Chapter 38
"Strike!" Jungkook cheered after Jimin scored two in a row. "Dude, you're awesome at this!"
"Of course he is, he's good at everything." Hoseok said, getting up from the chair for his turn, picking up the heavy bowling ball. "That's why we stan."
"Who's Stan?" Jimin smiled, confused.
The three were bowling after school the next day, and despite the stares they were getting from everyone else due to the body guards, they were having a lot of fun.
They took a break to get some food, and chose to eat in the limo to have a little privacy.
"This is so cool." Jungkook stared as he ate. "I've never been in a limo before!"
"I have." Hoseok said, sitting by Jimin. "Vegas, '09. There were twenty three Elvis impersonators."
"That sounds like a story." Jimin laughed. "Have I ever told you about a pregnant man and a pink goose that learned sign language?"
"Not yet, but you better." Hoseok said.
"I don't think any story is going to top what your brothers did." Jungkook said.
"Step brothers." Jimin reminded him. "The 'step' separates the crazy."
"I'm just glad lil Namnumjoobiebuggiepiepoocupcakesweatheartie is okay." Hoseok sighed, leaning back in the leather seat.
Jimin grabbed his hand. "Yeah, I still can't believe that all happened. Seokjin has to go give his statement to the police today, and that'll determine the severity of his own sentence."
"Taehyung got locked up, right? I mean, all those charges, they wouldn't dare let him walk free, right?" Jungkook looked worried for Namjoon.
"Yeah, because he's eighteen he could be tried as a legal adult, and so they put him in a crazy person home to get treated, and then depending if he changes or not, they'll either lock him up or evaluate if he's okay enough in the head to get released." Jimin nodded. "But there's a restraining order on him, so he can't be within ten miles of Namjoon, and wherever Namjoon is, Yoongi will be there too."
"I still can't believe they're in that bet." Hoseok said. "I mean, we all know how...stubborn...Nyamjewnie can be. It's just a lot to wrap my head around."
"And the bet ends tomorrow." Jungkook reminded them. "One of them is going to win, and one is going to lose."
Jimin stood up, opening the limo door. "Come on, I just want to have fun today. Let's go play another round."
They followed him back into the bowling alley, all of them relieved that everything was almost over.
-
Seokjin sat down at the interrogation table, heart pounding as the officer shut the door behind him.
He had just given his statement about the part he had played in that red room incident, and now he waited tensely to hear what his punishment would be.
Ten years in jail? A lifetime of community service? A million dollar fine? Corporal punishment?
The officer sighed as he sat down opposite of Seokjin.
"Mr. Kim, do you think wasting police time is a joke?"
Seokjin blinked in surprise. "Uh, no, sir."
"Then why are you doing it?" The officer glared.
Seokjin was confused. "What do you mean, sir?"
"You stated you were there at the Min household and were Kim Taehyung's partner, helping him with his assault against Kim Namjoon."
Seokjin nodded, because that was the truth.
"And yet, in Kim Namjoon's statement, you weren't even there."
Seokjin's mind went blank, mouth opening slightly to argue, but no words came out.
"Wh...what?"
"He stated Taehyung acted alone, and Min Yoongi stated that he was with you at a local park during the time of the assault. Now, what do you think you were going to accomplish by lying to police? Fame like your brother? He's a psycho, you don't want that kind of fame."
Seokjin was stunned.
Namjoon...had saved him? Why? And how the hell had he convinced Yoongi to do the same?
"We're done here. Don't try to waste our time again or I'll hold you for falsifying reports."
Seokjin numbly stood up and was ushered out of the police station, standing there in the sunlight, a free man.
He had no idea why those two did what they did, but he wasn't about to try to change that cops mind.
So he walked down the steps, heading back to his car.
He had always called Namjoon an incompetent high schooler...
...but maybe he was a lot smarter than the pretty switch had ever given him credit for.
