wandered off.

"Am I a scary person or something? I swear, all these folks can't keep eye contact with me before they're looking away." You stared down at your plate. "I honestly think you just attract eugh many people. He was nervous, not scared."

"Huh, that's new." Rick scoffed, "Didn't you think so? You made him blush, and the waiter at the last diner straight up gave you his number. You aren't scary, believe me. You eugh just attract very many people, kid, and it makes them nervous." You smiled up at Rick after a moment, "Aw, gee, nice to see somebody thinks so." You laughed as you went about enjoying your dinner.

"You do. There's just something about you that draws people in." Rick smiled at you again before he started picking at his fries.

Throughout your meal, you and Rick had small conversation, occasionally circulating around the shy waiter when he'd stop by to fill your drinks. Rick continued to point out that he was a classic example of an open book with his actions, while there were some people in the diner that were better at hiding it. You had chuckled at that, smiling over at Rick and watching him smile back.

As you pushed your plate back, finally done, you checked your phone again, finding a message from Summer.

*SUMMER*
So cute! [Image]

You opened the picture and found the one of you laying on Rick with his arm thrown over you, though he was smiling down at you while you looked at the tv. You giggled at that, holding the phone up to show Rick. "Look at that. Summer could be a pro photographer." You laughed, watching Rick stare at the photo for a moment and smile. He shook his head before pushing his plate back as well with a chuckle.

"Do you wanna get ice cream or anything while we're still here?" You tucked your phone away and glanced back over at Rick, "If you're fine with it. I'm fine either way." Rick leaned over and grabbed the dessert menu, handing it over to you, "Yea, it's fine. Go ahead, get whatever." With a smile, you glanced over the menu for a  bit.

"Do you want to share a banana split?" You peered up at Rick, slightly lowering the dessert menu. He nodded, "Sure, if that's what you wanna do."

"Ayyy." You put the small menu back in its place. Marvin wandered over, "C-Can I get yo-you anything else?" He gathered your plates and Rick nodded, "Yea, can we get a banana split?" Marvin nodded, stacking your plates and walking off, "I'll b-be back with yo-you're order."

"He likes you," Rick commented, sipping at his half-empty coke. "Aw, gee, boss, you're embarrassing me, here." You laughed, "Ain't nobody wanna piece of dis. Nobody can handle it." You snapped your fingers in a 'z' giving your sassiest face, making Rick toss his head back and laugh. "You eugh definitely are a wild one, (Y/N)."

"Mhmm, you know it, honey-boo." You smirked, folding your arms and leaning back in your seat. You stared out the window, watching the snow fall on this foreign planet. It was really wonderful. The planet itself was blue, a marvelous pale shade, while the sky was almost green with just a hint of blue. The clouds that you would normally expect to be dark-grey with a winter storm were an extremely vibrant violet. It was calming, the way these colors blended together, altered only slightly by the pale white flecks falling from the sky.

The nervous clatter near you drew you from your peaceful thoughts as you turned to find Marvin setting a bowl between you and Rick, handing you each a spoon. "En-Enjoy." He gave a weak smile, which you returned with one of your own before watching him blush again and run off. "Am I just a gay magnet? Geez." You giggled, grabbing your spoon. "Never gonna get used to that, am I?"

Rick smiled, "You never eugh can get used to it." You laughed, scooping some ice cream up and finding that it tasted vastly different from the ice cream on earth. Your eyes widened once you tasted it, "Holy shit, that's great."

When the two of you had finished, after countless laughs from Rick at your reaction to the different flavors in a single scoop, you waited for Marvin to return, having already asked for the bill. "Isn't it pretty outside?" You looked out the window, "I love when the snow falls like that. I hate when it's a big, windy storm, but, when it just flutters down, piece by piece, it's just the most amazing thing ever. Like one of those cheesy romance films, when the two reconnect in the snow after however long. I've heard it's better than a kiss in the rain." You laughed, "Too lovey, (Y/N), tone it back some. Sometimes the sentimental bits of me get out, gotta reel it in."

"Sometimes I question your sanity," Rick laughed. "You talk eugh like you're a buncha different people a lot. But you're right. It does look nice, falling like that. Guess I never took the time eugh to notice."

"All it takes is one itty-bitty queen to come in and change everything," you laughed. "You're welcome, by the way."

"Yea," Rick chuckled, "that's all it takes."
