~!~Brief Chapter TW: Mentions of death/murder (it's all in a game, no one actually dies)~!~

Logan woke up the next morning, and you would never have guessed it, but he was sad.

Why? Well, wasn't it obvious? There he was, laying in bed, at seven o'clock in the morning. His room was cold, and it was empty, as there was no purple-tinted mass laying next to him that he couldn't fully make out because he wasn't wearing his glasses. But today, Logan put on his glasses, and he still didn't see Virgil.

It sucked.

...

He sighed to himself and got out of bed, idling in the middle of his room for a moment. He was a bit hungry, that was certain, but he was also certain his small mini fridge was still half-full with a couple snacks that he could live off of for one day if he needed to barricade himself in his room. Which wasn't healthy, but if Roman did it and was immediately granted with very extreme amounts of love, praise, and respect, maybe Logan could do it and earn some too- some that he actually deserved, since Roman clearly didn't deserve any.

Regardless... Logan walked over to his closet and quickly got dressed into his normal attire, adding a blue sweater vest over his polo and tie to help with the coldness of his bedroom.

He grabbed a can of Mountain Dew from his mini fridge, forgetting how unhealthy it was, and loaded up his computer. What was he doing on there? Well, he was finally going to check out a new popular game that all the kids had been talking about lately- Among Us.

As far as he knew himself, this game was basically just Mafia- not the electronic game, but the one that was most often played at summer camps- except everyone was in space. The goal was to win, as... most games instructed. There were two different roles: Crewmate and Imposter. The Crewmate's job was mainly to man the ship and make sure everything was flowing smoothly, which involved completing different tasks around the ship that would fill up a meter as everyone did them and eventually bring that team to victory. On the other hand, the imposter's job was to stop this. They would have to go around killing the rest of the players while trying not to get caught, using vents placed around the ship to their advantage as a means of escape. Another possible way the crewmates could win, though, was by catching the imposter- or, imposters. If a dead body was found or if someone hit the Emergency Meeting button in the ship, then players could communicate and try to figure out who the imposter was. Then, they can hold a vote on who the imposter is. If all of the imposters are caught before the imposters can outnumber the crewmates, or the crewmates finish all their tasks before the imposters kill them all, the crewmates win. If the imposters can outnumber the crewmates, then they win. There were also a few other smaller aspects of the game, but Logan was sure he'd pick those up as he went along.

He quickly downloaded the game onto his laptop and loaded it up. After playing around on free play for a moment and getting used to the controls, he went ahead and joined a public server.

He was put into the game with his selected username, Logic. He walked over to the small computer in the waiting room to customize his character, watching as more people slowly began to join the server and walk around. After looking through the colors and hat options, Logan decided on making his character dark blue with the goggle hat. Soon after this, the room filled up with ten players, and the game began.

Logan was listed as a crewmate, and saw that out of everyone there were two imposters in total. He took note of this, and quickly opened up the map as soon as he was spawned into the game. He saw his closest task was in admin, and so he went right over to there. The task was to swipe a card across a scanner. There were a few other players surrounding it, and though the task was tedious, Logan got it after about three tries.

He was about to leave the room, when suddenly, another player began circling around him. He froze and raised an eyebrow, until he remembered something.

This game had a small set of visual tasks that only the crewmates could do. These tasks gave visual responses on the map and, when a crewmate does them, confirms them as a crewmate and not an imposter. The most common way to ask for someone to follow you and watch you do a visual task was to circle around them.

The player, using the purple color and the banana peel hat and going by the username Ray, was still circling Logan until he suddenly began to walk away. Logan quickly followed him, and they got to the bottom of the storage room, where a visual task was located. Ray did the task, and the visual effect happened, showing that Ray was, in fact, a crewmate.

So Logan had someone to trust... that was nice. And they were using purple as their color, too.

That was just splendid.

Logan checked his assigned tasks and saw he had a visual task himself in the shields room, so he quickly circled around Ray for a moment and then began walking over there. Ray followed him and he did his own visual task, which of course worked. So now Logan could trust Ray, and Ray could trust Logan. It was all coming together.

Sadly, there was no chat feature in the game unless you were voting on the imposter so Logan and Ray could not talk to each other. But Ray began walking away, and Logan saw he was headed towards electrical, where Logan had a task himself. And so he followed him.

They kept following each other around for a while, Logan slowly finding himself growing attached to the new friend he was making, until suddenly, the dead body of the player using the red color was found and an emergency meeting was called. Logan opened the chat, and was the first of many to type the word, where?

The person who called the meeting, Cyan, typed a quick explanation into the chat.

<Walked into nav and it was there

Suddenly, Green- going by the username Duck- typed.

Duck
<Blue sus

Logan raised an eyebrow.

You
Excuse me?>

Duck
<Idk I haven't seen you all game

~Duck has voted.~

Ray
<Nah man he was with me
<Watched him do shield visual task

You
Thank you.>
I also saw purple do a visual,
the trash dump in the storage room.>

~Ray has voted.~

Logan smiled to himself. He guessed that Ray had voted for green, and so he voted for green as well. In the end most of the group voted for green after a bit more discussion, and green ended up being one of the imposters. Soon after that round had ended, Ray and Logan found the body of Cyan together, and so they reported it. Yellow was blamed as the second imposter, and that was correct. In the end, the Crewmates won, and Logan had made a small friendship.

He stayed in the lobby after the game had ended, deciding to play another round. He blinked a few times and smiled upon seeing once the next game had begun that he was imposter- with none other than Ray.

This was going to be interesting.

The round began. Ray and Logan both took off together. They idled at the back of storage and, after a brief moment of communication via moving their characters, agreed to split up to find people. Logan headed right to electrical and found green, whom he killed before quickly hopping in the vent next to him. He came back up in medbay, and walked into the cafeteria, seeing Ray enter on the other side as well. They grouped up together and ended up idling in admin for a moment until their kill cool down timer went off. When it did, they double-killed the two others in admin. This left three crewmates and two imposters, already. Of course, right when their luck was at its peak, someone found the dead body of yellow, who Logan assumed Ray had killed.

Logan went to type where? In the chat, and saw how Ray pretended to be surprised at how many people had been killed already. Logan tried his best to join in the confusion, and after a very brief voting session, Pink was voted off. This left Ray, Logan, and the two remaining crewmates. Logan realized that all the imposters needed to win was to kill one more person, and Ray seemed to realize this too, because once his kill cool down timer was up he walked right up to one of the crewmates and killed them. Logan and Ray remained the victors.

The next game began quickly, and it was a surprise, but Ray and Logan ended up being imposters together- again.

That round went... fairly quickly. And not in a good way. It started out as usual, but Logan and Ray got a bit to cocky with their kills and ended up killing someone right as another crewmate walked in. The crewmate was able to report the body before Logan or Ray could kill him, and long story short, Ray was voted off and Logan was voted off as well soon after.

But he was sure the next round would go better, as soon as he could be a crewmate with-

Or... no. Sure. Whatever. Let him be imposter with a different person now.

Yes, Logan was imposter, again, but not with Ray. This person was using the yellow color and a fedora-looking hat, their name being Lizard. Logan and Ray still immediately set off together, and Logan found himself suddenly with a decision to make.

There they were- all alone in the navigation room. Logan's kill cool down timer had finished counting down and all he had to do was walk over, hit the button, and hop in one of the two nearby vents. But how could he ever do that to Virgil?

...No, hold on. Ray. Virgil? Why had he thought Virgil? Was it because Ray's color was purple? Was it from the strange bond the two of them had formed? Was it how both Ray and Virgil seemed to share the same general sense of clumsiness yet at the same time great agility? Either way, something about Ray just made Logan unable to kill him. He just... couldn't.

...

A moment later, Yellow- or, Lizard- suddenly walked into the room. And Logan realized something- either he was going to have to kill Ray in the next few seconds, or Lizard would do it for him. He's have to either kill Ray, or watch him die. Kill, or watch him die. Kill, or watch. Kill or watch. Kill or watch.

...

Virgil.

And with that final thought, Logan hastily disconnected himself from the game. He sighed heavily, and took a sip from his Mountain Dew, laying back in bed.

Why was he unable to do that? Why did he literally just screw the entire game over for Lizard? Why did he have to leave Ray hanging that quickly? Why was he faced with such a horrible decision?

...Had he made the right choice?

That was something he didn't exactly want to think about.

It was the next morning, and Logan got dressed into his normal outfit, deciding to skip out on the blue sweater vest for that particular day, since he finally had decided to venture downstairs.

After his little gaming session the previous day, Logan was done being cooped up in his room, even if it was only for one day. He couldn't bare to be alone for that long, especially since he had Virgil on his mind for just about the entire time he had been up there. So, he prepared himself to go downstairs and face the consequences of his decision to be anti-social. Whether those consequences were good or bad... he was unsure of.

He had to find out though, eventually. And he might as well not put it off any longer. So, as soon as he was done getting dressed, he took a deep breath and made his way downstairs into the light side Mindscape kitchen.

...A mistake, really. He stepped into the kitchen and took note of the reactions of the other sides already present there.

First, there was Patton. Patton was stood by the stove. When Logan had entered he glanced up briefly, and then immediately looked at the tiled kitchen flooring with wide eyes as if it was the most interesting thing in the entire universe. Standing next to him was Roman, who was sending a death glare trickling down Logan's spine, and unlike Patton, he was downright refusing to break eye contact. And next to him was none other than Virgil, who took to scowling at Logan until the two of them made eye contact themselves. Virgil looked back to whatever he had been doing once he thought he got his point across.

Logan was stunned.

"...Oh, alright. So do all of you hate me now, then?"

Patton glanced up for a moment, but his eyes darted around the room. "Logan... I, well... we-"

"Don't pretend it's not true, Patton. Why didn't you want me in the episode?"

"Well, kid- bud- we already said, we just didn't think you'd..."

"I'd what? You didn't think I'd help?"

Patton shrugged. Logan sighed.

"Look. I am sorry for insulting all of you, I truly am. But I am tired of being pushed underneath the rug, figuratively. I do not exist for your entertainment. I exist to help and to be a crucial part of Thomas's self and being. I am Logic, and I'd much appreciate it if you all could respect that."

"I think we are respecting it, you're just being a stupid nerd," Roman mumbled underneath his breath. Logan huffed, fists curling at his sides.

"Alright- why is it that when Roman stays in his room for a prolonged amount of time, when he finally comes out-"

"Ayo!"

"...he's regarded as confident and proud and as if he's done something huge. But when I spend time alone, none of you worry about me. No one even brought me food. Now, I was not expecting anyone to do this, but I feel as if I deserve a bit more recognition than Roman, who is literally half of one side."

"Oh, well, if you're just gonna come in here to yell at us you should leave because you're clearly not in the right mindset for a calm conversation," Virgil mocked, quoting what Logan had told him two days prior.

"Yeah, what he said!"

Roman held up his hand to Virgil for a high-five. The later stared at him, mildly-confused, for a moment before quickly slapping his hand as was implied for him to do.

Logan huffed.

He should just leave... that's what he was being told.

Well then.

Maybe he fucking should.

"Okay. You know what? Fine. You all fixed your issues with each other and I'll just be pushed to the side, as always. None of you want me around anymore, and sure, that's alright. I'll leave. I'll leave your line of sight, and I can promise that none of you will ever have to deal with me, again. Goodbye."

Logan turned on his heel and marched up to his room. He grabbed a small black backpack with a NASA patch on the front. He rummaged around in his room for a bit, grabbing his laptop, phone chargers, Nintendo Switch, favorite clothing articles, among other things. He stuffed all of his essentials into his backpack and once it was securely situated on his shoulders, he sunk down, appearing in front of a specific dark gray painted door located outside the light side Mindscape.

He knocked. The door opened.

"Patton, I'm sorry but I really don't have time- for... oh. Well hello there, Loga-"

"What do I have to do to become a dark side?"
