That day went on better than it had started. Dominique had worked through her shift seamlessly, and without another problem. After what she had done to the men, the others became well cultured, and well, they were scared of her. They knew best than tease or abuse her, and stuck with the call girls, and the dancers.

Paul explained all about the job to her, and also explained that she would be needed more in the late afternoons and evenings - she was to close at eleven pm in the nights. This was so late, but she couldn't care less.

That night, she returned to the fort, and she sure dished the girls the story of her first day in work, the fight, and also how Joe had stood up from her, and how she survived being thrown out of her job.

Anastasia, just like Paul and Gen, also thought that what Joe did was absurd, and a bit suspicious, but she on her the other hand, told Dominique to take advantage of every situation - crazy or not; believable or unbelievable.

While Sharon, she only sat aside and listened to their conversations without adding in. She was slightly less grumpy than when Dominique had first met her, and this was a relief to Minnie.

That night before sleeping, Minnie was swept away by thoughts of Alex, and she felt herself brood in his memories - in the memories of the two of them. She felt the cold air slap her naked arm as she sat on her bed, and she closed her eyes recalling when she was in his arms - protected and covered by him. She was a weakling whenever it came it him - he was her deepest weakness, and she knew she would fall each time she thought of him.

She stood from the bed, and tiptoed to the door, and silently opened the door, and walked out. The night was cold and silent - but, it was perfect. She let the cold air get into her. She was tired of missing him. She didn't want to be this afraid. She didn't want to seem this small, but she had lost control of herself. She was no longer the girl she had grown up to be.

She was a mess.

Yet, even her damaged wings carved to fly again, and gain back control. She closed her eyes, and for the last time imagined his face, and his warmth, and his touches, and his kisses. It was right for her to say goodbye, and lock whatsoever emotions she had in her heart. Her eyes clouded with tears as she did this, and she pressed her eyelids together, and the droplets of her water came rolling down her cheeks.

"I will always love you, Alexander, now and forever, and no matter what happens, I will never ever stop wishing that you were here." She said as she let the tears flow freely down her check - knowing very well that this would be the last time she would make herself so subtle, and so moved to tears.

She wiped her face clean, and looked into the night with all determination. This was the dawn of a new beginning, and she was going to fight to get over everything at all cost.

No matter what it takes!

The following day, Dominique's bunk mate shot a crazy idea into her head, and suddenly that suggestion turned out to be something she didn't even realized she had been craving for ever since she could tell that she realized it existed.

"Don't you want to be educated?" Anastasia had asked.

Dominique had shut down from Ana and the others, as her mind wandered back to the brothel. Those times that she had shared a bit of happiness with some other girls at Dinah's dynasty. There were two particular girls, whom were both far older than her, and they were brought in from a huge town, and they were educated.

During their short time at the brothel, she and the girls had connected and formed a friendship. One of the girls, Nina had even taken her as a daughter. She was then twenty-one years of age, but she was certainly not looking like her age. She was younger looking, smart, and always full of smiles. Many times Dominique had wondered why a kind-hearted lady like Nina was stuck in the world of whoring. Minnie had long accustomed her own case as a curse, but to a girl like Nina, it just felt really unjust and unfair.

Nina had one day asked her if she would like to be educated. She even went as far to tell her the advantages of being an enlightened woman, just to encourage her. At that moment, Dominique had begun nurturing the dream of becoming an educated woman whom will be respected by her peers, and the society at large.

Nina had taught her the basics in all subjects, and she had actually driven the love of calculations into her, and despite the rumors Dominique had heard when she was little about the dreaded calculus, she came to love it when Nina taught her.

The other girl, Rita, was a rare lady. She had instilled the passion of English and literature into Dominique, and she equally taught her the basics she would need. Rita was very different from everyone. She hated being at the brothel, and wanted out. She always spoke about leaving the brothel, and going out of the country to study and become a professor in English. The other girls always laughed whenever she shared her dreams, but Dominique and Nina believed in her.

Maybe they shouldn't, because this made her hope that truly she would be able to escape the clutches of her reality. She had tried to leave. She had found a supposed tunnel that would take her out of the country. She said one of her customers had offered to take her out. The girls were all happy, and they wished her well. They thought that Rita had finally gotten her breakthrough, but they were so wrong.

They were so damn wrong about dreams. Dreams do not come true, and it was only a lie that they had believed in. Rita left that day, and the next they heard of her was that she had perished along other women - they had been massacred, and several of their body parts stolen. Dinah told them all that Rita had fallen prey to money lovers - to ritualism. She said this was what happened when girls claim to be smarter than they really are.

Her death had left a scar in the mind of every girl in the brothel, and Nina and Dominique were never the same again. Nina lost her smile; she lost her will; she lost her dreams; she lost her fight, and one day, she also disappeared. They never knew what happened to her, but Dinah told us that she had equally gone into destruction just like Rita. Up to this day, Dominique never knew what Dinah had meant.

Ever since Rita and Nina, Dominique had never found any other friend or companion in the brothel, and she returned to her secluded life amidst the girls. The girls left, and so did her dream of becoming an educated woman - after all, dreams do not come true.

Now, almost five years later, she's faced with the same question that Nina had asked, and all the passion she had back then began to come back to her, and so did the emotions she had bottled up in her hearts after their deaths.

Anastasia noticed this, and moved to her with a concerned look on her face, "Dominique, are you alright?"

Minnie wiped her face with the back of her palm, and forced out a smile, "I'm okay. I just remembered something."

Anastasia stared at her for a while, before she nodded. "Alright."

Minnie knew that if she wanted to start anew, and live a second chance, she had to let go of her past attachments; her past fears; and her restrictions. She wanted to be a better woman, and this has to start with reawakening her dead dreams.

"How do I get educated?"

Ana turned to her sharply, probably surprised that she was actually interested. "Oh. Wow. I didn't think you'll be interested."

Minnie smiled, "Well, lucky you, honey. This bitch is looking forward to screwing some books." She said confidently, and everyone in the room busted into laughs, including Sharon.

"That's one wicked humor you've got, Dom." Genesis commented.

Minnie shrugged, "Well sis, that's my playing point." She then faced Ana, "So?"

"Alright, my dearest Bunkie. You need to start tutorials." Ana replied, "This will be able to tell what level you can join at this delicate stage of your life."

Minnie raised her eyebrows, "Delicate?"

Ana laughed.

"Are you calling me old?"

They all laughed.

"Not old, just over ripe," Ana joked, and Dominique quailed a pillow at her but she dodged it, and continued laughing.

"At least I'm overripe," Dominique said, "Unlike you, rotten."

They all echoed in laughs. Ana picked up the pillow and threw it at Dominique and it did not miss her. Dominique feigned anger, and picked up another, and soon, they were all engaged in a pillow fight.
