32- Bike Lock

WILL POV-

---- 7:34 AM ----

As the morning of the next day dawned upon them, the brunette couldn't believe the events that had taken place yesterday. If he wasn't given the bandage on his head, he probably wouldn't believe it; it all felt like a dream: an amazing, wonderful dream,

But he sighed, placing his shoes on his feet, today was Monday and they had school. After all that, Will still had to go to school; he wished it was the holidays so he and Mike could spend some time together: alone. Or maybe that was too much, after all they only just had their first date.

He couldn't wait to tell the Party, he froze... Mike wanted to keep this all a secret; it made sense. They mutually came to an agreement to keep this dating thing a secret for a while from the general public, but Will wasn't a hundred percent sure if that counted their friends though...

Tying the last lace of his shoe, he waited for his sister to finish getting her stuff ready; he didn't assume Mike would come over this morning. Will guessed he had to wait till school to see his first boyfriend.

He passed a clumsy smile as he recalled yesterday's events, he had face called Robin and Steve yesterday, giving them all the juicy details of what happened; they seemed to enjoy listening, finding it comical and humorous; stating it was like an overly dramatic soap opera.

"Will! Let's go!" El burst into the living room, ready to leave as she checked the clock on the wall, "I promised Jenn I'd be there early!"

"So dramatic!" The brunette mocked, "You're the one who was getting ready!

"Some of us need to look presentable!" she said with a hint of a smirk,

The brunette rolled his eyes as he stood from his spot, grabbing his windbreaker and walking toward the front door, "Yeah, yeah, early bird gets the worm or something like that."

El grinned jogging over, "Something like that." she agreed, ruffling his hair slightly,

As the pair emerged from the house ready for an early day of school, they stepped onto the front porch spotting Mike standing there; busy fiddling with... something.

Only after taking a step closer did Will realise that Mike was tampering with HIS bike, "Mike!" Will called out with a puzzled expression on his face, "What are you doing to my bike?"

The ravenette's eyes widened, not expecting the pair to come out the house this early, turning around with a nervously guilty grin spreading across his face. "Hey Will, hey El." he said, addressing the pair,

El simply waved back with a furrowed brow, even she was confused what Mike was doing to Will's bike, crossing her arms as she listened into the conversation,

"Don't 'hi' me!" The brunette said, "What are you doing to my bike?"

"Oh, um, I was hoping we could bike together to school." Mike replied.

"Oh okay... let me just grab my bike then..." he said initially puzzled by the ravenette's odd demeanour but didn't question it any longer.

He pushed Mike gently to one side to see his bike; at first glance, nothing seemed amiss; the same yellow colour, the same handle breaks and stickers but... that's when the brunette noticed something peculiar. There was a bike lock clamped to his bicycle, and it certainly wasn't his; he never locked his bike when he got home, merely throwing it on the porch. He furrowed his brows, knowing the culprit; slowly turning his head to face him, "Mike... did you lock my bike?"

Mike mischievously chuckled, dangling a set of keys in Will's face, "Well, I wanted to bike you to school but I wasn't sure if you'd say yes so I thought if I locked your bike, you'd have no choice but to agree!" He explained in an excited tone,

Will merely blinked, "Thats the stupidest plan I've ever heard! Why didn't you just ask me?"

"Cause I wasn't sure if you'd agree," Mike replied

"Whatever, just unlock my bike." Will ordered

"No," The tall boy shook his head.

"What do you mean 'no'?" Will furrowed his brows

"I want you to sit on the back of my bike!" Mike begged,

"I will," Will paused for a second, "but I need you to unlock my bike, or you'll forget to do it later." he said, knowing how bad Mike's memory and attention span can be at times.

"Can't take any risks; what if I unlock the bike and you ride away from me?" Mike pouted in a cute manner, "I will remember, I promise!"

Will narrowed his eyes in concentration, attempting to snatch the keys but was just too slow as Mike held up the key high into the air, jokingly reprimanding, "Uh, uh, uh, what did I just say?" he mocked, "You have to listen to me if you want control of your bike again."

Frustrated by the situation and Mike's playful demeanour, Will jumped up to the keys but they remained just slightly out of reach; it didn't help that Mike had unusually long limbs. The brunette clenched his fists, firmly saying, "Okay, Mike, this isn't funny. Give me the keys, now."

The ravenette couldn't help resisting teasing his new boyfriend, holding the keys even higher; getting on his tiptoes to create more distance, "Aww, Will, is someone feeling a little short today?" he teased, flashing a flirtatious smirk.

Will's annoyance grew as he grabbed both straps of Mike's bag pulling him closer to whisper threateningly, "If you don't give me the keys right now, I'm going to choke you with my own two hands." he said,

Mike gulped, a blush spreading across his cheeks from the brunette's deep voice but oddly wasn't fazed by the threat; merely kissing Will's nose which caused Will to let go of the straps.

"You're cute like this," the ravenette chuckled,

"I was being threatening." Will crossed his arms

"Cute." Mike argued

"Threatening,"

"Cute,"

"Threatening,"

El watched them for a few minutes deciding on whether Will's threat was 'cute' or 'threatening'. She finally rolled her eyes with an amused expression, stepping in before they never arrive at school, "Okay children, that's enough of the theatrics." she said, "Will, just get on Mike's bike so we can head to school already."

The brunette pouted as Mike smirked with a dumb smile, walking over to his bike, sitting atop it, patting the seat behind him. "Come on!"

Will curled his lips, in all honesty he didn't care if he had to ride with Mike, it was actually something cute that Will always wanted to do when he used to see El get on the back of Mike's bike everyday... but he never admitted it because he felt guilty for feeling the way he did.

Thinking of his sister, Will turned to her as if asking if this was alright; he knew of her and Mike's freshly broken relationship and if this wasn't something she wanted, then he wouldn't display their affection like this.

But El gave a nod and a little smile as if telling him it was alright; she honestly didn't seem fazed in the slightest, so the brunette breathed deep, telling himself it was fine as he climbed on the back of the bike, placing his hands on Mike's shoulders lightly.

"You need to hold on tight," Mike mentioned.

"I-I am!" Will exclaimed a tad embarrassed, grasping Mike's shoulders firmly, "Like this?" He asked,

The ravenette rolled his eyes playfully, "More like this!" grabbing both of Wills arms, wrapping them around his waist,

The brunette's eyes widened, his face tinting a reddish complexion, a rush of excitement running through his stomach at the close proximity; even though they had kissed and been on a date, Will was still as jittery, worrying if he should be feeling this way, but Mike's little smile was all the confirmation he needed.

"Hold on tight," Mike joked, "I don't want any casualties,"

"I'm sixteen, not six," Will sarcastically quipped.

"Whatever," the ravenette rolled his eyes, "Let's go!" He exclaimed, pushing his feet off as he biked through the familiar streets.

Will felt the breeze in his hair, holding tight onto his boyfriend; HIS boyfriend! The words still sounded strange to him, he had a boyfriend, AND it was his first ever crush.

Unable to help but resist a playful comment every now and then as she rode alongside them, El occasionally glanced back and forth between the boys, jokingly quipping, "Looks like I'm the third wheel from now on."

Will chuckled, flashing a mischievous grin, "Don't worry El," he retorted, his eyes sparkling, "You're the coolest third wheel in town." then playfully extending one hand toward her as if to compliment his point. He was about to engage in more friendly banter when Mike reprimanded him by grabbing Will's hand and wrapping it around him again.

"Don't let go, you'll get hurt." Mike softly reprimanded.

Will and El shared a knowing glance, El trying her best not to laugh aloud at the cute display before her. Will's heart skipped a beat, and his face flushed a pink hue at Mike's display of affection; he could feel Mike's warmth emanating from him... he also smelt so good...

Will's head rested on the ravenette's back and his fingers across Mike's stomach as they continued their bike ride, feeling Mike's heartbeat beneath his fingers: a steady rhythm that reassured that this was real. The wind whipped through their hair, swaying in unison.

El rode alongside them, and despite her ever so frequent playful comments, she was genuinely happy for her friend and brother.

Nearing the school, the trio slowed down, the rush of the ride and the events of the pass week giving way to the reality of another day of school. Mike pulled the bike to a stop and Will reluctantly removed his hands from Mike's waist; he wanted to do that again. Perhaps if he begged Mike, he would ride Will places.

But in that moment, Troy and James closed in on them, their intentions clear as they started mocking the two boys. Troy in particular decided to target Will. They were barely even on school grounds; where they waiting like a pair of jackals?

"Well, well, look at the love birds... what happened to the girlfriend Byers?" Troy mocked, "Was she a guy too?"

The brunette didn't say anything, merely moving his hands away from Mike, jumping off the bike,

"And you two, Wheeler!" James continued Troy's sentence as he mocked, "Did you lose a bet or something? You must be desperate if you're dating Zombie boy... or maybe he gave you his disease."

"We aren't dating!" Will lied, his fist clenched, his fingers digging into his palm, looking over to Mike and El who stood before him, as if shielding him from the bullies.

"Don't talk about him like that!" Mike growled,

"Or what?" Troy mocked, "It's the truth, isn't it? Queeler..." he stretched the last word.

Mike couldn't retain his anger replying with "Cut it out. Now." he threatened,

But James laughed, ignoring Mike, "Oh, so this is why Robin dumped you?"

"It's none of your business." Will's voice shook,

"We heard it in the mall; I mean who could blame her though? You're just not good enough!" Troy mocked relentlessly.

Will's heart sank, second guessing himself, even though he wasn't actually dating Robin, did everyone think he wasn't good enough? Is that what all his friends thought when he first introduced her as his 'girlfriend'? Did they all think that Robin could do so much better? The words cut deep, causing Will's voice to waver with emotions as he frowned. Would people think he wasn't good enough for Mike either?

Mike lost his patience, ready to throw a punch until a voice called out from behind the bullies, "Hey Assholes!" everyone turned around to see Robin, her hands in her pocket, "If you're going to be talking about me, I would like to be part of the conversation," she quipped sarcastically.

"Robin?" Mike questioned with a furrowed brow as Troy and James flipped around, taken aback by her sudden defence.

"What are you doing here Buckley?" James squinted his eyes, "Here to save Zombie boy again?"

"I told you not to call him that," Robin threatened

"Why the fuck do you care; aren't you guys broken up?" James spoke.

"Didn't your mummy tell you not to swear?" Robin mocked,

"We're not kids!" James argued.

"Oh, is that right?" Robin joked, "You know you guys are funny... you should join the traveling circus."

"Yeah, I hear clown schools always an option; I think you'd be good at it." The ravenette added to Robin's point... Will thinks it's the first time he had seem Mike agree with something Robin had said. The brunette looked at the pair of Robin and Mike; they were getting along for once; huh, surprising!

El stood beside them with an icy gaze, staring down the bullies. She knew she had a reputation for being unusual and mysterious, and she didn't hesitate using that to her advantage.

"We're not clowns!" Troy argued.

"Really? Cause you sure look like a comedy act to me." the blue-eyed girl smirked, "Or maybe it's a love story in the making; like I've said multiple times before,"

"How many times do we have to say; we aren't fucking dating!" Troy sighed annoyed.

Robin completely ignored him, turning to Will, Mike and El with a mischievous glint in her eyes, "Should we start taking bets on when they start dating?"

"We aren't dating!" James repeated the same words as Troy

"Whatever you say! Your secrets safe with me; I support everyone... even assholes! Now run along, we have better things then entertaining the circus!" The blue-eyed girl waved them off.

"Yeah whatever..." Troy mumbled, walking away before turning back, "James for God's sake! Come on." he whispered before they both strolled into the distance.

El casted a death glare at the bullies as they crossed inside the building. But upon seeing a familiar figure in the distance, her face softened, turning to her friends, "I- I need to go, Jenn's waiting for me!" smiling; not even waiting for a response before parting from the group,

Robin rolled her eyes playfully and knew exactly what that tone and excited skip was; El has a big crush on this 'Jenn'. She could just tell these types of things, but she wouldn't spill anything.

Then, Robin walked over to the two boys, standing before them; placing one hand on Will's left shoulder and the other on Mike's right shoulder. "You know, you guys make a pretty good team. Down let those mouth-breathers get under your skin. You're a lot better than those clowns."

"Thanks Robin." Will smiled,

"Yeah, um thanks," The ravenette furrowed his brows in confusion, visibly perplexed by the situation and the sudden change in Robin's attitude; just two days ago she was arguing with Will in public and now they were acting as if nothing had happened at all; it was all too weird.

"Like Batman, just doing my bit for the community!" She joked after offering her support. The blue-eyed girl couldn't help but add a light-hearted comment, "I have to go, but make sure you both focus on your schoolwork; try not to get too distracted with one another." she chuckled with a wink which made Will blush from embarrassment.

"Yeah, we'll keep that in mind." Will stammered in response,

Thereafter, Robin gave their shoulders one last squeeze before leaving them and walking into the building. Mike gave Will a confused glance, furrowing his brows bewildered, "What was that?"

"Huh? She just saved us from getting picked on." The brunette explained.

"I know that!" Mike retorted, "But did you see her? Why she suddenly acting so supportive even though she broke your heart the other day? And how does she know about... about us?" he rambled, whispering the last few words; even though Mike wished he could scream that he was dating Will, they both agreed to keep it a secret from the general public for now.

"Yeah..." Will quietly mumbled, "Mike, there's something I need to tell you..."
