19- I Wish You Were...
TW- Underage drinking

WILL POV-
"Hey..." the brunette opened the window, seeing Mike outside with a dumb smile on his face. Will asked a little bewildered. "What are you doing here?"
"Hey Will!" Mike greeted cheerfully, his voice carrying a hint of amusement; his cheeks a little flushed, he continued, "I... I just wanted to see you, buddy boo." he cooed.
Will's confusion deepened, furrowing his brows. Mike didn't usually act like this; he could tell something was off, "Are you okay, Mike? You seem... different." he said, wearing an awkward smile on his face.
The ravenette laughed a little too loudly, swaying slightly on his feet, "I'm more then okay Will! I'm fantastic!"
Will could help but chuckle; he was tempted to leave him outside, but he couldn't leave Mike alone; never; not in... whatever state he was in. He couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong; he was acting all loopy, like someone who was intoxicated, "Mike... are you... drunk?" he asked a little conflicted; Mike would never drink illegally, right?
"I... had a bit of a celebration; I found my dad's alcohol!" he said with a mischievous glint in his eye.
Will raised an eyebrow, "Celebrating what?"
But before Mike could answer, he let out a loud hiccup bursting into laughter. Whatever the reason for Mike's late-night visit, it was clear he was having a good time, "I was celebrating you!"
"What?" The brunette asked confused, "Actually it doesn't matter, come on in," the small boy said with a sigh, "But be quiet, Hop will kill you if he finds you drunk." he held out a hand to help Mike crawl through the window.
However, things didn't go as planned as the ravenette clumsily attempted to navigate the window, losing his balance, slipping on the curtain, tumbling forward. With a surprised yelp, he landed atop of Will, who let out an "Oomph!" as the air was knocked out of him.
Mike's drunken antics were more than a little comical and Will couldn't help but chuckle despite the awkward situation, "Mike? You okay?"
The tall boy nodded, sprawled all over the brunette's chest, making no effort to move as he lazily grinned, "I'm comfy here!" he murmured, his words slightly stirred from the alcohol.
Rolling his eyes, the brunette tried to push Mike off him gently, but his friend refused to budge, "Come on, get off me, you big goof!" he whined. His cheeks burned bright as he realised just how close they were, their bodies pressed together.
"Nope," Mike replied, his voice muffled as he nuzzled into Will's shoulder. "I like it here!" shuffling slightly.
Will, realising that the ravenette wasn't going to cooperate any time soon replied, "Fine," he sighed, "But you better not fall asleep on me!" he smiled sweetly.
"Thanks Will, you're the best!" Mike cooed.
"I know," the brunette giggled, "Why were you drinking? You know, you're too young right?" he scolded.
Mike hesitated for a moment sighing heavily, his alcohol induced brain clouding his words; his intoxicated breath became evident on Will skin, "I... I've just been thinking too much. About everything. About... about you." his voice soft and slurred.
"About me?" Will whispered, a little nervous and excited; his own feelings bubbling as he processed the words; hearing his heart thud,
Mike nodded, his head still in the crook of Will's neck, "Yeah, about you, about us... about everything; I just needed a break from everything."
Will's blush deepened; he couldn't help but smile, "You could have called or something; you didn't have to come all the way across town drunk."
"Yeah... but I wanted to see you," Mike laughed, his breath warm against Will's neck.
The small boy couldn't help but laugh softly, "Well you always did have a flair for the dramatic!"
Mike finally lifted his head, his eyes locking onto Will's, vulnerability etched onto his very gaze that made the brunette's heart ache. "There's something I've been wanting to do." the ravenette announced.
Will's heart raced as before he could react, Mike leaned in, their lips just inches apart. This time there was no dare. Mike connected their lips quickly; Will froze in shock; what does one do in this situation? He felt a mix of emotions: sadness, happiness, regret, lust and anger.
He felt dirty, he couldn't be doing this; this, despite being his long-term fantasy, was his best friend and his sister's boyfriend. He blinked, pulling a frown, "Mike... stop it, please."
"Shh." the tall boy replied, planting another kiss to Will's bottom lip,
"Mike I'm actually being serious, get off!" Will explained, his anger giving way to empathy, shuffling underneath as Mike placed a third kiss but this time to the brunette's neck,
Mike completely ignored him, whispering into the small boy's ear, "I wish you were a girl..."
Will's heart pounded in his chest as Mike fell atop of him, feeling the warmth of the ravenette's breath on his neck. Will's heart sank like a stone in the ocean as the words hung heavy in the air. The ravenette's actions finally made sense; this was all a drunken mistake; he realised he could never be loved.
With the weight of the painful words swirling in his head, Will closed his eyes. The thoughts weighing down on him like an anchor, pulling him deeper into his own insecurities.
It wasn't just the fact that Mike was kissing him once again that stung. It was the implication behind those words. It was as if Mike had inadvertently revealed his true feelings and preferences, confirming Will's worst fears- he could only be loved if he was different; normal.
It was stupid of him really; he chastised himself for daring to hope someone like Mike could ever see past his gender and love him for who he was. He had let himself live in a fantasy and his own delusions and now he was paying the price for his own foolishness, and the worst part was that he didn't blame Mike in the slightest for any of this.
As the tall boy drifted to sleep atop of him, Will felt an overwhelming sadness and loneliness. He wanted to desperately be the one showered with affection, the one Mike whispered sweet words to, but instead he was just a stand in for someone else.
Thoughts swirled in the brunette's mind. He was destined to stay left behind, watching from the sidelines as the one who he loved found happiness with another; while all his friends found happiness without him.
Stupid, so stupid.
Will remained trapped beneath Mike, lost in thoughts. He contemplated his feelings and wondered if it was time to move on; let go of hope that he would be loved. It was painful. It always was painful.
The room remained silent except for the soft steady snoring from Mike as he slept soundly. He felt crushed, carried down by Mike's weight, lost in a storm of thoughts and emotions. He felt a profound sense of despair and hopelessness wash over him. It wasn't just about Mike; it was about the fear that no one would ever truly love him for who he was.
He thought about all the times he questioned his own worth, wondering if he was somehow inherently unlovable because of his feelings. The shadows of self-doubt looming over him, taunting him like a persistent itch he couldn't scratch.
The room was a prison, and Will longed for escape, not just from the physical confides but from the emotional shackles Mike bound him too, he yearned to be free from the constant ache in his chest, his ache coming from wanting something he could never have.
So very stupid.
His feelings threatened to consume him entirely. Tears welled in his eyes, but he refused to let them fall; not right now! Not ever! The pain he had was constant and he felt suffocated in his own hopes and dreams.
Will deserved love and happiness just as he was... it wasn't fair; this was all Mike's fault.
One thing was for sure; he wasn't getting any sleep tonight either.
