Chapter 33
Yoongi cursed as he hung up the phone.
Fucking Taehyung...Yoongi couldn't believe the high schooler had really broken into Namjoon's house somehow and stolen the giftbasket.
Well, this was the same guy who slipped drugs into Namjoon's food to hospitalize him, so Yoongi actually could believe it.
"What's wrong?" Jimin looked at him with worry.
Yoongi sighed, deciding to trust Jimin and tell him the truth. He was a good kid, unlike his step brother.
"Taehyung somehow got into Namjoon's house and did something with the evidence. I'm sure he's destroyed it by now."
Jimin gasped. "So we can't go to the police?"
"It'll be hard to prove Taehyung actually did anything. All we could give them is the bottle of pills and have them match it up with the hospital records, but that's not enough to convict Taehyung. If anything, they'll turn on me for stealing a kids meds." He sighed, sitting on the couch and running both hands through his hair, pushing it back as he thought.
Jimin sat beside him. "I can't believe this is happening...I'm just...so glad I'm adopted."
He looked over at the frustrated dom. "Um, Mr. Min? Is it...okay if I stay here for a bit? I don't want to go home and see Taehyung. I might get arrested for punching him."
"Why are you suddenly calling me Mr. Min?" Yoongi gave him a smile. "And yeah, you can take my car to go home and pack a bag. I'm going to bring Namjoon some food and see if he's awake."
Jimin nodded and hurried to do that, while Yoongi got up and went to the kitchen. He grabbed the tray of water and dry snacks he had made earlier and headed up to the boys bedroom.
He knocked on the door first, and when he heard nothing, he stepped inside, gingerly shutting it behind him.
Namjoon was asleep on the bed, and Yoongi set the tray down on the bedside table.
He sat on the boys bed with a sigh, reaching out to run his fingers gently down the sleeping boys cheek, tracing his dimple. Yoongi was so endeared by it. By Namjoon in general.
Namjoon shifted slightly under the doms touch, slowly blinking his eyes open.
"Good morning baby," Yoongi smiled softly.
It was actually late in the afternoon, but the boy was still a little dizzy from the drugs, so he had been sleeping intermittently ever since he got back home.
Namjoon yawned and shuffled closer to the dom, grabbing Yoongi's waist and pressing his face against the older boys thigh like it was a pillow.
"Baby, you should eat something." Yoongi murmured, running his fingers through the students hair. "It'll help you flush the remaining melatonin out."
Namjoon tensed and shook his head.
"It's okay sweetheart, dom bought this today for you. Taehyung was nowhere near it, it's safe."
But Namjoon still shook his head and Yoongi sighed, hoping he wouldn't have to resort to forcing the boy to eat.
Namjoon fell asleep again a few minutes later, and Yoongi stayed by his side, staring at the wall and tried to think about what to do now.
Namjoon's parents would get a call from the school about how he had missed the midterms. But luckily they shouldn't know about the hospital visit since Namjoon was over eighteen now and an adult, and they no longer had rights to look into his medical history unless he allowed them to.
They could make up an excuse about the midterms, maybe let him make them up, and Yoongi knew Namjoon would ace them.
Namjoon could lie and say he's staying with Jimin for a while, which wouldn't really be a lie since he and Jimin would be together, just in Yoongi's house instead of the models.
All Yoongi really had to deal with was Taehyung, but how?
There had to be a reason Taehyung was this hell bent on being number one. He couldn't possibly be this crazy just because he hated second place so much. Maybe if Yoongi could figure him out, he could stop the student from causing any more harm.
Maybe Seokjin could talk some sense into his brother. Yoongi knew Jin, and the pretty switch was level headed and logical. If anyone could help him here, it was his best friend.
"Baby," Yoongi shook Namjoon gently. "Dom has to go do something, he'll be right back, okay?"
Namjoon frowned, eyes still closed, and hugged Yoongi tighter, clearly showing how he felt about Yoongi leaving.
Yoongi smiled. "Yes, baby. Let dom go."
Namjoon shook his head, pouting harder.
"I'll be right back, just stay here and rest." Yoongi said.
Namjoon whined, practically crawling into Yoongi's lap, burying his face in Yoongi's chest.
Yoongi chuckled, hugging the tired boy. "You'll be asleep the whole time I'm gone, you won't even notice."
"Always notice." Namjoon huffed, his eyes still closed as he leaned against Yoongi. "Have nightmares when I don't sleep with you."
"Oh...baby..." Yoongi sighed, hugging him tighter.
They really had to get him back into therapy.
-
Jimin came back a couple minutes later, and though he looked confused and surprised to see Namjoon sleeping against Yoongi, he didn't say anything.
He dropped his bag to the floor. "Thanks again for letting me stay, Yoongi."
"You're welcome." Yoongi said, carefully detaching himself from the clingy baby. "I gotta go somewhere. Can you stay with Namjoon until I get back?"
Jimin nodded, walking over.
Namjoon opened his eyes as the weight on the bed shifted.
"I'll be right back." Yoongi couldn't resist leaning down to kiss Namjoon's nose, smirking a little when he saw Jimin's wide eyes at the action. "Jimin is here with you now, please eat something, okay?"
Namjoon didn't want Yoongi to leave, but he was glad Jimin was here with him.
"Hey, Joon." Jimin said softly. "How are you feeling? Can I get you anything?"
Namjoon shook his head and yawned, crawling back under the covers.
Jimin did the same, and smiled when Namjoon turned to face him. "Hey, dork."
"No, you." Namjoon yawned again.
Jimin sighed, scooting over closer to hug the sleepy boy. "Oh...Joon, I'm so glad you're okay."
"'m fine." Namjoon murmured. "Just tired."
"I wish I could do something." Jimin mused. "Your friend at the hospital was funny, wanting to kill your parents. I like his enthusiasm."
Namjoon hummed. "That's Hoseok. He's annoying."
Jimin smiled. "He really cares for you, I could tell. And the shy one too. You have good friends."
"You're a good friend." Namjoon mumbled.
"Sure, if you ignore the fact my step brother put you in a hospital just for grades." Jimin snorted.
"No, really." Namjoon opened his eyes to look at the model. "You're a really good friend, Jimin. And there's something I have to tell you."
Jimin cocked his head. "Yeah?"
And so Namjoon told him everything.
-
Yoongi parked the car, climbing out and scanned the play ground.
Seokjin spotted him and waved him over to where he was on the swings.
Yoongi hurried over, taking the spot beside him. "Thanks for meeting me, Jinnie."
"Of course, Yoongichi." Seokjin kicked his feet off the ground, and the two started swinging at a slow pace. "What's up?"
"You know Taehyung drugged Namjoon, right?" Yoongi said.
Seokjin leaned back, looking up at the sky as he soared through the air. "Well, it's your word against his."
Yoongi dug his feet into the ground, stopping his swing as he looked at Seokjin in shock. "Jin, what the hell? I know he's your little brother and you wanna protect him, but you saw the evidence! It's obvious he did that? Don't you even care?"
Seokjin sighed, slowing down so he could look Yoongi in the eyes. "Yoongi...you lied to me."
Yoongi was confused. "What do you mean?"
"You said the bet was off, but it's not. That's why you were so angsty at our dinner date, right? Because it actually wasn't."
Yoongi blinked. "Jin, when I said the bet was going to be over, I meant it. I wanted to end it. I still do. But the contract can only be voided if both parties agree to it, and the other person said no. There's nothing I can do about it! Do you get that? I'm literally powerless to stop it, so you can't hold it against me."
"I'm not holding it against you, Yoongs." Seokjin kicked off again, chains creaking as he started gathering momentum. "It's all Namjoon's fault, not yours."
Yoongi's blood turned to ice. "What...did you just say?"
"You're in the bet with Namjoon." Seokjin said so easily. "I know. Taehyung told me."
Yoongi was speechless.
This was bad.
So, so bad.
"Seokjin-"
"Don't." Seokjin's carefree actions didn't match the darkness in his voice. "You're fucking yourself over with this stupid bet, Yoongi. It's obvious you love him, and you're going to lose because of it. A bratty, incompetent high schooler is going to own your life, and you said it yourself- you're powerless to stop it. You're lucky I'm here to help you."
"Help me?" Yoongi didn't understand.
"Namjoon has to lose. It's the only way. He won't end the bet, like you said, and I refuse to let my best friend get his life ruined so young. Namjoon has to lose."
He jumped off the swing, flying through the air and landing on his feet.
He turned around and smiled at a shocked Yoongi.
"Just sit back and let me and Tete handle this, okay? We're helping you, Yoongichi."
"Seokjin! Stop!"
Seokjin walked away, pulling out his keys and unlocking his car, the headlights flashing in the dimming evening light. "You're welcome, Yoongi."
Yoonig climbed off his swing and raced after the pretty switch. "Seokjin! Have you lost your fucking mind?! Taehyung is a psychotic criminal! And you're teaming up with him? Why?!"
Seokjin turned around and faced him. "Yoongi...have you really been blind for all these years? I'm fucking in love with you."
Yoongi froze in shock, not expecting that.
Sure, he knew he and Seokjin were closer than just friends, but he just chalked it up to a lot of other factors. He never considered his best friend was actually in love with him.
Seokjin sighed at Yoongi's shocked expression. "Thought so. See you later, Yoongichi."
Yoongi could only stare as Seokjin got into his car, honking the horn as he drove away.
If Seokjin and Taehyung were going to force Namjoon to lose, then that only gave Yoongi one option.
He had to lose first.
