Shubman's POV – The Next Morning
I woke up to the soft hum of Shobhana's breathing beside me. The sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting a warm glow on the room.
She was wrapped in the sheets, her hair spread out like a wild halo, her body curled into a ball beside me. It looked like she was still in dreamland.
I, however, was wide awake, my thoughts racing faster than a bullet train.
I couldn't help but smile, replaying last night in my head. The way she looked at me, that smile, her laughter—it was all a bit too perfect.
We'd fought, we'd broken up, and we'd stayed away from each other for a while. But now? We were back to where we belonged.
I slid out of bed as quietly as possible, hoping not to disturb her, and grabbed my phone. I had one person I really needed to talk to about all this.
I hit the contact for Ishan and waited for him to pick up.
"Yo, Shubster!" Ishan's voice blasted through the phone, and I could practically hear the grin on his face. "What's up, bro?"
"Hey, Ishan," I muttered, trying to keep my voice down, though I was definitely feeling more energized than I should be this early.
"I need to tell you something."
"Uh oh, what did you do this time?" he teased. "Got yourself into another love triangle or something?"
I let out a soft chuckle, glancing back at Shobhana, who was still nestled under the sheets, completely unaware of the chaos that was about to unfold in my conversation.
"No, no, man. It's nothing like that," I said, my voice turning serious, though there was a giddy undertone that I couldn't control. "I—uh—we're back together."
I heard a sharp intake of breath from Ishan on the other end. "Wait, what? You mean... you and Shobhana?" he asked, almost sounding too shocked for someone who already knew I'd been hopelessly in love with her since forever.
"Yeah, man," I said, leaning back against the wall, trying not to wake her up with the excitement in my voice. "We've been back together for a month now."
There was a brief pause on the other end, and then Ishan finally spoke, the disbelief in his voice clear. "A MONTH? And you didn't tell me? What, you were waiting for the right moment to drop the bombshell, huh? Did you guys even, like, talk about it, or was this just, like, an accidental hookup?"
"Oh, we talked about it," I muttered under my breath, glancing at Shobhana again, her skin glowing in the morning light.
"We sorted things out. Things are good now. We've... mended stuff."
Ishan let out a loud, exaggerated sigh that I could hear over the phone. "Okay, okay, I'm happy for you, man. I'm not that mad. But you've gotta fill me in on the juicy details. How did it happen?"
I swallowed, feeling my cheeks heat up as I remembered last night's chaos. "Uh, it was... a lot. We had a few heart-to-heart conversations. And then, well, let's just say, things escalated a little. You know... intimately."
I heard Ishan's laughter explode through the phone. "Wait, you're telling me—you two—actually did the deed? After all the drama and fighting?" he cackled. "Man, I'm not sure whether to congratulate you or offer you my condolences. That's some next-level emotional gymnastics."
I rolled my eyes, even though I was smiling. "You have no idea. It was... well, it was amazing."
I paused, glancing at Shobhana, her lips parted slightly as she slept, her body still so close to the warmth of mine.
I had to fight the overwhelming urge to crawl back into bed with her and kiss every inch of her skin. But no, I had to focus.
"I never knew what I was missing until I had her back in my life, Ishan. It's like everything just clicked, you know? I can't imagine being without her."
"Ohhhh," Ishan drawled, his tone suddenly serious. "You're getting all sappy on me now, huh? My boy's finally grown up. Well, I'm happy for you, bro. Seriously. I'm glad you got your girl back."
"Well, it wasn't just me," I said, chuckling to myself as I tried to keep it together.
"She... uh, she's been really patient with me. You know, for all my stupid mistakes."
Just as I said that, I heard Shobhana stir in bed, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she rolled over. She was waking up, and the heat in the room suddenly spiked.
I lowered my voice to a whisper. "Yo, I gotta go, man. She's waking up."
"Oh, I get it, lovebird," Ishan said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Go make sure she doesn't get too comfortable in bed, huh?"
I groaned, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Okay, stop it, Ishan. You're embarrassing me."
"Yeah, yeah," Ishan said, laughing. "You're still my boy, but seriously, you're like a walking romance novel now. Call me later when you're alone again, okay?"
"Alright, bro. Later."
I ended the call and tossed my phone on the counter, only to feel an overwhelming surge of affection for the girl sleeping beside me.
She had that innocent look on her face, her lips slightly parted, her body curled under the blankets like a goddess—my goddess.
I slowly crawled back into bed, careful not to jostle her too much. She didn't even flinch, but as soon as I rested my head on the pillow beside hers, she murmured, "Shubi, you still here?"
I smiled to myself, sliding an arm around her waist.
"Always, baby," I whispered.
She snuggled closer, her breath soft against my skin, the warmth of her body already starting to pull me back into the dreamy haze.
But I couldn't help but think about how much I loved her—the way she smelled, the way she laughed, the way she looked at me like she was the luckiest girl in the world. And yeah, it was chaotic, but it was our chaos.
I had to admit, I wouldn't change a single thing.
Shobhana's POV – Half-Asleep Thoughts
I slowly woke up to the feeling of Shubman's arm around my waist, his breath warm against my neck. My skin tingled, and I couldn't help but smile as I shifted closer to him. Even in the early morning, his presence had a way of calming me.
"Morning, baby," I mumbled, burying my face in his chest.
"Morning, sweetheart," he murmured, pulling me closer. "How'd you sleep?"
I thought for a second. "Better now," I said, my lips curling into a sleepy grin. "I missed you, Shubi."
His hand gently cupped my cheek, and I could feel him studying me with that intense gaze of his. "I'm never going anywhere, babe," he whispered.
I let out a soft sigh, my heart swelling. But then, a mischievous thought crossed my mind. I couldn't resist.
"You know, we did just make up last night... I think it's time for a repeat performance."
His breath hitched, and I could practically feel the heat rise in his body. "Oh, don't tease me, baby," he said, his voice low, the familiar seductive tone creeping in.
I grinned, rolling on top of him, straddling his hips. "Tease you? I'm just getting started, Shubi," I purred, leaning down to press my lips to his neck.
And just like that, the chaos continued.
