The Mask
She wears a mask, though it doesn't show
No weird features
Or supernatural aspects about it
Just a simple smile,
Dimples popping from the corners of her mouth
Her mask has not fallen in years
Why she hides?
Nobody knows anymore.
Is it because she has lost sleep
Over a death of a loved one?
Or is it because
She just hasn't found happiness in so many years?
Nobody knows. Nobody knows.
He wears a mask as well
A simple smile, but his eyes
They tell a story beyond words
Nobody knows what lies beneath
That mask of his.
He has his sleeves pulled up to his wrists,
Halfway over his hands,
As if he is hiding something
He sports a bruise on the base of his neck
The blue-ish color standing out
Against his pale skin
What happened there?
Nobody knows. Nobody knows.
Their friends, they feel the pain
Not physical, but mental pain
The pair may not notice it but
Their friends
Need them
More
Than
Anything
For, without those friends,
They would've drowned in their thoughts
Long ago
Wiped from the face of the earth
Nobody would've heard
Nobody would've cared
They think
But, their friends are the
Anchors that hold them firmly to the solid ground
There is no sea
There is no more masks
Just laughter
Not forced
But from
The heart.

Hi, I hoped you liked it! I wrote this poem myself. Just a little message to those of you out there who go about life as if it were a masquerade. You're not alone. I stand with you, sporting my own mask.
