...........................................................

(Narrator's Pov.)

The pain. Suffering. All of it was inside of Natsu. No mercy for his little soul. Growing more and more out of his childish acts. Ageing into a mini adult.

"Natsu I want you to-"

"Father, I am going to ask you humbly to teach me. If not, I'll do it myself."

Natsu told his father. His voice different. Very different. Not Natsu's normal child voice, no, this was a deep, dark, and cold tone.
'Very different...'
Natsu's father looked at his son, but now sees the determination Natsu has kept deep inside him.
Igneel sighed. He knew his son. Whenever he decides something, you can't ever change his mind.
'Just like his grandpa.'
Igneel sighed again, giving up on interrogating him. Natsu is a kid after all. Nothing will pass through his head. Well, that's what he thought.

"Alright Natsu, let's begin."

...........................................................

Three weeks later.

Natsu and Lucy have been getting closer to each other everyday since the day they met. Igneel been researching on what happened to Natsu ever since the day he had snapped at him. The temperature going so high, his body getting changes, his tone of voice, slowly threating and completely different from his used to be normal self. But never found anything.
When Natsu's cousins, uncles, and aunts visited him all he does is greet them and goes to the basement where he's been training. His cousins Laxus Dreyer, Gajeel Redfox, Erza Scarlett, and Gray Fulbuster had came over and tried to make him stay and play. The longest Natsu ever been with them was half an hour. He's been training so hard, yet he doesn't use his skills when he goes to the park to play with Lucy and Happy.

Today, instead of Zeref taking Natsu to the park, Igneel will be doing it instead. He has been making Zeref to dress Natsu into a tux everyday with a gun in his pocket. Training him to be comfortable with it while he's doing everyday work, activities, meetings, or when he's on missions.

Lady Layla has been teaching Lucy on how to use her keys. So far Lucy had only met Aquarius, Cancer, Scorpio, Gemini, Capricorn and Virgo the maid and butler that work in the mansion back home. Layla hasn't told Lucy that they'll be leaving Mangolia in 4 days and go back to Tow Tow. She knows Lucy will be sad and disappointed to leave Natsu. Layla could tell that they loved eachother so much, they were inseparable.
No one could brake or ruin the bond they had.

No one.

Even if they tried, Natsu will get angry. Not in front of Lucy ofcourse, but when she turns around out of his sight he then scares the shit out of you!
And seeing Natsu like that, is just pure horror!

Natsu was waiting for Lucy at the park with his father. He saw Happy fly passed his head and hugged Lucy. She hugged him back and fell inside the sandbox.

"LUSHIE!!!"

"Hi Happy!"

Natsu ran to the sandbox and helped Lucy up. When Happy let go of her, Natsu was the one who hugged her making her fall again laughing.

"HI NATSU!~"

"How are you Luce!!!"

Natsu said as he got up holding Lucy's hand. Then she smiled.

"I'm happy as Happy could ever be!"

"Did you call me Lucy!"

Said Happy as he sat down on her head. Lucy giggled at his actions. Happy pouted making both kids laugh at him.
Lucy's mother was sitting on a bench close to the them. Igneel decided this was a good idea on getting information oñ the kids bond. So he sat down next to Layla, staring at the children while doing so.

"Can I ask you something ma'am?"

"And that would be?"

She answered him, turning her face from Lucy to him. And back to Lucy.

"Does Natsu always act like that when he's with your daughter?"

"Yes, he always been like that since the day Lucy met him. If anyone says anything about her in front of him, he scares them with a face and powerful words I can't explain. Happy comes and tells Natsu that Lucy's waiting for him. Every time that happens Natsu calms down and heads to her."

'Very interesting.'

Igneel thought as he stares at both the kids. Watching them as they're playing with Happy, taking turns on flying. He sighed.

"Natsu only calms down when he thinks about your daughter, doesn't he?"

"It's not impossible. As you can tell, they do have a very strong bond. And I have to say, that isn't easy to find in between two people. Young ones to be exact."

Igneel hummed in agreement. Scratching and rubbing the hairs on his chin

"Now can I ask you a question?"

"I'm listening ma'am."

"First you can call me Layla. Second, Do you have a reason to finding why my daughter is important to this problem you have?"

He looked to the side watching his son before speaking.

"Well Ms.Layla, my son Natsu has been having troubles on controlling his powers. He won't listen to me when he's angry anymore. Until I mention your daughter's name, he listens and starts to manage his magic. After I teach him a he's bit angry at me but then apologizes for his behavior."

Igneel finished turning his head to Layla.

"Sounds like you're having a really hard time with him. Really different from Lucy. She's really easy to train, but she can't hold her magic power for to long. That's why I'm teaching her little by little until she gets used to it. Which I think that your son also needs."

Natsu's Father was astonished by what she said.

'Little by little.'

They both sat there, watching their children as they played. Then, an idea had popped into Igneel's head. He smirked as he played his plan through his head.

"Ms.Layla, I'm wondering if you could let your daughter Lucy to come to my mansion for the night?"

Layla turned her head towards him. Looking at him as if he had five heads. Then a small thought went to her head.

'Natsu...'

"What is your excuse for wanting. My daughter Mr.Igneel?"

"To help Natsu control his powers, but ofcourse I do need your permission first."

Layla thought about it. She finally nodded. Agreeing to the little plan he just made.

"Ok... I'll let you, but on one condition! If I see any scratches or bruises on her, you are a dead old-man. Understood?"

She glared at him, making shivers go slowly and creepily down his spine.

'She's like my scary wife back home!!!'

"Y-yes Ma'am! I'll make sure of it!!!"

He said in a loud voice as he crossed his arms protecting himself form any injury. Layla looked at her daughter, thinking if she's sure on telling Lucy about them leaving Mongolia. She sighed deciding her answer. Knowing it will break her daughter's heart, she still has to tell Lucy.
Down the block, were some men dressed in pointy white cloaks that reach to their ankles, sand coloured sandals, black rope on their waist making the cloak stay in place, and big brown crosses around there necks. They stared at the pink-salmon little boy playing tag with the blond and cat.
Natsu felt as if someone was watching them. He looked around to see something behind a piller that was connected to the public library.
Or was it more than something?
Natsu sniffed the air.

'That smell, this isn't good.'

He thought as he called Lucy to him.

"What happened Natsu?"

"Aye!"

Natsu didn't answer them he grabbed Lucy's hand and headed to his father with Happy on his head. Layla wondered on what happened to make them stop playing. Igneel decided to smell the air. His head snapped to the direction Natsu looked earlier.

'Spoiled milk with rotten eggs.'

That horrible smell that'll make you puke. He knew that smell. Both of them knew.

"Is something wrong Dragneels?"

Layla asked as she stuck out her hand giving Lucy her keys. Since the belt doesn't fit Lucy yet, she asked her mother to hold them for her. Igneel just shook his head and told them nothing's wrong. It was just a terrible smell. But that wasn't the real reason. Something happened when they smell that smell. But one thing was for sure, they wanted something they have dead. But why?

'Lucy, and Happy aren't safe.'

Natsu thought as he holds Lucy's small, soft, and warm hands. He tightens his grip a little making sure he doesn't hurt her.
Memories past though his head about his grandpa. This was the smell the Dragneels and friends would never forget.

......

Natsu and his brother Zeref left their mansion with the butler named 'Tim'. Everyone had trusted him, belived he was a good friend. And by everyone, I mean everyone. But it was a horrible mistake. Grandpa Makarov was a very short elderly man with white hair around his head.
He was kind to everyone and treated them as the part of the family. That day Zeref had to take Natsu to school. Gramps was sick, so he couldn't leave the mansion. But it didn't stop him from walking around the place. The hallways were dark with golden framed pictures hanging on the wall. The pictures of people who once lived there.
He stopped at a certain the picture that had large red curtains on the sides of it. The picture had everyone he knew. From oldest to the youngest. All of them were there. His eyes stopped at a certain person.
A black haired little boy within the front row of kids was holding a book. It had ruff edges that were a bit burnt. Pages that were pale white and delegated to the touch, written with pitch black ink. The cover was dark brown, covered with black shaped symbols that resembled fire. In big, dark, and bold letters in the front.

Makarov moved his head to the left and right. Checking his surroundings if any one saw him. He moved the curtain to show a small, round, and black button on the wall. He grew his arm and pressed it against the wall in the hallway. The noise of a container popping open was the only sound you could hear.
He reached for the picture, grabbing the side of it and pulling it closer to him. There, the book that was in picture was there. Standing on a decently sized redwood piece holder. Makarov grabbed the book in his hands. His eyes got shined with a strong, bold, firey light.
He rubbed his eyes with the open hand he had. He looked up to see a tall man with big brown horns on his his head, the very tips of his hands and pass his elbow were dark pitch black, his torso full of dark markings that resemble the flames on the book, pants completely white beige with black liner on the ankles, his hair pink that was exactly the same as Natsu's, brown coloured sandles, and three dark letters on his chest that were exactly the same as the book;

'E.N.D.'

The tall figure looked down to the old man. A huge smirk on his face. Makarov standed his ground, the look of determination was on his face, but you could feel the hint of fear within him. The taller one started to chuckle.

"Hello again Gramps. Or should I say, Makarov Dreyer."

He continued to chuckle to himself until he couldn't anymore. Now laughing hysterically at the man in front of him. Starting to hold his stomach for support before he even falls over. Makarov was still standing looking at the laughing maniac rolling on the floor in front of him.

"You shouldn't be laughing if I was you E.N.D. I am one of the only ones who know you still exist. And also know your weakness."

E.N.D stopped his laughter and stood up. A serious look was put on the demon's face. His threatening stare could burn you into ashes in less than a couple of seconds.

"You will not say that shit again old man. She has nothing to do with this."

His strong deep voice shaking the building as he talked. The old man looked up to the tall one. His face plainly looking at E.N.D.

"When did I say your weakness was her?"

"I know what your thinking old man. You should know I can read minds."

He said annoyed. Crossing arms while thinking of a memory from the past.

A beautiful blond haired girl twirling in a knee height white coloured sundress. Her hair holden aback with two bows making her have pigtails. The shinning brown orbs on her face were looking at him as she stretched her arms out waiting for him to come closer to her. A big smile on both their faces. He starts reaching out to grab her until the whole place slowly turns white.

E.N.D shaked his head at the memory. Smiling at the thought of her.
He looked down the hallway to see a man in a white cloak that reached to his ankles, sand coloured sandals, black rope on their waist naming the cloak stay in place, and big brown cross around their neck.
Then he looked down to the old man. Looking at him in the eyes.

"When will my vessel start training?"

"Tomorrow he's turning 7. So about 1 more month till then."

E.N.D scratched his head. His arms slowly moving back to the position he had earlier.

"Does your adopted son know how to train a 'soon to be' demon?"

"He is a dragon. So he might have an idea."

E.N.D smacked his face with his palm. Shaking his head to the sides.

'Is this idiot serious?'

"Dragons and demons aren't similar gramps."

"What's the difference?"

"Look, I can deal with most of all my vessels idiocy and dense mindset, but this is completely stupid. How do you not know the difference between a demon and a dragon?"

"I don't know. But there is something in common between the two."

Makarov said as he gave the book to the demon. E.N.D grabbed the book and putting it back at the place it was.

"Just because dragons and demons have almost the same weaknesses doesn't mean we are similar."

"And why's that?"

E.N.D turned around and squatted till he was the same size as the master.

"First, demons can use all types of powers they want. It just depends on their creator's ideas. Two, we are absolutely way stronger than dragons. We can distroy the whole planet way faster then a dragon. Three, we live forever. Like myself had currently currently 100,000,000 years old. Four, we don't really give a crap if someone dies. Except the people we like to live with. Five, we can take something's happy life and turn it into a living hell in less than a second. Six, we can't ever be destroyed. And believe me, people tried, but never succeeded unless we agree. Last but not least, we are irrationality illogical on the reasons we kill. So we have no reasoning. Killing is just for fun."

Makarov stayed quiet. Not wanting to anger the demon. He knows that E.N.D is the strongest demon there is. And plus, he also knows how everything that had happend in the past.

"You know Makarov, today might be your last day here on this earth again."

"What do you mean?"

Makarov said as he tilted his head with a look of confused on his face.

"Look, before anyone who is in the Fairytail guild, friends, or family dies again after being reincarnated for another time, there is a smell of spoiled milk and rotten eggs close by. And today seems to be your day gramps. Sorry I guess."

E.N.D shrugged his shoulders. Not really caring about the situation Makarov is in. He'll see him again in his next life.

"Ok then. I'll accept that answer till the after life. But before I die, you know how your weakness, Lucy, is also reincarnated. I wanted to know how many times has it hurt you and Natsu when she dies over and over again?"

E.N.D turned his hands into fists. His knuckles turning white by the pressure his hand is having. He's angry now. He then glares down at the short old man in front of him.

"Lucy is not and will never be my weakness. She's what makes me sane and responsible. And what have I told you about this topic. Don't put Lucy back into our conversations. Cause if you don't, I'm the one who's going to kill you instead."

Makarov knew that question will get on the demon's nerves. But not this much. So before he decides to make him angrier, he'll tell him something.

"Well before I actually die, your going to have to put your powers slow-"

"Yeah, yeah. I know gramps. Before I fully enter Natsu's body I have to put my magic into my vessel slowly. Is that all? Cause I gotta go take a nap before I start."

E.N.D interrupted him as he started to close the entrance to the safe behind the picture where his book is secretly hidden.

"Yes that all. Good-bye E.N.D."

"See ya next time!"

And with that he left. No signs or dust was seen where he was. Makarov kept walking down the hall. He can smell the scent E.N.D had talked about. He turned his head to see a fist getting closer to him. It had collided the side of his face, making him fall on his side. Another was thrown on his right rib, breaking it into multiple pieces. A bone had went through his lung. Blood started to fill it up, making Makarov start to cough it up. Multiple punches had hit him, but he never screamed for help. He just laid there, taking it all.
His lips were busted. A huge cut was on his right eyebrow, another was his broken nose. An arm and most of his ribs were broken. The white figure stood up straight, and pulled out a gun from their sleeve. They had also pulled down their hood, showing his black eyes and brown hair. Two big claw scars were on the right side of his face.

"Hehe. Look at you. All broken and old. No wonder they left you here all alone."

"Tim? Is that you?"

Makarov asked as he looked up to see the butler that had always worked with them since the beginning.

"I still can't belive you think that was my name."

"Then- what- is- your real- name-."

He said trying not to cough up to much blood. The man pointed his gun to the old man's upper part of the left leg.

"The Name's Zash. Zash Caine."

And with that he shot him. After shooting Makarov's leg he ran to the nearest exit. He jumped out a window, spraining his ankle. He skipped to his car. Opening the door to the vehicle, turning the key and left.
An hour had passed by. Natsu and Zeref came home with their father. A weird smell was coming from the hallway as they entered. A green short hairded teenaged maid came running down in her uniform before she fell down. Natsu ran to her and helped her up by the arm.

"Thank you young master! I'm grateful for you helping me!"

"Your welcome!"

Natsu smiled as he let go of the maids arm. As they all look closer to her, they can see the panick written on her face.

"Is somthing wrong Bisca?"

Igneel said as he walked forward, putting his hand on her shoulder. Bisca had gotten shivers down her spine. She shaked her head, tears were in her eyes.

"I had found M-Mr. Makarov in the hallway after looking all over for him! His body all damaged and bloody! I-I came running to see if Tim could help and call the hospital!"

"Where is he?!"

"He's this way!"

They followed her into the hallway stopping to see a short frame laying on its side. Natsu, Zeref, and Igneel ran and flipped the old man. The smell of spoiled milk and rotten eggs was coming from the area they were at.

"Gramps! Are you alright?!"

Makarov coughed blood landing on Natsu's blue shorts as he kneeled to help his grandfather sit up.

"WHO DID THIS TO YOU!!!"

Igneel yelled, his body growing bigger as he slowly turned into a dragon.

"Calm-down or- your gonna- kill us all-!"

The elderly man coughed as he spoke. Holding onto Natsu's shoulder to steady himself from falling over. Igneel grew smaller, but didn't fully turn human. His velvet coloured wings and scales still on his body.

"Look. I - don't have -a lot -of time- left- so- Tim did this to- me.- but t-urns out-his -name is-Zash-"

He couldn't stop coughing. He coughed one more time before his heart and breathing stopped. His eyes were closed before you could see it go to the back of his head.

Natsu cried for days until one night he walked down the hallway his where grandfather died. A picture popped open showing the book that.Makarov visited once a month. Natsu took out the book and slowly began to open it. It spread wide open and the same light that blinded gramps blinded the small boy.
E.N.D stood there looking at the small kid.

"Well. I see you found my book. Dragneel."

"Your book?"

Natsu asked. Pointing at the demon.

"Well actually our book but that doesn't matter. How old are you?"

"7."

Natsu said as if it was a normal thing to do. E.N.D decided to tell him who he was. All except Lucy. There's so many things he wants to talk and all of it was about her. How she walks, her voice when she said his name, her beautiful hair falling down as she takes it out of high tails. But if he does tell him about it. It'll happened again. A choice he had regretted.

They talked about things that were unspeakable. Again and again they were talking to each other as Natsu kept the book hidden from anyone. Like his grandfather. The day after meeting Lucy, Natsu felt something in his heart. That feeling of completion but also emptiness. E.N.D had decided to give Natsu a little speck, of his powers. He had warned Natsu that when he completly had all the magic, he must not lose control. So he'll have to train every single day. Natsu did all of it.

It was another day at training and Natsu started yelling. That he couldn't do it. The demon was leaning on the wall. Seeing Natsu transform half of his body. All E.N.D heard was Lucy and stopped Natsu. He fell to the ground with the kid. Holding his head. Igneel is still talking about her. Making the demon feel hurt.

He loved Lucy Heartfilia.

He would kill himself if he could. Nothing bad should happen to her. He decided to help Natsu get stronger.

And that's what happened. E.N.D was with Natsu the whole time. The thing is, only Natsu can see him. So he followed the children. E.N.D wasn't only protecting Natsu and Lucy, he was protecting the future.

Their future.
