Masks

The market place was buzzing with shoppers, bargaining for good deals. The shopkeepers were trying their best to maintain their profits. In the helter-skelter of the shopping complex, a little kid ran to Satyam and asked, "Would you like to buy it?".

Satyam looked below to see the plastic masks that the kid was selling. There were several floral designs and geometric patterns made on a few masks, some masks depicted the faces of Indian gods and goddesses, while some masks were faces of fictional superhero characters. "No thanks.", Satyam told the boy, greeting him with a rustic smile.

"Please take it, Bhaiya (Brother).", the little boy insisted him. So, he bought a Batman mask and handed the boy twenty bucks.

For a while, after the kid had left, Satyam was flipping the mask back and front, over and over again. He was just observing the mask and each of its slightest feature.

While driving back home, he was still lost in his thoughts. That black mask. How beautifully it could cover up the real face of any person out there. Nothing different from reality.

Everyone of us is so pretentious. Some of us pretend to be in pain while some pretend to hide it. Some of us are dying inside but wear a fake smile, while some have love inside but are bound to show hatred. Everyone of us have layers of masks over our imperfectly pretty faces. But, why are we so afraid to reveal our reality when everyone of us is dealing with the same issues? Yes, the same issues.

We always think that the other person might not understand our problem or situation but the reality is that even they are going through the same storms. And, these fake plastic masks will never allow anyone of us to see the real beauty of each other.

Have the courage to put off  your mask and reveal your imperfectly pretty face.
