Chapter 2
"I overthink, overlove,
overfeel and overstress."
Callista sat down for her first Potions class of the week. She sat next to Aidan Avery, with Rabastan Lestrange across from her and Magorian Mulciber next to him.
This was part of her friend group, the girls opting to avoid NEWT Potions. Severus sat at another table with another Slytherin girl, who she recalled was named Remedy, and two Ravenclaws. Even though they were her friends, she had always been closer with Fallon and Gen, but occasionally when Magorian and Aidan were not bullying innocent first years they could be a lot of fun.
She did not approve of their bullying, but she could not stop them. She tried once, but they threatened to take it out on her brother and sister and some of their friends. Since then she has let them do their thing and her siblings were left alone.
Her eyes scanned the classroom, taking in the messy shelves filled with potions and ingredients alike. A variety of smells filled the room, some pleasant, some horrible. All the usual people were here. Remus, Sirius, James and another Gryffindor boy she could not be bothered to remember the name of, Lily Evans, Dorcas Meadowes, Emmeline Vance, another Ravenclaw, and Reece Bloomfield with her two Hufflepuff companions.
"Morning, class!" Slughorn said in a cheery voice as he wobbled in through the door wearing a bright yellow patterned coat. "Everyone here?" He asked no-one in particular before nodding his head. "Wonderful."
Magorian grumbled, "How is the stupid fool so cheery on a Monday morning?"
Callista sighed. "If he's so stupid, why are you taking Potions?" She rested her hand on her chin with a smirk on her face as he glared at her, at a loss for words.
"He needs someone as stupid as him to teach him things," Rabastan added with a smirk, leaning back in his chair to look past Magorian.
She was never particularly close to Rabastan, or any of the boys really. She spent most of her time with the girls and James. Many people thought Rabastan was as cruel as his brother, and while he never outright caused trouble she wondered if he was just quieter in his cruelness or if he simply did not care.
Aidan and Callista chuckled, careful to keep quiet so Slughorn would not catch them. It was not hard, the Marauders were making enough noise to cover their laughs.
"Okay, class, take out your books, we're doing theory today. In our first lesson we took a look at three potions, Amortentia, Polyjuice Potion, and Felix Felicis. Then we went on to brew the Draught of the Living Death." he rubbed his hands together. "This week we'll be going over those three potions and next week you'll have to brew one of your choosing. Week after, another one, and week after will be the final potion left."
"Sir?" Said a voice from across the classroom. Lily Evans had her hand raised. Her hair was tied back from her face with a white floral ribbon and she glanced back and forth between her book and the professor. When Slughorn nodded for her to continue she said, "What should we take into consideration when choosing which potion to do first?"
"Ah ah!" He pointed at her with a grin on his face, "Great question! Think about which one you know the most about. The ones you'll do later, you'll have more time to study them."
Lily nodded with a smile, "Thank you, Professor."
"Suck-up," Aidan whispered to their group, his blond hair falling onto his forehead as he leaned closer. Callista nodded her head but her mind was elsewhere. She did not think she was trying to be a suck-up. It was a really good question.
The class dragged on and when Callista thought she was going to die from boredom the class ended and she could leave. She did love Potions, but she hated the theory. She would rather do the practical work.
She followed the boys to the Common Room for their free period, which would not be spent relaxing. So much homework was given in the past three weeks that they were working every chance they got.
It was exhausting, to say the least.
She smiled and touched hands with Genevieve and Fallon as they walked out of the common room to their class. She wished she had more classes with them but the fact that they shared a dorm together made up for it.
She sat down and began her homework. The one thing she could always count on to never change.

Short, I know, but next one is longer. I couldn't make it one chapter because then it would be too long lol.
