▌PAIN RANG THROUGH THE GIRLS head as she peeled her eyes open. she was slumped over, her hands, feet and waist tied against a large chair.

she looked rough, her hair was messy, she had beats and bruises around her body as she weakly tried to pull out of the grasp.

her head weakly hung low, she watched her chest rise up and down in rapid and deep breaths. her eyelashes fluttered as she glanced around the room, the blurriness of her vision slowly being blinked away.

she tried to make any noise with her throat, but failed miserably as nothing came out. her throat felt dry as a desert, like sand paper scratching up against itself.

looking around the area infront of her, she spotted a variety of goods scattered along the table. but she failed to make out what most of them were due to the shadows overtaking them all.

maeve watched as jinx stood beside the table, a lighter flung into the air as it skidded over multiple candles that sat on the table, watching light up the area with scary accuracy.

she turned to her right to see silco, he was slumped over, his breath steady as he was passed out against the chair. he was also tied up, just like she was.

then, she turned to her left. and with all the energy she had, her eyes widened. vi sat with a confused and worried look, "vi?" maeve weakly said.

"oh, mae. are you okay?" she breathed. her eyes scanned over the girl, dragging her gaze across each new bruise, noticing how maeve barely showed any emotion.

mae didn't respond to the girl. vi's eyes now moved to the girls face, she noticed how the colour drained out of her, how she wasn't that soft tan anymore, instead she was ghostly white.

vi felt an intense amount of guilt set in her heart, the fact vi never noticed how drained maeve was getting with everything going on, she felt like shit for not being there.

and now on top of it, they've been kidnapped by their own family. and no one knows why, and because of it, both vi and maeve feel guilty for it.

jinx spoke up, "he took everything from us." she hinted towards silco, "right here, he stabbed vander in the back. just like he planned to do with me."

maeves eyes followed the girl, watching her stalky pale body luminance against the candle lights. her walk was slow, and her gaze was razor-sharp.

"all the time saying you both abandoned me when he knew the truth." jinx stared into silco's soul with quiet rage, her tone was calm while her demeanour was aggressive.

"liar." she turned towards vi before humming. "we're missing someone!" she walked a few feet away, sliding her finger tips against the back of vi's chair.

vi's eyes flicked over to the table, noticing the life sized doll of mylo that sat opposite to maeve, sat next to it was a smaller sized doll of claggor that hung against the chair.

maeve followed vi's gaze, landing it on the small stuffed bunny. it was made out of patchwork fabric, two small plastic eyes stared back into vi's.

maeve started to remember everything, memories flood back from many years ago and memories flooded back from a few hours ago.

maeve weakly lifted her head up some more, leaning it against the back of the chair as she finally shared a look with vi. then her ears perked up as she listened to silco mumble against the nozzle around his mouth after he had awoken.

jinx walked back, the hextech gauntlets sat on her hands, decorated with the classic jinx flair. different coloured paints sat on the knuckles and metal plating.

a silver platter was dropped onto the table with a slam, then she shook off the gauntlets and leant against the table. her hand then landed on the top of the bowl, waiting for it to being taken off.

"i paid your enforcer babe a visit this morning." jinx teased vi as she looked over to her. maeve only had one name ring inside her head, caitlyn.

vi looked in horror as jinx hovered the bowl over the platter. "what did you do?" she asked cautiously, "shes fucking crazy, i don't know what you'd expect." maeve said weakly, each word causing her breaths to het heavier.

"shut up, maeve! i made her a snack" she started to lift up the bowl, vi watched with terror, her shaky breaths bouncing off of the walls.

jinx bit her lip as she watched with entertainment, she swung it slightly before ripping it off of the plate. "no!" vi yelled out. immediately turning her head away.

after a moment, jinx snickers, throwing the metal dome behind her with a loud clang, "sheesh! im not that crazy."

maeve felt her strength regrowing in her body, her head turning back to see a frosted cupcake, the blue hextech gemstone sitting atop of it as if it were a cherry.

"wouldn't expect anything less from you." maeves words were still breathy and weak as she shook her head slightly, watching as jinx rolled her eyes and started to disappear behind vi with a swing of her hips.

maeves eyes were low as her and vi shared a look, "im sorry." maeve shook her head, noticing herself become drowsier and drowsier with each given second.

vi shook her head, "no, no, stop its okay." she panicked with every word she spoke. maeves eyes started to close until immediately widening as she heard the creaky noise of wheels against the rotten wood underneath them.

jinx rolled out a wheelchair with none other than caitlyn kiramman strapped against it. a metal mask was strapped to her face, muffling her the terrified noises she wanted to let out. the mask was decorated with pink and blue neon scribbles.

"powder! leave them out of this." vi screamed, watching caitlyn stare at vi in absolute horrors. her eyes were filled with tears, almost begging vi with her eyes to make something happen.

"cait..." maeve said with a breathy gasp, "what happened to you? why are you doing this?" maeve looked up at jinx, watching her grow a small, evil smile.

"gosh, mae, i thought you would've learned to watch your mouth by now." jinx shook her head as she started to lean against the wheelchair caitlyn was strapped too.

maeve shook her head, disbelief running through her body as she watched jinx go beyond what maeve ever imagined she could ever go.

jinx pushed herself off of where she had been leaning.

caitlyn jolted forward with fear, her eyes watching jinx walk away. maeve felt her heart shatter for the traumatised girl, they've had their differences, but nothing will ever make maeve think she deserves any of this.

"now, where should i sit?" jinx asked, her gaze flicking between two labeled chairs. one was decorated with pastel scribbles, an innocently painted name planted on it. 'powder'

while the other one was dark, neon coloured doodles sitting on it with the bold word 'jinx' planted on it. implying the person she was now, was a lot more different and dark.

vi's eyes glanced over to the chair that had the name powder on it. which jinx noticed, her finger tips gliding against the wood vi was forcibly sat on.

"that's your choice really. not silco's, not maeves, yours." jinx pouted as she came up close to her sisters face, planted her small gun, pow-pow, into her bandaged hands.

"make her go away. please." jinx pleaded, gesturing towards caitlyn. "send her on her way and— and you can have powder back."

jinx's voice sounded innocent. caitlyn let out a loud groan, catching everyones attention as she pleaded with her eyes. her gaze flickering between jinx and vi for a moment.

vi stuttered, looking at maeve who just slightly shook her head. vi's eyes filled with tears as she spoke up to her sister, "i can't."

jinx scoffed as vi looked away, maeve and caitlyn both let out a small huff of relief. the british girls breaths started getting heavier as jinx's face washed over with anger and disbelief.

she snatched her gun out of vi's hands, placing her finger on the trigger as she raised it towards caitlyns head. "no! powder, listen." vi's breaths got heavier with panic as she started to plead.

"we— we can just go. we'll leave and never come back." she breathed, maeve grew confused, whether or not she was talking about caitlyn or jinx. or even herself.

vi's body was lurched forward, her heart on her sleeve as she begged and begged for mercy. trying to save anyone she could in the situation.

but jinx spoke up with an innocent and sad tone, "where would we go?" she turned her eyes towards the table infront of her, the voices started to haunt jinx. causing jinx to panic and shake her head.

"no, no, no. she's not saying that." she cried out, now aiming her gun towards the mylo and claggor dolls that sat without breath at the table.

maeve immediately started to panic as she noticed the gun starting to aim in her direction.

"i know. i know how it is, i know you know i do. i know how everything circles around your head into chaos, the way nothing ever makes sense, as everything laughs at you." maeve pleads, trying to soften jinx's hold.

"but don't let them help you hurt the people who would never hurt you, not intentionally." but that just caused jinx to let out a chuckle.

"never hurt me? never hurt me?" jinx taunted. "you killed me. you did, doll face." she pointed her gun towards maeve, then she flicked it towards vi, "so did you."

jinx chuckled as vi started to try and calm the girl down again. "we'll put this behind us, you'll never have to see him again, powder."

the table heard silco mumble against the muzzle that secured his lips. jinx lowered her gun from vi, turning towards her father figure. "what do you have to say about that?"

she walked over to him, undoing the muzzle that dripped with drool as it came off of his mouth. "her name is jinx! she's lying. you'll be with her a day before she realises you aren't that girl anymore and turns her back on you."

silco's voice was rough and hoarse as he spoke his defensive words. jinx sat for a moment, thinking about each and every word spoken, then bringing pow-pow to her lips, kissing the barrel before letting it lean on her shoulder.

"you aren't lying? you wouldn't lie to me, both of you. not again." jinx turned to face vi, her eyes flicking between the two girls she used to consider her favourite people.

"im not lying. i'm on your side. i promise." vi pleaded, maeve looking at jinx with cold and certain eyes. her gaze now moving onto the table infront of her, starting to become drousy.

what the fuck did jinx do to her?

the loud and harsh sound of the bullet shooting through the air that caused everyone to jump. maeve inspected where the bullet shot, noticing the mylo doll slanted over, its head smashing glass as its head hit the table infront of it.

maeve gulped, swallowing her own spit. her look now moving towards jinx as she breathed heavy breaths. "shut up! we're talking!"

she yelled at the now broken doll, anger flashed in her eyes. "the topsiders offered me everything. independence, a seat at the table. all in return for you. they can all burn."

silco now looked up at the blue haired girl that stood over him, "everyone betrays us, jinx. vander, vi, maeve. they will never understand."

maeve took slow and steady breaths, wiggling her wrists around inside of the tightly wrapped rope. loosening it more and more as she worked her magic.

"they're lying to you, silco. they don't trust you. stop feeding bullshit into her head." a pause lingered in the air as everyones attention was now being payed to the brunette girl.

"i know you, powder. i know everything that you think i don't. i don't care if you've changed, i love you for you, because you'll always be my pow-pow."

tears prickled jinx's eyes as she listened to maeves words, the gun in her hand falling to her side as she took it all in. maeve didn't lie, she knew how everything felt, she was going through the exact same thing.

maeve stared into jinx's bright neon eyes as she looked down slightly, "it's only us. you're my daughter. i'll never forsake you."

maeve felt herself becoming more and more irritated, as if she was going to war with silco. maeve knew jinx needed someone as much as maeve needed someone.

sure, maeve had vi, caitlyn. and as much as she adored the red haired girl, she didn't compare to the little girl she once called her sister. she needed to feel needed, and having jinx by her side would be a benefit for the both of them.

it may have been a bad idea, but she can't loose her too. she already lost vi the night before, she lost cait despite them barely being friends. she lost both her parents and she lost herself. jinx was the one person who knew what she was going through, and honestly, maeve needed it.

jinx's gun began to slip out from her fingertips, but suddenly, caitlyns harsh accent sliced through the thick tension. "drop the gun!"

maeve closes her eyes tightly with frustration. fuck sake. if maeve could, she'd throw her hands in the air.

jinx's grip around pow-pow tightened as let out an angered exhale. her eyes forwarding to the wheelchair where caitlyn had escaped from, the broken glass scattered along the floor.

caitlyn clutched around jinx's machine gun, her fingers on the trigger as she faced it towards the youngest girl. "no. please." vi whispered underneath her breath.

"vi. your okay, breath." maeve knew how vi was about to get, she was about to panic. and despite everything, maeve tried to help in the best way she could under the circumstances.

vi glanced at the girl, nodding slightly before the two of them averted to the scene infront of them. jinx let out a small scoff, her grip on pow-pow now loosening as she let it swing between her fingers.

jinx went to shoot towards caitlyn, but the girl showed no fear, starting to shoot at jinx at the same time. both vi and maeves hearts pound in their ears and against their chests as they both stare at the two enemies. but, to their relief, caitlyn had only aimed at the side. a warning shot, yet no less of a threat. "no! stop!" vi exclaimed, jinx threw her hands up around her head, shielding it.

"drop, the gun." caitlyn repeated herself. maeve looked between the two, fear coursing through her body as she let out heavy breaths.

caitlyn went to shoot again after realising jinx wasn't listening, but vi's voice stopped her. "wait! she's my sister." she pleaded.

jinx held her hands up in defence, her eyes flicked towards vi before turning her attention back to the threat infront of her.

"step down, caitlyn. no ones gonna end up alive if this happens." maeve pleaded, but caitlyn showed no remorse, her eyes fixated on jinx while the machine gun stood tall against jinx.

"she's too far gone." caitlyn spoke loudly, jinx let out a small giggle as she set her gun down beside silco on the table. she stepped back away from the table, her hands up in defence as child like innocence casted over her features.

a shaky breath fell from maeves mouth, knowing things were not about to go well. "caitlyn, stop it before everything becomes worse." her voice was soft as she spoke.

but it was too late.

silco looked intrigued as he watched it go down, but maeve and vi were terrified. not only for their own lives but for the two people they loved.

caitlyns gaze moved away from jinx for a moment, "no, no, no." vi whispered again, trying to stop it like maeve was doing just a moment before.

but like a ticking time bomb, every second that passed by, jinx's innocent front soon turned murderous. her eyes glared a bright neon purple as shimmer coursed through her body.

jinx leaped forward towards caitlyn, going to rip her beloved machine gun from the fearless girls hands. jinx spun in a circle, slamming the end of the gun into caitlyns chin.

causing her to go flying, slamming her body onto the floor as darkness took over caitlyn. vi screamed out, but it was far too late.

maeve watched as hatred started to boil in her blood, she reached out with the little strength she had. grabbing ahold of the large shard of glass right infront of her.

she let out a small grunt as she pulled herself as forward as she could go. "you see, now finish it." silco's words echoed against their heads, setting off everything jinx had been bottling up.

"damn it! powder, wake up!" vi's words shouted into the night sky, jinx looked around in a panic. the voices cutting into her skull as she hyperventilated.

"remember who you are! i know you remember!" vi shook against her chair as she shouted at her sister. jinx let out small grunts as she looked around the ground, everything bottling in her head, waiting for her to burst.

"picture mylo! claggor! vander! maeve! dad! mom! me!" vi continued shouted towards her as silco grew angrier and angrier, a shouting match against vi and silco towards jinx broke out.

jinx cried out, "stop! stop! stop! no!" her hands clutched her head with desperation. everything breaking out and causing her to break down with complete anger.

"shut up! you aren't helping, nothing is helping!" maeve shouted, her voice angered as she cocked her head towards the two on seperate ends of the table.

maeve watched as silco reached for jinx's disregarded gun that sat on the table. she felt everything around her stop, her heart beating against her chest as she saw it aim it towards vi's skull.

but vi was to busy trying to help her sister to even notice. without hesitation, maeve easily slit through the rope she was tied onto, immediately untangling herself and leaping forward towards silco.

he shoots, missing an inch off of vi's head as maeve punched him in the throat. "don't mess with her. don't fucking touch my family." she sent another punch to the helpless mans face.

suddenly she heard the sounds of jinx's machine going off, bullets flew throughout the area, vi ducked against her seat as maeve flew off of silco.

silco's eyes widen with agony, panting filled the room from everyones mouths. a small gasp leaving maeves mouth as she made eye contact with the older man.

the chair he was sat on spun around, blood falling from his torso as he failed to breath, instead choking on the blood that filled his lungs.

he let out erratic breaths, letting the gun drop from his hand as blood dripped on it. jinx's sudden sobs filled the room, while maeve dragged herself across the wooden floor.

"no... oh. oh, no, no, no." jinx let out as she ran straight for the man, getting down on her knees as her hands caressed his cheeks.

maeve watched the emotional scene infront of her, silco's words causing jinx to break out with more and more sobs.

her hand grasped onto the glass shard, placing it on the rope that held vi. slicing it until it broke the girl free, as she did, her eyes flicked towards jinx, before becoming fixated on her.

jinx patted the metal seat with her small gun that read, 'jinx' on it with bold letters. her eyes were cold as she spun around it, staring at it before sitting against it.

her arms sat on the arm rests as she looked through her eyelashes towards the two girls. "i thought maybe you both could love me like you used to. even though i'm... different."

the two girls eyes prickled with tears, but maeve couldn't watch any longer. the sound of her voice tuning from her eats as she worked against vi's ropes.

maeve knew she would never see jinx the same ever again, hatred flooded her body as she thought about it all.

jinx didn't just change. she became someone else, not a single ounce of 'powder' stuck in her body as she continued to do manic things.

maeve wanted her revenge, and she wanted it bad. jinx killed the person maeve once was, so did vi, they all did. jinx knew what was happening in those rooms during the few months of the testings, and she never once stopped it.

she watched over maeve ruin herself, and instead laughed about it. ripping maeve apart as she soon realised it.

jinx sent the two girls one last look before walking past them, disappearing into the shadows with the small gem stone in her hand.

as maeve finally broke vi free, her arms immediately wrapped around the brunette girl. holding her close, never seeming to be able to let go.

maeve noticed a sudden pain ringing through the bottom of her stomach. ringing in her ears filled the area as she sort of collapsed right into vi's arms.

a groan falling from her mouth as she placed her hand against it. and as she lifted it back up, she noticed the blood pooling against her palm.

the shimmer was meant to be working, it was meant to heal her quicker. but maeve felt no affect from it, instead just starting to fall from vi's arms and onto her knees.

"maeve... maeve, no." vi fell with her, grabbing ahold of her shoulders.

the brunette felt herself becoming more and more drousy by the second, like it was hard to breath the air that entered her lips.

"vi..." she breathed, "i'm sorry."

"it's okay. its all okay, stay with me, mae. please." the girl pleaded with tear filled eyes, "i can't lose you," she paused for a moment, looking into maeves eyes that started to fill with darkness.

"i love you too much." the bitter sweet words fell from her mouth as maeves vision went black. the darkness overwhelmed her as the last thing she saw was vi.

vi's head fell, landing on her chest as she sobbed into her blood soaked shirt. "please!" she cried out. but there was no reply as maeve layed in vi's arms, her pulse shallow as everything started to stop.

anger grew in vi's body, as she held maeves. she knew she wasn't going to lose her, whether she could help it or not. she wasn't losing the girl she loved again.
