The Bringer of Bad News

Quick Authors Note: I think you are all confused--when I say 30 comments I meant 30 comments from 30 DIFFERENT people. Spamming does not count. you can still do it; but it won't count. 'Cause I can NOT write a chapter in two hours. I'm a procrastinator. It's against my nature.

And another thing: TAYLOR DOESN'T KNOW GRAYSON'S HER MATE. GRAYSON HASN'T TOLD HER FOR PERSONAL, STUPID REASONS. WHEN SHE TURNS EIGHTEEN SHE WILL. BUT SHE'S NOT.  THIS IS ALL PART OF THE PLOT.

Anywhore; here's this chapter, as promised!

 Taylor

It may have been just my imagination, but I thought I had heard Graysons heartbeat stop--a least, for a millisecond.

"W-Why?" He breathed. This time, I was positive his heart halted.

I shrugged. "I just don't want a mate. I know I need one and all, but I don't want one."

"Why?" He repeated, a bit louder this time, his grip around me tightening. "Is it...because of me?"It may have been just my imagination, but I thought I had heard Grayson's heartbeat stop--a least, for a millisecond.

"W-Why?" He breathed. This time, I was positive his heart halted.

I shrugged. "I just don't want a mate. I know I need one and all, but I don't want one."

"Why?" He repeated, a bit louder this time, his grip around me tightening. "Is it...because of me?"

Sighing, I answered, "No, of course not. Hot as you may be - oh, stop smirking - for most of my life, I've been in charge. No one told me what to do. I was completely free. I don't want a mate because then he'll automatically assume the position of Alpha of my pack and I do not follow orders. At all. I just think it'll be easier if I rule the Silver Moon pack by myself, as I've been doing for the past couple of years. My father may hold the title of Alpha as of right now, but it's mostly symbolic, and as soon as I turn eighteen it'll be passed down to me, seeing as how I'm next in line for the position."

"B-But," he stammered, releasing me. "you have to accept your mate! He's your perfect half!"

Sitting up, I looked Grayson in the eye with an eyebrow raised. "So? It's my mate. I'll decide what to do with him."

Grayson abruptly stood up and he wouldn't meet my eye. He muttered something similar to, "I'll change that." But I must've heard wrong--why should he care?

I got up and placed my hand on his shoulder. "Anyway, thanks for this, Gray, it's been absolutely brilliant." I leaned closer and brushed my lips against his cheek. He looked up, startled, and he slowly smiled.

"No problem. It was my pleasure, really," he whispered. Grayson took my hand and wrapped his rather large on around it and slid an arm on my shoulder. "Come on, let's go. We never got to eat before."

I laughed, as did he, and he pulled me along to another diner. This one was much more modern than the other but just as cozy looking--if not, more.

"What?" I snorted. "Does this place serve waffles all day?"

"Yes."

Stumped, I merely replied, "Oh." I didn't think it actually would. Grayson chuckled and led me into the diner. I inhaled the delicious aroma and tried not to drool in front of Grayson. We sat down at a booth and thankfully, our server was a guy.

"Hi," he smiled at me. He was kind of cute (not as hot as Grayson though) with his large, green eyes, short, brown hair, and a tall, lean body. "I'm Daniel, your server for today, what would you like?"

"Can I get a dozen waffles smothered in chocolate syrup and whip cream, please?" I smiled, handing him my menu. "And a hot chocolate, too."

Daniel blushed and murmured a quick, "Of course." before disappearing into the kitchen. I looked over to Grayson and burst out laughing.

"He totally forgot to take your order!" I said, pointing at him.

He had an adorable, frustrated look on his face as he muttered, "That's cause he was too busy checking you out. I'm gonna kill him if he looks at you again."

I smirked. "Possessive much?"

"If it involves you; always." He said, seriously. My face turned red and I ducked my head, thankful he had pulled my ponytail out before.

The waiter was back with my food and he smiled shyly as he handed it to me. A growl came out of Grayson and we turned to him, startled.

"Don't. Fucking. Look. At. Her." He snarled. His eyes had turned black and he was standing up and glaring at Daniel.

Daniel blushed and whispered, "I'm sorry, I didn't know she was your mate."

"Oh, no, he's not my--" I started to explain, but he was already gone. I looked over at Grayson who was still a bit angry. "Why didn't you say anything?"

He shrugged but didn't answer. I sighed and got out of my seat and sat next to him. When I rested my head against his shoulder, he visibly calmed. I internally beamed at the effect I had on him and then scolded myself.

If he's like this with you, imagine what he'll be like with his mate, I thought. For some reason, this notion didn't sit well with me and a twinge of jealousy shot through me.

No, he's ours, my wolf growled.

I scolded her. He's not ours!

"Thanks, Taylor," he whispered, burying his head into my hair and inhaling deeply.

I reddened even more. "Whatever. Let's eat. I'll share with you---I don't think Daniel's coming back."

"He better not," Grayson muttered. I grabbed a fork and a knife and we began to eat--me eating most of it. Whenever Grayson raised a forkful to his mouth I stole it like the pig I am.

"Would you stop?" He chided, but with a playful tone. "I'm hungry, too!"

"Nope," I mumbled through my tenth mouthful.

"Taylor," he pouted, dark eyes shuttered and zoning in on my mouth. I quickly swallowed to stop myself from choking on my food. Christ, it should've been illegal for someone to be this hot.

He leaned impossibly closer, his hot breath warming the area right below my (i've now found out)very sensitive ear. "Let me have some." His husky voice had me heating up, and I shuddered, unable to process anything at that moment.

"O-okay," I gave in. Glancing at his lips, I tilted my head, expecting a kiss and Grayson dipped his own and -

Stole my fork. To eat my waffle.

I scowled at the now laughing boy, snatching back my utensil. We continued eating--with me sharing this time, I didn't want a repeat of what just happened, that fucking tease--and when we finished, I offered to pay.

"No," Grayson said, stubbornly.

"What? Why not?" I protested. "You paid at Mel's!"

"That didn't count. We didn't actually get to eat," he said. "So, I'm paying. Go wait outside."

I tried once more. "But I ate most of it!"

He sighed. "How about this: I'll pay now and you can pay next time?"

Inexplicably happy that there was going to be a next time, I replied, "Oh, fine. I'll be outside." After waiting outside for a bit, he emerged and threw an arm around me.

"Come on," he smiled. "Let's go home. I'm still hungry."

I nodded. "Me too."

Sharing just wasn't meant for two growing werewolves with an extremely fast metabolism. Not to mention two Alphas.

Grayson chuckled and placed a chaste kiss on my forehead. I grinned at him and we took our time walking over to the Collins residence.

"Over here," Grayson motioned to the kitchen and I followed him. I sat down on a stool, leaning on the marble island.

"Make me food," I commanded imperiously, watching him.

He put his hands on his hips and I smirked. "What makes you think I'm gonna make you food? You're the woman: you make me food."

"Well, unless you want your kitchen destroyed, I suggest you make the food," I shrugged. "And, I know for a fact that you just remodeled this kitchen. Also, that comment was sexist and I'm not kissing you again until you apologize." Raising my brows expectantly, I eyed him coolly.

He contemplated this for a moment. "You're right, that was a dick thing to say and I'm sorry. Forgive me?"

"You sound like you mean it, so yes. You still need to make me food though; I really do not belong anywhere near a kitchen."

The blond grinned at me. "How do sandwiches sound?"

"Fabulous." Grayson disappeared for a few minutes and then re-appeared a couple of minutes later with two huge BLT sandwiches and two, tall glasses of iced lemonade. We dug into our food and as I was finishing up (Grayson, the slowpoke, wasn't even halfway through his food), Alpha Aaron entered the room.

"Oh, Taylor, Grayson, I didn't know you where here," he smiled, tightly.

I gave him a small smile, "Hi, Alpha Aaron."

He sighed. "Taylor, would you please forgive me?"

Huh. Another Collins making amends with me within an hour. Must've been my lucky day. Next to me, Grayson started choking. Alpha Aaron glared at him and I looked at him weirdly.

"Er, for what?" I asked.

"I shouldn't have been so blunt with the matter over your marr - our alliance." He admitted. "I know it must be hard for you - the both of you - to do something so..."

"Committing?" I supplied.

Alpha Aaron nodded. "Yes, committing."

I smiled at him. "No worries, I understand. You were just looking after your pack. I would probably do the same in your shoes."

He smiled at me. "Thank you. Now, I must be off. Enjoy the rest of the evening, you two."

After he left, Grayson spoke up. "Wow, never thought I'd see the day where my dad would willingly say sorry to someone."

I chuckled and was about to respond, but stopped when I heard the sound of footsteps from upstairs. I sniffed the air and grinned. "Jason."

Sure enough, Jason bounded down the stairs and beamed when he saw us. "Taylor, baby! How are you? I haven't seen you in so long!" He made his way over to us and lifted me from my stool, hugging the living daylights out of me.

"I saw you yesterday," I laughed, hugging him back. Suddenly, I was ripped away from Jason into the arms of a furious looking Grayson.

"Touch her again and I'll kill you," he growled, his wolf surfacing. I rolled my eyes at his possessiveness and drew away from his embrace.

I stared him in the eye as I walked over to Jason and hugged him. "Stay, boy. Stay. Jeez, it's only a hug! He's my best friend!"

Grayson growled again and I moved away from the redhead, not wanting to infuriate him more. Jason smirked, unbothered. "Jealous much?"

"When it involves Taylor: always," he snarled, repeating the familiar line.

I turned pink and muttered, rolling my eyes. "Whatever. Alphas: always so possessive." Grayson grabbed me and buried his head into my neck.

"Mine," he murmured against my skin.

I reddened even more and hastily pushed him away. "Yeah, whatever makes you calm down, my dude."

The bastard had the nerve to smirk at me. "Can't you get any girl friends, Taylor?"

I gasped mockingly and held Jason. "I have Jason! Doesn't he count?"

Jason pushed me away and glared at Grayson. He said in a high-pitched, girly voice, "Yeah! What the, like, heck Gray? Don't I, like, count?"

"No." Grayson deadpanned.

Jason sneered. "Bitch." He flipped his short, maroon hair and snapped his fingers. I slapped my hand over my mouth and my eyes started to water as I tried to refrain from laughing. "Whatevs, I know I'm fab. You just jealous."

Grayson scoffed. "What exactly is there to be jealous of?"

Jason gasped and a hand went to where his heart was. He gestured to his body in a somewhat seductive way and said in a duh tone, "All of this."

Unable to hold it in any longer, I began laughing. "Oh, dear God, I love you, Jason!"

Grayson growled and jerked me towards him again. He bared his teeth at Jason and his eyes shifted to its darker form. "Mine." I slowly extracted myself from him, embarrassed at the display of affection.

"So you've said, like, twenty times already," I bit out.

Jason rolled his eyes while I fought down my blush. "Whatevah, I know you love me more, hon." He winked at Grayson and then sashayed out of the room, dramatically flipping his hair once more.

"He reminds me of Michael," I observed.

Grayson shrugged and slid an arm around my shoulders. "As long as he stays away from you, I'm okay."

"Why are Alphas so possessive?" I muttered, rolling my eyes. "Do they think that yelling 'Mine!' and growling at everyone is a turn on or something? Okay, it is--sometimes. Most times it's just annoying."

"Alphas are naturally protective of what they love." He simply said.

I pondered over that and nodded. "Okay, I agree." Then I blushed, realizing what he just admitted. He...loved me? No way. Not possible. It was way too soon in our relationship (could it even be labeled as a relationship, yet?) to even contemplate things as momentous such as love.

Grayson smiled at me, causing something in my chest to do weird things. "Let's sit back down; I didn't finish my food."

"Know why? 'Cause you're a fat, slowpoke." I lied, poking his hard abs.

He snatched my hand and smirked. "You know that's not true, sweetheart."

Slightly blushing, I pulled my hands away and rolled my eyes. "Oh, you, you just go eat." Grayson laughed and grabbed my hand, planting a kiss on both before leaving for the kitchen.

"Boys," I muttered as my blush grew.

Urgh, I hate how I keep blushing! And all because of what? A guy?

Your guy, my wolf added. Just as I was about to deny it, I heard someone call my name.

"Taylor!" I swiveled my head and saw a slightly winded Alpha Aaron coming back into the house. "I forgot to tell you something!" Grayson and Jason came back into the living room and looked expectantly at him. "You have to move in with Grayson right after the marriage. You guys will have your own house."

That felt like a stab in the gut.

"It's going to be in Midnight Woods' territory, obviously." He continued.

Make that a silver knife. A silver knife has stabbed me in the gut.

"You'll also have to attend the high school Grayson and Jason go to."

Hey, knife! Look who joined the party: a bullet!

"Hold on," I spoke up. "I'm homeschooled and I've already finished high school online! I've finished college too! I can show you my degree! And we're in the middle of a war! Who cares about school? We need to be planning, not learning about useless crap like Romeo and Juliet!"

Aaron shook his head. "I'm sorry, Taylor, this is for safety measures. You can't be alone at home with everyone gone, and just because there's a possibility of bloodshed does not mean you can slack off with your education. You may be finished, but Grayson and Jason are not."

"And last, but not least," he continued, uncaring of my spluttering. "you both are to be wed within the week."

Yep, I'm dead.
