=TEN=A Simple Spell and a Contract Sign=

Logan stood tall, his arms crossed in front of his chest, staring slightly down at the man in front of him. Though he was standing proud, he was still mildly disheveled, his backpack hanging off his shoulder, glasses smudged, and hair ruffled. But he was silent, and Janus stared at him, slowly processing what he had just been told.

"...I'm sorry, what was that?"

"I said, what do I have to do to become a dark side?"

Janus looked to the ground for a moment and then looked back up. "Hm... wow. I didn't think you'd have the guts to do it. Please, come in."

Janus stepped aside and Logan walked into the dark side Mindscape, taking a brief look around. He hadn't been here since... well, never, as far as he could recall. It was fairly monochromatic but there was almost an old, jazzy touch to the room he was standing in- showing that the mindscape was likely designed by Janus. There were a few bits and pieces of trash here and there, which seemed to be evidence of Remus trying to make it feel more comfortable to himself as well. A few stray cobwebs hid in corners, perhaps remnants to when Virgil had resided there. Logan sat down on the couch, and after Janus sat down next to him, Remus strolled in.

"Woah, what's going on in here? Were you two trying to fuck?"

"No, I'm currently not sin-" Logan cut himself off with a sigh, and just resorted to shaking his head. Emotions were confusing. He was pretty sure they were still dating... right? Sure.

He honestly hoped so.

"Well if you're not, what are you here for, then?" Remus plopped down on the couch to the other side of Logan, spreading his legs, hands gripping at the couch between them.

"Well, Logan here wants to join us," Janus briefly explained. Upon looking over at him Logan realized he had conjured up a small folder, in which he was shifting through various papers. He pulled one out and then snapped the rest of the papers away, placing the one he kept in his lap.

"What might that be?" Logan asked.

"It's a contract you'll have to sign if you want to do this."

"I do want to do this."

"Now, hold on, Logan. Take a step back."

"...I'm sitting down?"

"No, I mean-" Janus huffed. "I mean, think about what you're doing. What was the thing that made you snap and come over here, anyways?"

Logan blinked a few times. Janus was hesitant to let him in? What could that be the result of? Was it really all that bad being a dark side?

"Well... I stayed in my room after the last episode was filmed for twenty-four hours and no one seemed to care I was gone. When I did join them all in the kitchen this morning, they practically dismissed me. Roman glared, Patton tried to justify himself, and Virgil... mocked me."

"Hmm... ouch." Janus conjured up a feather and a bottle of ink, touching the tip of the feather to his tongue for a moment before setting both items on the coffee table. Logan wondered exactly how attached to the "olden days" Janus was. Though he did have to admit that using a quill and ink to write instead of a regular mechanical pen was... intriguing.

"Is that all? May I sign the contract?"

"Not yet, Logan. Based on past experiences I need you to be completely sure that you want to do this. It wouldn't be fun to regret your decision a week into your stay here."

"Janus, you seemed to be trying to entice me into joining you in the past... why are you being hesitant now?"

Janus chuckled, crossing his legs and setting his hands down gently on top his knee. "Oh, my dear, Logan... that was me trying to help you realize you obviously weren't happy over there. Did I think you would actually listen to me? Of course not."

"Oh."

"I suppose because of that you have no need to provide me of evidence showing why you'd like to leave, but really, Logan, I need you to be 100% certain this is what you want. This is a very large decision and you're making it on an impulse. Is this what you will want tomorrow? A week from now? A month?"

Logan let out a breathy laugh, tinted with sorrow. "Now you're beginning to sound like Virgil."

The random fidgeting coming from Remus and any other movement on Janus's end immediately stopped. Logan blinked, and then put a hand to his mouth, of his own accord. He coughed.

"Oh, goodness- was that-"

"No, no, it's fine, Logan. You're still hung up over him... we all are." Janus mumbled the last part.

"It's practically a requirement to get in here!" Remus grinned, and Logan couldn't tell whether or not he was being sarcastic. He could never tell what was and wasn't sarcasm, though, so that bit at least wasn't new.

"But anyways, are you sure?"

Logan blinked, staring at Janus. He then turned and stared at Remus for a moment. His eyes flickered around the entire room, going from door to corner to cobweb to banana peel. He took a deep breath.

Was this what he wanted?

"My decision remains that I either choose a new, fresh start here, or have to go back to residing among people who do not care for me or my existence in the slightest. I believe my answer is obvious."

Janus smirked, if only a bit, leaving Logan to smile a bit back, almost as if he was happy to have appeased him. Remus began tapping his hands excitedly against his thighs as Janus reached for his paper, quill, and ink.

"Oh, goodie! It'll be so fun having someone else here to annoy!" Remus commented enthusiastically.

"Indeed it will," Janus rolled his eyes, smirking once more. He glanced over the paper that was now sitting in his lap and dipped his quill in the bottle of ink, signing somewhere on the paper along with checking a few boxes. He passed the paper to Remus, who also signed the paper with the same quill and ink. The paper was then placed in Logan's lap.

"Is this a contract of some sort..?" He asked, picking it up and examining it.

"Indeed. There's a spot for you to sign at the bottom."

"Take your time to read over it, but it's always fun to make your decisions even more impulsive than they already are!" Remus exclaimed, shoving the ink and quill closer to Logan. The latter hummed, beginning to read over the contract anyway.

Light to Dark Switching Agreement Contract

This contract is entered into by and between
Janus Classy Sanders* [SIDE NAME] Deception* [SIDE TRAIT] ("First Party", "Head of the Darks"),
REMUS* [SIDE NAME] THE BETTER CREATIVITY* [SIDE TRAIT] ("Second Party"), and
Logan Sanders* [SIDE NAME] Logic* [SIDE TRAIT] ("The Side in Question").
This term of agreement shall begin on
April 27th, 2019* [CURRENT DATE] and will end
never, until further notice* [END DATE].

The specific terms of this contract are as follows:

1. The Side in Question will transition into a dark side, don a new Trait name and move into the dark side Mindscape. Through signing this contract, the Side in Question gives consent to have a spell put on them to properly turn them from light to dark. The spell will only change the side's main Trait and will not interfere with them in any other way, though the new Trait may change the side's personality depending on who they are and who they are turning into.
2. The Side in Question must agree that above all things, Thomas Sanders must be held first and the main goal of any side- Dark or Light- is to maintain him as a functional human being. If a side's transition from Light to Dark interferes or hinders his performance as a person, a further discussion may be needed and if decided, the side must return to being a Light side with no questions asked.
3. To return to the Light sides, the Side in Question must give their signature along with the signature of the other two sides that have signed off on this very contract. Without these signatures the side will not be allowed to return to the Light sides, and any spell to turn them into one will fail to work.

In consideration of the mutual promises set henceforth, both the First and Second Parties agree that: (Mark each box with an X)
[X] The Side in Question is hereby allowed to become a Dark side.
[X]     The Side in Question has either obtained permission (in signature form) from the Head of the Lights and any other required Parties to transition to a Dark side, or has already lived as a Light their entire life and therefore never signed a contract to enter the Lights in the first place. If the latter is true, no signature from the Head of the Lights (or any other Parties) is needed.
[X] The Side in Question will abide to the rules in this contract and, if this is shown false, will be asked to return to the Lights.
[X] The Side in Question will be allowed to make their own decision in regards to a new outfit, Trait name, room decor, and anything else required to help them become their new selves.

This contract may not be modified in any manner unless in writing signed by all Parties. This document and any attachments hereto constitute the entire agreement between the Parties. This contract shall be binding upon the Parties, their successors, heirs and assigns and shall be enforced under the laws of the State of Thomas Sanders*.

Logan blinked a few times as he read, taking the time to read over each and every word twice or thrice. He looked up at Janus after some moments.

"Well... this is certainly more than I was expecting," Logan admitted.

"What were you expecting? A child's restaurant coloring mat menu with a crossword puzzle on the back?"

"...I'm not entirely sure."

Remus snickered, and Logan glanced over the contract once more.

"So I must choose my new Trait? How much time do I have to think?"

"As much time as you want technically... but I'm not gonna sit here next to you all night and wait for you to decide. If you need a computer or a dictionary I can-"

"I memorized the Merriam-Webster dictionary at age twelve, I will be fine."

"Smart-ass," Remus mumbled.

Logan sat back and pondered for a moment. According to the contract his main goal- as it always had been- was to keep Thomas a perfectly functional human being. Which meant Logan's new Trait was likely going to be an antonym of Logic, but also at the same time something that could help Thomas.

Firstly, the opposite of Logic is, well... stupidity. And neither Logan nor Thomas probably wanted that. And then there was ignorance, which once again wasn't a very good choice and was something Logan saw was already mostly covered by Janus. One synonym of Illogical was "caprice", which meant a sudden and unpredictable change. But that only reminded Logan of emotion... and he didn't want any ties to that in the slightest.

...

What... was the antonym of pure emotion? The opposite of the act of showing any form of care?

Logan sat up.

"Damn, it literally looks like a lightbulb went off inside his head," Janus muttered.

"Stoic... stoicism." Logan muttered back.

"Stoicism?" Remus echoed, sounding a bit confused.

"Yes, stoicism. Categorized by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as an indifference to pleasure or pain. It is a philosophy about the absence of emotion and the uselessness of it. The founder of this philosophy, Zeno of Citium, taught that people should be free from passion and unmoved by joy or grief."

"And this relates to Logic how..?"

"Simple- Logic has no emotion tied to it, and neither does Stoicism."

"And you're sure you're not just being impulsive because you miss Virgil and haven't felt this many bad emotions in decades?"

"...No, why would that be the case?"

Janus hummed. "Alright, then. Go ahead and write down the Trait name and the definition, and then sign on the line."

"Alright."

Logan did just that, writing down exactly how he had verbally described the word Stoicism before grabbing the quill. He signed his name on the line, and after looking over everything one last time, handed the paper over to Janus. He smirked lightly and made it disappear within the blink of an eye.

"Am I a dark side now?" Logan asked.

"Technically you are. But I still haven't preformed the spell yet. Stand up."

"Alright."

"When are we having the party? Are we having a party? I wanna get drunk!"

"Remus, we're not having a party to celebrate Logan succumbing to... well... perhaps it does deserve a party. But you're not getting one."

Remus huffed and stood off the couch at the same time as Logan. The former hopped over the couch and leaned against a wall, Logan merely just taking a step back from Janus, who was staring at the ground, preparing himself for whatever he was about to do.

"Will this be painful?" Logan asked.

"Probably not." Janus closed his eyes, beginning to concentrate.

"...And you're sure about this, Logan? You really want to do this? One hundred percent?"

Logan bit his lip. As soon as Janus questioned him doubt filled his mind, but it was met with other things- pain. Sorrow. Guilt. Anger.

Emotion.

"I'm sure."

Janus opened his eyes, and Logan could see a certain yellow tint in both of his eyes, including in the one that normally appeared brown. His scales shined a bit brighter than normal, and he smirked, ever-so-slightly.

And then he moved his hands, but before Logan could catch what he was doing, he was blinded.

Noise erupted around him- something he couldn't place. It was almost like a continuous beeping with no stop, very much resembling the beeping you might here when getting a hearing test. It rung loudly in his ears and his forehead began to throb with pain. Emotions were brought to surface.

He opened his eyes, yet he could only see white, and the pain in his head would not go away. There was a purple blob floating in his line of sight, coming closer, going away. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. It vanished. Colors flashed, and the sense of grief and anger coming with his vision was slowly becoming too much for him to handle. He tried to force his eyes shut again but it would not work, and the noises got louder around him, colors becoming much more vibrant. It felt like he was going to burst open- he could barely breathe, pure sorrow sinking into his chest and squishing his lungs with ease. It was as if he was about to scream and finally let loose all of the things that had been plaguing him his entire existence.

And then he did pop open- he burst. Very suddenly everything stopped, he was sitting on the floor in the dark side Mindscape, two curious and mildly concerned sides staring down at him. Everything was silent. The strange white room his mind had just put him in was long gone, yet strangely... it felt like it was in the back of his mind. He was completely numb, but one part of his brain was still up and running as if he was still Logic. The thoughts that had always plagued him were sitting in that part of his mind.

Logan could feel... something.

"How do you feel, then?"

He swallowed it.

"...Fine."

"He's perfect."
