=TWO=Questioning=
Knock knock knock
"Leave me alone, Patton."
"This is Logan."
"...Oh. Come in, then."
Logan opened the door to Virgil's room with his elbow, carrying a plate of food in each hand. He shut the door with his foot once he was inside and walked over to Virgil, who was seated on his bed. Logan sat down next to him.
"Here, I brought your food up," Logan spoke softly, handing Virgil his plate. Virgil nodded and set it off to the side of the bed, Logan doing the same with his own plate.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about what happened sooner. I assumed you at least knew that there was an episode being filmed."
"Eh... it's okay. What the hell even happened?"
"Janus disguised himself as me, again. Yet it seemed to work this time. He pulled me off-screen with his cane and then took my place. And I know you won't be happy about this part, but I do believe Thomas is listening to him now."
Virgil groaned, rubbing his temples. "I just don't understand how anyone could ever look into that man's eyes and think he was trustworthy. He's literally deceit. That's who he is."
Logan shuffled a tad bit closer to Virgil, and the latter leaned his head on Logan's shoulder. Logan wrapped his arm around Virgil's lower back, leaning his head against Virgil's.
Yes- Logan and Virgil were dating, and had been for some time now. Virgil had been the one to ask Logan out, a couple days after Fitting In was filmed, and they had been dating ever since. They loved each other, though they kept their relationship a secret. They both knew that if the word got out then eventually the Fanders would know and that could be very jarring considering the fact that most people shipped Virgil with Roman and Logan with Patton.
Since they had begun dating, Logan had listened to Virgil rant about Janus many times. Logan tried not to create too much of a bias against him in his head, though. He often pretended not to like him around Virgil just out of fear for what Virgil might think if he knew Logan didn't hate Janus with every fiber of his being. Logan did notice that Janus was a good mental-health advocate, so he kept his opinions neutral. Also, the concepts of good and bad were arguably meaningless since you could assign any preferred characteristics to either term.
So maybe Janus was only evil in Virgil's eyes and no one else's. Or he could just be evil. Who knew?
"I'm sorry this is so stressful for you," Logan rubbed Virgil's back.
"He literally impersonated Patton and you yet everyone else seems to now think that he's perfect. He's just trying to manipulate Thomas into trusting him. Once Thomas trusts him, I don't even know what he might do- he could make us all into dark sides. Make us all worse versions of ourselves. Everyone with the dark sides are evil, and that is that."
The concepts of good and bad are arguably meaningless.
Virgil continued to rant, but that phrase for some reason stuck itself in Logan's mind. He had always believed that, and had said it out loud back in Can Lying be Good? even, but he wasn't sure why it was suddenly the only thing he could think about.
Was his mind trying to tell him that Virgil was wrong? Maybe he was. Logan had never had a full conversation with any of the dark sides so he wasn't truly sure what to think. Though, Virgil had literally been a with them for a very long time so maybe his opinions were the most valid on the subject. But was his hatred the result of pure spite or something horrible they did to him? Possibly both?
"...and, yeah. All in all, they're all just horrible idiots, you know?"
"Right..."
Logan realized he had dazed out during Virgil's entire rant. Was he a hypocrite for being angry that no one listens to him?
"Damn, that rant kinda tired me out," Virgil chuckled. Logan let out a small sigh and pulled his plate of food into his lap.
"You should sleep soon, it is a bit late. But finish your dinner first."
"Can you stay in here tonight?"
"Sure. Tomorrow is Sunday so I don't believe I'll have to get out of bed too early."
"Great."
Both brought their heads up and Logan removed his arm from around Virgil. They began eating.
"So, what else happened during that episode? What's it even gonna be called?" Virgil asked between bites of food.
"I believe they're naming it Putting Others First. And I'm not sure much what else happened, I didn't bother to go ask around once it was over. From the looks of it, though, Thomas had second thoughts about going to the wedding. It seemed like it was basically a part two episode of Selfishness v. Selflessness. But during the times I was there no one was listening to me so I didn't bother to chime in that much."
"Hmm. That sucks."
"What specifically?"
"All of it."
"I suppose you're correct."
"Do you know about anything that could have happened while you weren't there?"
"I'm not sure. Though I got a glimpse of the living room at one point and apparently Patton had turned into a giant frog?"
"...Jeez, okay."
The two chatted as they finished up dinner, moving on from talking about the episode pretty quickly since neither knew much about what had happened. When they were both done eating Logan grabbed their plates and stood.
"You gonna go put those in the sink downstairs?" Virgil asked, laying back in bed.
"Yes, and I'm going to grab a change of clothes to wear to bed. I'll be back in a few minutes."
"Alright."
Logan left the room, making sure no one was in the hallway to see him leave Virgil's room. He carefully treaded downstairs and into the kitchen, quickly depositing the plates into the sink. He turned around to leave.
"I don't know, Janus, I'm just... worried. I don't know what's gonna happen now."
Logan stopped dead in his tracks and his eyes traveled over to the living room couch. There sat Janus and Patton, watching something on TV, clearly not having seen Logan come by.
"Pat, I'm sure things will be alright in the end. Virgil's just being salty, he'll come around."
"But our friendship has been going downhill a lot recently, and he yelled at me during dinner. I really care about Virgil, like a lot, so I'm just really confused by everything right now."
"Huh. Well then... I'm very sorry he did that. He does have a bad temper. But you did absolutely nothing wrong, and he'll realize that eventually. I cannot guarantee when eventually is, but it will come."
"Yeah... yeah. And Logan said he'd go talk to him, maybe that can help a little."
"Perhaps."
Both were silent for a moment, when suddenly Logan saw Janus sit up a bit more. And then he was turning around- turning to look into the kitchen. Logan remembered that he could basically teleport anywhere he wanted to go and so he hastily sunk down, appearing a moment later in his room, hoping that Janus hadn't seen him.
Logan sighed up reaching his room. He quickly got changed into pajama shorts and a t-shirt before walking over to Virgil's room. He knocked and then entered, locking it behind him.
"Welcome back, did ya miss me?" Virgil joked as Logan walked over to the bed, getting underneath the covers with him.
"I did. I'm sure you know that already, though." Logan smiled.
"You're such a sap."
"Hmm."
"Anything interesting happen down there?"
Logan had a brief thought to when he saw Janus and Patton talking on the couch, but he pushed it to the back of his mind, as he knew it would only make Virgil angry and didn't want to deal with him possibly getting mad that Logan didn't say anything to them.
"No, nothing."
"Mm. Well nothing interesting happened up here, either," he chuckled.
Logan shifted closer to him and the two cuddled up to each other, sharing a brief kiss before both closed their eyes.
"Goodnight, Lo."
"Goodnight, Virge."
Logan smiled gently to himself as Virgil leaned his head against Logan's chest. Logan felt a familiar, tingly feeling emerge from his torso at the touch, as he always seemed to feel whenever he was in contact with Virgil. Logan would never admit out loud how much he enjoyed this feeling, of course. Especially since that would be admitting he could feel.
He only really talked about his feelings with Virgil, as they pained him greatly most of the time. He didn't like having feelings. Feelings were completely irrational and unpredictable, and when Logan was certainly a bit of a control freak, not having control over his own emotions freaked him out. But, it was nice to have a boyfriend with so many emotions himself- he understood. He had certainly experienced many emotions when he was with the dark sides and after he left so he had a lot under his belt and knew how to calm Logan down if he was ever stressed for whatever reasons.
On that thought of the dark sides Logan suddenly began to ponder his existence again- as one may do at late hours of the night. The phrase the concepts of good and bad are arguably meaningless once again appeared in his mind. And, for what was surprisingly the first time in his entire life, he thought of one question that for some reason he had never thought of before.
Would he be better off with the dark sides?
