▌SILENT TEARS FELL DOWN THE girls face, the rain falling down from the sky as she walked her way out of the rich city of piltover. her legs walking further and further away from the person she loved most.
she had hurt the one person she had left. and now she's officially alone, once again. her heart genuinely had never felt so heavy as she dragged it away across the cold, wet ground.
her legs felt like jelly below her as she walked, the pain of her freshly made cut stinging through her leg as the salty rain water dripped on it.
she suddenly leaned her back on a brick wall, the rain creasing along her body as she bottled up all and any feelings she had been experiencing, numbing it all out to continue with what she was planning.
she missed when times were simple. when the five familiar kids would do nothing but chase eachother around the last drop, or sneak out late at night and dance in the rain.
sure, things were never truly simple. but nothing felt better then doing things you love with your family, the people who were there for you no matter what.
as she swallowed the rest of her sorrow, she stood back up. taking a deep breath and starting her journey back to where she really belongs. the lanes.
the last drop.
the antagonising memories filled her mind as she set out for the place she once called home.
the dawn was taking over, the sun shining through the large buildings, almost behind drowned out by the amounts of fog that filled the lanes.
her feet treaded quietly against broken glass. she entered through the back way, her eyes landing on multiple different memories.
she spun on her heels, taking it all in as she suddenly felt a presence behind her.
sevika stood tall over the brunette girl, her front only inches away from maeves back.
"everyone's looking for you, y' know? theres a reward for you, whether you're alive or dead. silco's out for your blood." sevika spoke softly, a cigar hanging between her lips as she informed the girl.
"the lanes are my home. whether he runs me our or not," maeve paused in between her words. "not to mention, i was his test subject for a year, maybe he should start being greatful." maeve still hadn't turned to face the woman, instead just continuing to look around.
"maybe, he should be, but once he heard what happened on the bridge, your no longer welcome anywhere near here." sevika growled, her voice smooth as smoke as she spoke.
"when have i ever cared where i am or am not welcomed?" maeve asked, her question serious. sevika hummed, "that was before people wanted your head."
"i remember a time when your loyalty was only ever to the lanes. even with vander in charge, you always protected our people. now your partnered up with some dictator with a screwed vision and broken promises." maeve spoke.
"when zaun was taken over, i wasn't left with much of a choice if i wanted to survive." sevika shrugged.
"you went on and on about how vander was weak, how he didn't want to fight because he knew the consequences. and now look at us all." maeve finally turned to face the woman.
"vanders dead. and your a pawn in silco's game, we all are. he doesn't give two shits if any of us are dead or alive, not while jinx is alive." maeve stepped closer to sevika, both their gazes stabbing into eachother.
sevika paused, "so what are we going to do? take out jinx? take out silco? everything backfires." maeve asked once more.
"heard from a little birdy, the council up top... they'll give us the independence, our freedom. but silco has to hand over jinx. and we both know that'll never happen."
maeve chuckled slightly, "and why should i trust you? for all i know your setting me up to get killed, hand me over to silco and get the bounty for yourself."
"you want silco dead. i want jinx away from silco and we both want zauns freedom. you don't have to trust me, but you have to work with me." sevika explained.
"and how do you think we go about this? got a plan?" maeve asked cautiously, taking sevikas words and thinking for a moment.
"get jinx as far away from silco as possible. everything could and would wash away, getting her back to her old self." maeve didn't believe a single word that fell from her own mouth. jinx would never be powder again, and silco would never stay away from jinx.
but something clicked inside sevikas head, "fuck it up, and i'll have your head hanging off my wall." sevika started to walk away.
"yeah. i have no doubts." maeve let go of the breath she had been holding. she had no idea what she got herself into, nor did she know how she was gonna pull it off with killing silco and getting powder back.
her head rung as she turned around, leading herself down to the basement. the old bunk beds still sat in their original places, dust collecting over it, she brushed her finger tip over the grey dust that surrounded them all.
everything was left how it was years ago, mylo and maeves playing cards flung round the room, claggors old aprons hanging off of a hook, vi's boxing gloves sat on the edge of the bed.
powders drawings still scattered along the wall, different scribbles that made out vi, mylo, claggor, ekko and maeve. vander stood tall in the backround with powder on his shoulder.
maeve smiled as she pulled it off the wall, taking one more quick glance at it then folding it and shoving it into her pocket.
spinning her her heels once more, she heard sevika now speaking to someone, which was maeves sign to immediately leave the building.
she quickly grabbed one of the old hoodies that hung over one of the bunk beds, it was too big for vi when she was younger but now it fits maeve perfectly.
she covered her head with her hood, her heavy boots walking quietly along the wooden floor, doing everything in her power to make sure she isnt loud.
she then stopped once being able to hear the voices. "she disappeared after the surgery. i have no idea where she is." she heard silco sigh, while sevika let out an exhale.
"she'll be fine." sevika sounded obviously annoyed, most likely because of the fact she survived. maeve rolled her eyes, continuing to tread along the floor.
a loud sound of glass crushing underneath her foot made her wince at the sound. silence filled the area as she made sure no one heard her.
"go." she heard silco's voice speak, "fuck." she murmured to herself as she heard the two start to walk towards the noise.
as the steps got closer, she took a breath, immediately starting to make a run for it. sprinting through the rooms, "maeve!" she heard silco's deep, raspy voice yell out.
sevika attempted to chase after her while maeve ran through the back entrance, sevika hot on her trail as she sprinted through the alley way.
her leg burned as she let the adrenaline kick in, slowly getting faster as she huffed the air out of her lungs. sevika started getting furthur and furthur as maeve got quicker.
she let out a loud laugh as she looked behind her to see sevika come to a halt, the distance only growing furthur until maeve was no longer in her view.
the girl turned multiple corners until finally coming to the conclusion that she had lost them. she slowed herself down, leaning against the closest wall and leaning her hands on her knees.
that never gets old. maeve laughed as she looked up to the sky, her breaths heavy as she caught them all back. "suckers." she swallowed.
